{ Cottage Style Cozy Neutral Christmas Mantel }

I've been so excited to get this post out!!!! I wanted to share our cozy rustic Christmas fireplace mantel with you guys because, 1- I painted the mantel box white which I love, & 2 because our Holiday Home Tour will be live soon I wanted to give you a sneak peek! This year really has been flying by & life has been super busy..I went extremely simple & neutral this year with just simple pops of greens, whites & to add a bit of elegance some pops of simple gold bulbs! I used basically everything I had, with the exception of some simple new thrifty & vintage pieces to complete this space! What I love the most is that this space is so simple that just about anyone could recreate it for close to nothing! The cozy feel is exactly what I was going for, with that pop of festive charm! Enough rambling..Come see this space below!!!

This tray was a DIY that I was meaning to blog, but never got the time to. I love the white wash chalk paint paired with the white fireplace & the gold bulbs I set on it! The bulbs are from +Walmart  I added some simple pinecone candles & a mini Christmas tree & done! Super simple & cozy!

I was looking for some super affordable pillows , but wasn't having any luck until shopping with my sister one night! I got this two pair of really nice quality " Peace & Joy" from +Walmart  for $10!!!!!

The skis are vintage & add so much dimension & height to this space! I love how they lay against the vintage doors next to the TV!

These rustic frosted trees are from +Hobby Lobby !

Another free vintage item is this rusted out little metal toolbox!! I spotted it at my grams & had to "borrow" it! I just filled it with some lit garland & another easy element was added effortlessly!

I love how the baskets under the table from +HomeGoods  & the one behind the wreath & the blanket basket tie everything together!

The vintage skates are my favorite!! They add so much charm & character along with the vintage candlestick holder!

I really hope this space gave you some inspiration to decorate this season! I hope going simple & thrifty also gives you some ideas, because honestly practical & thrifty is what TQS is all about!  What's your favorite item to decorate with?

Happy Wednesday!!

P.S. Don't forget to check back tomorrow for another Christmas room post & our FULL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR COMING SOON!

{ Rustic Farmhouse Style Christmas Kitchen Counter Decor}

Hey ya'llllll! I'm sorry today's post is late getting out..I know not the norm here on TQS for a post to come out at like 1pm..You guys can I be really super raw & real for a minute? I'm very tired...Literally haven't slept in almost 2 days..haven't washed my hair in hmm a while & I'm frantically trying to finish our Christmas posts & finish the 2016 Christmas Home Tour post!! With all that going on we've also got a house, dogs, work & managed to squeeze in holiday pictures, decorate & eat haha! I also am busy 3 days a week now { I'm unable to talk about it right now, hopefully sometime soon ;)}, so that definitely takes a bit out of me too. I'm one of those people who requires little sleep{ & no, I don't drink coffee lol }, but man I'm at my limit. Anyways, today I wanted to share our rustic kitchen counter decor with you all!!! I love cozying up our little suburban cottage kitchen & I added some super cute pieces & all for under $20!!  I have two more Christmas post after this one & then our FULL 2016 Christmas/Holiday Tour will be LIVE! I hope you can gather some inspiration & make your sanctuary everything you had envisioned for the season, because it really is the BEST time of the year!

I photographed this whole space & forgot the " 's " in the chalkboard sign...Ahh the life of a blogger haha! I had to go back & squeeze it in, but bonus the lighting was better. I added the copper bow from some leftover fabric & the chalkboard is from +Target  dollar spot!

I spotted this NOEL wood sign at Target when  I bought the sign for our Christmas Dining Room HERE & just had to have it. I've said this before, but I rarely buy wall decor from Target because it's so trendy/popular! When I spotted this though, I knew I had a plan for it & I loved that it has hooks to hang on the wall too!  I added the gold ornaments which are from +Walmart !

The scale is a free vintage find!

I picked up some $3 faux snow from Walmart & added it to our trees from +IKEA USA  & then potted them in some free vintage crocks!

