{ DIY Galvanized "Gather" Kitchen Sign }

Hey guys!!! Today's post is going to be a little different at least for me..It's short, simple & well ALL the pictures are from at night!!! Yup, you read that correctly..all at night. I have a little confession to make here on the TQS..our kitchen is the most difficult space to photograph in our home! The light is crazy & not crazy in a good way, so I decided to do something I thought I would never do.. PHOTOGRAPH AT NIGHT!! Just typing that makes me kind of cringe haha. I mean for any blogger that's just kind of a no-no! We strive for light, bright & clear photos, but sometimes that isn't possible in every situation at least for my little practical blog haha! I've been meaning to finish this super simple & rustic DIY for the past week, but you know that thing called "life" gets in the way sometimes so today is the day!
S u p p l i e s:

  • Chalk paint
  • Scrap wood/solid surface
  • Brush/sponge
  • Letters

D i r e c t i o n s:

  • Wipe wood off
  • Paint with color of choice
  • Distress wood { brillo pad or wire brush } then wax { optional }
  • Position letters
  • Attach letters { nails or 3m }

I picked these letters up at +Hobby Lobby  after failing at +Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores  & +Michaels Stores . Seriously who would have thought that finding some simple letters would be so hard ?! Anyways I'm glad I ventured out to Hobby Lobby & found these medium galvanized textured tin style letters for under $3 each!

I used an old wood leaf from a table we had & just painted & distressed it with some +Wayfair.com  chalk paint from +Walmart  in a custom mixed color of Ivory & White! I used some clear Annie Sloan wax to finish it.

You can see that I positioned the letters a bit higher & I did this for a specific reason... I'll be adding something to the bottom soon ;) !

I hope you guys liked this simple DIY! I've recently been loving the galvanized, whites & blacks mixed in with brown & greens. As you can see I've been muting the larger pieces in the dining room & really went out of my comfort zone with the "modern cottage" style rug -->NEW RUG INFO.  This sign was so easy, affordable & I think I'll love it for the upcoming seasons!

Wishing you all a happy & healthy Wednesday!

As always THANK YOU for stopping in on my little growing blog. { Kitchen Revamp & Our New RUGGABLE Brand Rug!! }

Alright friends today is the day I FINALLY can share progress in our kitchen revamp & our new accessory that has made life so much easier in just one week!!! We got our new +Ruggable® 2-Piece Rug System  eek! You guys know that I don't promote any product that I truly don't love or think would work in our little suburban cottage.. When I stumbled upon the Ruggable brand on good ole Instagram { links below } I knew this company was for us!!! Little back story for new readers etc.. So we have to large & very active rescue dogs that tend to skirt right past me when they come in from outside..This then leaves lovely little paw prints ALL OVER & when you're OCD with cleaning & you're a blogger that's really annoying haha! Our dining room has two entry points & the one we use the most { the sliding door } gets so much traffic that we're constantly replacing the dining room rugs to the point of my mother calling me the "rug queen" !! This patented 2 - piece system was just what we needed for this space..come see why!

The basics that set Ruggable apart from other average rugs:

  • Cling Effect Technology
  • Machine Wash/Dry
  • Nonslip
  • Stain Resistant
  • Pet Friendly
  • Changeable Covers
  • Sustainable Materials

P a d d i n g  &  C o v e r

It looks just like any ordinary rug, but packs sooo much more than a regular rug. The non-slip pad is inside & the cover is wrapped around the outside. I simply opened the package rolled out the 100% polyester pad made from recycled fibers & then attached the 100% woven polyester cover! It literally was that easy. No gimmicks, fuss or hassle in any way. The non-slip backing is great for any surface! The cover was great to work with because of the flexibility & it required no stretching or rolling on the ends which I LOVED!!

This was right after I laid the rug down in the dining room!

W a s h i n g  &  C a r e

You can see from the above picture that our dogs love to play on the rug in the dining room, eat doodles, run like maniacs & basically terrorize the space ha! With that being said we needed something that we could wash & not have to replace constantly! Ruggable allows us to do that easily by simply removing the thin, but durable cover & pop it in our standard home washing machine! The rugs range in sized from 2.5 x 7, 3x5, 5x7 & even 8x10 and YES even the largest size fits in your washer/dryer just like a king sized blanket!!! I mean how AWESOME is that??

