{ Farmhouse Style Durable Porch & Patio Decor }

Hey guys & happy Friday!! I wanted to quickly pop on here today since the weathers been super nice here in the mitten for February & everyone has been sprucing their yards, porches & patio areas up. I thought I'd share some cute farmhouse/cottage goods that you could use just about anywhere without worry about if they're covered etc.. I know there are bloggers, designers, stylist etc.. that decorate with items in these areas that aren't for outdoor use, but let's be real that isn't practical in most situations especially if you live in Michigan like I do haha! We get 3 different weather conditions daily & leaving things outside for decor that aren't outdoor approved type thing will ruin pretty quickly & it's just a pain plain & simple! Today I put together some items that you could easily leave outside without them getting ruined by the elements instantly! Come see these cozy farmhouse/cottage style goods to use for the upcoming season in your outdoor spaces!

I love all these goods from the greenery to the galvanized items & woods goods, but the faux garden boots { planters } are my favorite!! I spotted them at Kirklands a few weeks back & I think I'll be picking some up soon!

What do you guys think about these porch/patio style goods? Do you use things that are just for outdoor use or mix items together? Let me know down below!!!

Happy Friday!

{ Early Spring Cottage Style Living Room Decor }

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your Friday started of better than ours did haha..It started Thursday with our WIFI being out & with no resolved issues we called another 2 times before making an appointment at 2am { we work crazy schedules ha } & them sending someone out to our house at 8am replacing all our boxes , tearing my office up a bit & finally getting things back to working! With all that being said that is why today's post is being put out late Friday night/ early Saturday morning which is so random for me...Random is how life has been this last year for us though honestly! It's been crazy trying to grow to businesses from scratch, running a house, animals, family etc..No complaints..well there have been some haha, but I'm just trying to keep trucking along these days. For as long as I can remember I've struggled with change & this "time" thing...It's something that gets a hold of me & I really can't explain why...Maybe that's why I love writing & photography, it's like a documentation?!  I wanted to jump on here today & share some bright spring changes in our upper level living space..The cheery spring touches have me craving spring!

I got sick of our IKEA ottoman snagging the rug, & the top being pulled off, so we decided since it wasn't working for us anymore I would replace it with this little green chippy table/stool! I'm not sure if it will stay, but for right now I love it! I'm on the hunt for a more practical ottoman & have a perfect unique one in the works #staytuned.

Side Note: I would NOT recommend the Ektorp sofa or ottoman. See why HERE

The jute rug is new as well! I switched out our +Ruggable® 2-Piece Rug System  rug { which I LOVE } from our bedroom & replaced it with this one for a more neutral spring look!
**You can read more about the awesome rug you can wash like a blanket HERE

Since it's so early for spring stuff I basically just used things I had already..Ikea greenery, +Target
  wreath, some fresh grey Ikea pillows, chippy wood stool & some flowers etc..

The mini metal vintage toolbox is from my grams & fit perfectly on the chippy white mantel from +HomeGoods ! The black candle stick holders I brought up from downstairs! Everything was super simple,but gave enough of a refreshed feeling for early spring.

What do you guys think about this refreshed space for what I hope to be spring on its way? What do you plan on decorating with to brighten up spaces in your home this year for spring? Let me know down below!

Happy Friday & weekend!

{ Cottage Style Early Spring Fireplace Decor }

Hey everyone!! I hope you all had a lovely start to the week! This was the most unproductive Monday ever for me, I think haha! I blame it on my husband having today off for his birthday hehe! Seriously though I usually have everything done by Sunday for Monday & then spend Monday doing errands & making a big dinner to start the week off...Ehh not this Monday & I'm okay with that actually! It was so nice to lay in bed extra long today with the bright warm sun filling our bed & having a guilty snack brought to me { I'm dieting for vacay }! I don't know if it was our whopping 46 degree "warm" weather here in Michigan that had me wanting to finish a little space while the sun was so bright & cheery or what! I've been mention via INSTAGRAM that I've slowly been adding spring touches around the house...Well I finished one space & it's very green!!!

I had an idea in my head when I started decorating this space...I wanted to stick to 4 basic colors, add tons of texture & bright simple greenery! I ended up using the AtHome topiaries I had bought last year & had on the front porch , because they filled up the sides of the fireplace until some new items come in #staytuned!