Super cozy /rustic & ties in so well with our rustic dining room this year with the pops of simple gold.

The cute little soap/lotion dish combo is from +HomeGoods .

I hope you guys liked this simple kitchen counter decor! I'm loving the rustic , yet elegant feel from the pops of gold!! Super cozy & you guys know I crave SIMPLE, PRACTICAL & FESTIVE ha!

Wishing you all a lovely Tuesday!

P.S. Don't forget to check back tomorrow for another Christmas room post & our FULL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR COMING SOON!

{ 7 Practical Christmas Tree Decor Tips!!! }

Hey ya'll!!! I hope you had a lovely weekend..Ours was definitely filled to the max, but also fun because we finally got to tool around together, get some errands done, enjoy Christmas decor & we finished our 2016 Christmas card which I live for haha! Sooo with all that being said, I wanted to come on here & have a fresh post from a spot in our little suburban cottage decked all out for Christmas & fresh for you guys to read...Yep total fail today!! I photographed the whole space & realized as I was editing that I left something out & it wasn't fixable as I don't use Photoshop or any other "high tech" photo editing programs. So I might have had two Reese's after that little episode & then jumped to Tuesday's post & switched Monday's...So, today I'm sharing 5 practical decor tips for your Christmas tree!! These are the easiest & most practical tips that anyone can follow to achieve that cozy, festive & stunning professionally decorated looking tree!!!!  I will say first though, because I know I'll get e-mails that I'm in no way a "professional"  tree decorator or claim to be. I've just gathered some tips as the year's have gone by & thought I'd share what I do to maybe help or inspire you in some way this season.

1. FLUFFING

Fluffing the tree is the first thing you need to do before anything. Make sure all the branches are spread evenly & any gaps are pulled together & the branches are nice & big! This is mostly for artificial trees,but real trees also need a little help sometimes.

2. LIGHTS

Add your lights of your choice to your tree! If your tree is pre-lit than just make sure all the bulbs are in working condition & spread nicely around the branches etc..

3. RIBBON/ GARLAND

Our tree is pre-lit, but even when we do have real trees we always start with this step immediately after the lights! I like to go with the traditional 3-4 cascading loop around! I also like to make sure that my ribbon in some way coordinates with my wrapping paper & larger ornaments etc..

Giving you a little sneak peek of our lower level decor & tree..#staytuned!

4. ORNAMENTS/ BULBS

The next step is to add your bulbs & other ornaments you have chosen for the year's theme. Place the larger ornaments on the outside branches to showcase them & a few inside closer to the trunk for dimension! I like to use two different textured bulbs in the same color or similar & then add one large more custom picked ornament! The smaller ones will add uniform, while the larger ones will add charm & showcase more of your theme/style.

The silver assortment of bulbs are from +Walmart

These wooden snowflakes are from +HomeGoods . They were actually garland that I converted!

Side Note: I also like to add in decor. Example the whimsical stars. This is a personal preference, but I think adding in bigger pieces adds more to the tree!

5. GREENERY

After adding the ribbon, decor { optional } & ornaments I like to fill the remaining spaces with sprigs of greenery, flowers, berries etc.. This year's tree I used silver poinsettias & some other  green bundled flowers!

6. TOPPER

This is pretty simple, but add your topper!! You can use angels, letters, bouquets, stars & basically whatever you may want! I have used letters & angels in the past...This year I don't have a designated topper!

7. TREE SKIRT

This is my most favorite part honestly! I'm not one for the traditional "skirts" as they can be kind of boring & flat looking!  I like to use wood trays { last year's tree HERE  }, baskets, crocks, crates & more! I actually blogged all about the different ways with direct links HERE !

**This year's tree skirt will be revealed in our 2016 Holiday Home Tour, but I also like to style the bottom of the tree like above!