The rugs also spot clean super easy & can be changed out with different styles for easy decor changes. The possibilities are endless especially with having pets that tend to destroy the average rug. Being able to simply pop the dirty rug in the wash so easily also can help eliminate pet odors & allergens instantly without having to spend another $100 or more on a new rug each time.

A v a i l a b i l i t y

Ruggable is available in Lowes' California stores, Select Sears & Sears.com, Kohls.com , Wayfair.com, Home Depot.com+Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores , +Diapers.com  & Fred Meyer Stores.

P r i c i n g

Prices range from $79.99 - $299.99 for a 2- piece set. This is a steal considering you can cut the cost of professional cleaning, additional safety padding, replacements & you can buy just the cover to switch out styles frequently!!

I'm honestly so happy to have been able to find this company! The rug has been comfortable, practical & not to mention the styles they offer are gorgeous!!! I'm super picky when it comes to rug styles & I took a week to pick this Floral Grey 5x7 style because I wanted them all!! I promise you'll love this new style rug for your home!
You can see this style & MANY more @RUGGABLE.COM

Happy & healthy Tuesday!

{ Rustic Style Barn Wedding Venue & Ideas }

Hey everyone!!! Sorry I've been a little MIA these past few days'! I usually blog 3-4 times a week, but honestly this last week has been so busy my head was spinning..We ended this crazy week with an awesome little 2 day getaway for our nieces wedding in Rockford, MI at the gorgeously famous +Hydrangea Blu Barn !  So we were already excited to get away & enjoy some couple time, hotel, exploring/end of summer & of course the stunning venue! When we pulled in we were greeted by the most pristine landscaping, green pastures { & ponies }, charming barn & that's just the beginning!!!  The barn itself is so rustic & vintage with the most stunning wide plank wood floors, huge iron chandeliers & adorable string lights leading outside to the barn patio & gorgeous hydrangea landscaped gardens! Come take a peek at our weekend & gather some rustic wedding ideas! The link to the barn venue will be below if you're interested in renting the barn for your next special occasion!

F a v o r s

Emilee the bride & our niece literally thought of everything in terms of a rustic & cozy style wedding! I mean how cute are these little "grow" packets as favors for guest? The charming details that went into this wedding were stunning, yet so simple & minimalist!

S e a t i n g

This probably was my most favorite part!! I mean cards can become boring & traditional..Using simple sticks with some beautiful writing paired with little galvanized pots of white dainty flowers?! GENIUS!

S i g n s

So keeping with the rustic style of the wedding were coordinated handmade wood signs with simple white calligraphy! I love that they gave the wedding a finished look, but still with that cozy rustic appeal you guys know I crave hehe!

C a k e / C u p c a k e s

I love that they had different flavored cupcakes & used old crates to hold & display them. Cute, rustic & simple!

D e c o r

The decor was so simple, vintagey & cozy! Some simple greenery, country style hydrangea bouquets, galvanized pots & wood crates were all that was needed to accentuate this venue.

The simple deconstructed style cake was amazing! Using a huge wood slice the creamy white cake was topped with some rustic style flowers & voila!

I'll take one of those for my dining room please!!! ;)

** This was the only ceremony picture I quickly snapped out of respect & wishes from the bride / groom not to photograph or film via phone etc..

Side Note: The ceremony was held out in the pasture under a gorgeous mature tree & crisp white pergola!

You guysssss how stunning are these HUGE barrels of flowers?? I wanted to grab them & stick them in our jeep & run hahaha!

The barn was packed with the neatest treasures! I may have wanted to take some signs, tables, wood & basically the whole place .. hahah!

The head table was lined with  fresh whimsical greenery, colorful hydrangeas & these huge glass mason jars from +Target  with simple white candles! Breathtaking!

Keeping with the theme of the head table the guest tables were stacked with a huge mason in the center with the most gorgeous bouquets!