This is my most favorite of the simple spring decor..The simplicity of these stems & this farmhouse flower vase are gorgeous I think without being to modern!

I love the old chippy green chair paired with the chippy white mantel..Everything is so fresh & garden- like..my favorite!

The candles & candlesticks are from +HomeGoods  &  +Hobby Lobby !The vintage tan crocks were free junkin finds!

I salvaged these wood farmhouse table legs from a 100 yr old table my late papa & grandma had bought together in Canada! I love old carved legs from tables etc.. so I kept these three! I needed something for in front of the fireplace to cozy it up, so I grabbed these & loved how they looked with the basket above & go nicely with the jute rug coloring & old brown vintage books!

This space like most of our spaces in our little suburban cottage will change again soon..but for now we're enjoying this fresh,decluttered space for spring..What do you guys think about our little cozy fireplace decor?

Happy & healthy Tuesday!

{ 7 Simple Home Decor Fillers }

So the one thing that I pretty much live by when I'm decorating & trying to cozy a space up is fill spaces that the eye goes directly too or that are too open! These spaces are called "filler" spots! They tend to be spots that are hard to find the correct decor for, but need a bit of coziness. Now that I'm thinking about it these items could be called "staple goods" too. They're just all around simple, but easy items to put in a space that needs help..& bonus most of these items are practical & thrifty! I put together the most basic & affordable items that I thought were the best fillers & I use the most in our suburban cottage! These items can be found just about anywhere & in tons of varieties! I thought I'd share this now because with spring right around the corner I want everything fresh, but also less cluttered etc.. These items can help do both!

F i l l e r  I t e m s:

  • Frames
  • Candles
  • Pillows
  • Baskets
  • Greenery
  • Books
  • Mirrors
E x a m p l e:

Our upper level living room. I chose this picture because it's pretty accurate on what I'm explaining in this post & was a good example!
**Some simple frames fill the long shelves inside the cabinets with greenery both inside on the shelving & tall topiaries on top of the cabinet for height! The basket on the chippy green stool is filled with pillows & a basic white +IKEA USA  throw! The cabinet top also has some simple fresh white candles for fillers on each side!

What do you guys think about these items? Do you have basic items you always use while decorating a space? What are your favorite decor goods to use? Let me know in the comments I'd love to know!!!

Happy Monday!

{ Farmhouse Style Early Spring Cabinet Decor }

So something happened in our little suburban cottage yesterday...I FINALLY put away all the winter decor!! It was a little sad for me because unlike most I love winter & I actually loved this years decor 2017 Winter Home Tour . Since our Michigan winter has been super mild &  been more of a muddy mess than anything, I decided to cut the winter decor short in hopes it would brighten things up around our home..& it did!!! I decorated the dining room, fireplace mantel & one of our all-time favorite junkin finds..Our DIY cottage cabinet! The spring decor has already lightened up the upper level & I've even purged a piece of furniture already..making it soo roomy & bright! So, for the ones that are thinking " I just took my Christmas down" or " It's still winter".., no worries our lower level lodge themed area is STILL all winter haha! I'm not that on top of stuff hahaha! The best thing about this brightened up early spring decor is that I haven't spent one penny...yet ha! I just wanted a  little bit of a spruce up & I love the way it turned out! You can see the cabinet makeover HERE .

I wanted just a touch of greenery, so I added these small moss balls, some faux white flowers & an old vintage candlestick holder! The crock, milk glass candle-holder & vintage candlestick holder were all junkin finds!

I didn't like the frame on this +HomeGoods  farmhouse print anymore, but didn't want to destroy the back so I set an old chippy vintage weathered wood one on top of it! It added so much height & charm!

The "HERBS" sign was one of my very first DIY signs ever from about 6 years ago..The color & imperfections went great with this cabinet!

The faux vintage bulbs are from +Hobby Lobby

I hope you guys liked this early spring post! Super simple, yet just enough to feel refreshed especially with all this gloomy weather & rain we've been getting here in the north! Let me know down below if you guys have started decorating for spring yet or when you plan on starting etc..

Wishing you all a lovely Tuesday!