I hope this was helpful in some way! In all honesty there's no perfect or right way to style a tree. I think they should reflect you & hold memories for years that you can look back on each holiday season! I really hope you guys liked this post! Let me know what you guys do to decorate your tree & what items you love, whether it be style/color/theme etc..

Wishing you all a lovely Monday!

{ Adding Farmhouse Christmas Charm in 5 Thrifty Steps }

Happy "Black Friday" & the biggest day of the year to decorate for Christmas! I'm not going to lie to you guys our Christmas decor has been up since the end of October,but that is in thanks to blogging. I can't say it's all just because of blogging though..as we usually decorate for Christmas November 1st! Christmas has always been that one thing a year I look forward to because of the great memories I've always had & wanting to spread & share that cozy & magical time. Today I'm sharing how to achieve that cozy farmhouse Christmas feeling in 5 thrifty steps! When I say thrifty, I mean it, no expensive name brand trees, antiques or name brand goods etc.. { It's okay if you do this} , but I wanted to show how EVERYONE can achieve this look no matter what budget you're working with. These are simple steps for the average person, to get that look so many crave around this time! Come see the little list I put together with some pictures from our home!!

1. ADDING RED

Adding red to any space can help you achieve that farmhouse style. Simple pops of red paired with neutral decor help warm up the space without it becoming to "whimsical" & less country farm etc.. I like to use pillows { You can get some great red pillows from +Salvation Army North }. Just wash & pop them on the couch, kitchen chairs, baskets or bed! You can also add pops of red with plain red vintage inspired bulbs! I picked a 12 pack up from +Big Lots  a few years back for $8!! Using cheap $1 wrapping paper can also add simple pops of red. In the above picture I just used some old cardboard boxes & wrapped them with some simple Dollar Tree paper with pops of red!

2. USING FAUX & REAL GREENERY

This is my favorite tip because it's neutral & could almost be free!! I'm the first to say that greenery like garland & wreaths can get expensive!! I LOVE adding greenery all over for Christmas with crisp white lighting because it adds that cozy warmth so simply! You can cut & use your own greenery from pine tops, pine branches & gather pine cones { bake pine cones in the oven for a few minutes to remove any bugs etc.. } & use them as decor in baskets & accents! Greenery can be placed on mantels, tablescapes, baskets etc.. Bringing the outdoors in is the simplest farmhouse tip!!

3. VINTAGE GOODS

This tip is the most important I would say in adding that farmhouse charm! Now I get that not everyone can go "junkin" & pay the high prices for goods like crocks, dough bowls, galvanized buckets, metal stools, chippy furniture, crates etc.. I do have these items & use them, but all mine were either free finds or from thrifty stores!!! You can visit thrift stores & find all kinds of mini crocks, furniture { paint & chip yourself } vintage dishes etc.. I also like to look for this kind of stuff in the summer at garage sales & store up for the Christmas season!

See last year's Christmas Home Tour HERE

4. USE DIFFERENT FINISHES

Farmhouse style has a bunch of mixed in finishes but a couple always stand out to me! Things like old galvanized buckets, chippy painted wood furniture  & metal set the tone for farmhouse style! Anything old or neutral looking will work for farmhouse style finishes! Just keep it simple with the goods & accents with adding in galvanized goods & lots of raw or weathered/aged wood & it brings that "farmhouse charm" instantly!

5. WHITE LIGHTS

This one can be argued over & over again, but ultimately plain white lights paired with wood & greenery are the most farmhouse you can probably get! It's the simplicity that brings in that old fashion charm of  passed Christmases! Now you can use colored lights too, but to me that is more of a "vintage" old fashion Christmas that reminds me of the vintage pinks & more retro style. Something about plain crystal lights can add so much charm! I picked up a huge pack at +Walmart  this year for under $8!!!!

What do you guys think about this thrifty list on how to add cozy farmhouse Christmas charm? Do you have any thrifty ways to add charm to your home, if so leave me a comment or email!!

Wishing you all a wonderful Friday & weekend!!