I really hope this wedding gives others ideas on how to create the most simple, but stunning cozy rustic wedding! Be sure to check out the barn if you're in Michigan & looking for a natural & serene venue --> http://www.hydrangeablubarn.com/

Wishing you all a happy & healthy Monday!

{ Simple Cottage Style Fall Decor Ideas.. }

Wait before you gasp that I'm already blogging about Fall decor I have a perfectly good explanation...I'm a BLOGGER, so I need a head start ahahah! Okay, so I know it's a bit early, but in reality summer is coming to an end for most of us & Fall is less than a month away! I was online shopping tonight & decided to put together a few new items I think could work great for that cottage/farmhouse/comfy feel I crave in our little suburban cottage! Just a few staple items to warm any space up, but not overly crazy with everything Fall just yet... ;). Come take a peek at some of these goods!

I hope you guys liked these simple items I picked! They're just enough Fall & I love the cozy feel. When do you guys start decorating for Fall?

Wishing you all a happy Tuesday!

{ EASY Fresh Quiche Recipe }

Hey guys!! So you know occasionally I love to share a simple staple recipe with you all! Today I'm sharing the most yummy quiche recipe for summer/ fall! I feel weird even posting a recipe, because for one I'm not a food photographer & second because I'm not a professional chef. Little fact about me though is I'm a picky eater & no, I'm not skinny haha. I've always been a picky eater ever since nearly a newborn according to my mom. I like to share certain recipes here on the blog that are hearty, homemade & simple! I'm actually shocked I'm posting a recipe based around eggs, because I actually never was an egg kinda person hehe. I followed a simple regular Quiche Recipe & added some of my own little tweaks & ingredients!

R E C I P E

  • 10-12 Eggs { I used medium eggs/ Large pumpkin pie dish }
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • Half Cup of Milk
  • Salt & Pepper { Your Preference }
  • 1 Cup Spinach
  • 1 Large Tomato Diced
  • 1.5 Cups Mozzarella
  • 1 Pack of freezer/fridge dough { See Box Instructions }
  • Chives { Optional }

D I R E C T I O N S

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grab 9-12 medium eggs crack in a bowl, add milk & set aside. Grab your tomato, spinach & mozzarella. Dice the tomato & shred the spinach into about thumbs size pieces. Add the veggies to the eggs/ milk and lastly pour melted butter into the mix. Toss in the salt & pepper and set the mix aside. Take a pie dish & grease it with some cooking spray lightly & spread 1 rolled fridge dough into the dish & fill with the ingredients in the bowl { this is my way;) }! Finish with a bit more salt & pepper & bake for 30 minutes on 400 degrees!

Side Note: I did use Chives in this recipe. Chives are optional.

2.

3.

Enjoy.

Let the quiche cool/set for about 7 minutes & garnished with sprinkled mozzarella!

I hope you guys liked this simple recipe! I love the fluffy texture, simplicity & the fresh ingredients used, yet still giving the pie a hearty comfort foods feel.

Wishing you a happy Monday!

{ MY 29TH YEAR & AN ALL ABOUT ME! }

Ohh boy just starting to write this post has me edgyyyy eek! I can't believe today I am 29!! Seriously, I'm OLD hahaha..I mean how am I 29..I'm not going to lie being 29 makes me anxious already. Ya, 29 isn't "old" really, but to me it feels that way. I think I might be feeling like this because to me it seems like life just started and there is so much left still I want to do..But everywhere I look around I see things/people are moving at 100mph. I want to stop & enjoy the simple things in life like traveling to cute quaint places with my husband, grow both our businesses more & eventually acquire more animals are maybe even have a kid if we get reallly crazy ha ;). I love adventure, but crave structure. Lately I feel like I'm all over the place & that we're so behind. We have accomplished so much & were always a few steps ahead  for our age. Now that our age group is catching up it seems we are slowing down haha. This makes me feel O L D! I think this might be the Higher Powers way of telling us to enjoy the moment and do what we love instead of life's rules of time. That last part is hard for a "planner" like myself ... I'm hoping 29 is a great year, since 28 has been super bumpy with everything new happening with us etc.. I'm ready to take on 29 with an adventurous mind & kind heart.
