{ Fresh & Summery 4th of July Tablescape Decor }

Whoa you guys what a week it's been for Mark & I!!! So if you guys follow my INSTAGRAM you would know that I've been sick with tonsillitis for almost a month & this last week Mark developed gerd! It started about 5 days ago & wasn't improving to the point in which he couldn't eat or drink anything..We decided on Tuesday night to quickly get him to the emergency for an EKG, check his ulcer & rule out pancreatitis. He's on the mend now thankfully, but unfortunately our annual summer vacay to our northern Michigan cottage for the 4th has been cut..I'm super bummed, but I'm glad he's improving. With that being said I wanted to pop on here today & share a cute/ simple 4th table since I won't be blogging up north as far as right now goes.. I also wanted to blog this table because I mentioned via my FACEBOOK that I had bought some things while I was in Maine HERE & was going to blog some of the things I picked up, and one being an authentic Maine blueberry crate!

So I'm kind of doing this backwards because I do plan on blogging a post on the best shopping/ antiques in Kennebunk, Maine, but I had to share this crate first..typical me ha! So we were out junkin one day & I spotted a stack of these authentic vintage wood crates stacked in the corner not even knowing if they were for sale..I grabbed one & headed up front & started talking to the owner & she said they were $45, but since I was a blogger/ would be blogging she'd knock $5 off..SOLD! I love the front & back imprint & the old smashed blueberry juice on the inside! BTW how did I not know Maine was known for EVERYTHING blueberry??

My ultimate theme for this 4th dining room was cozy/ picnic celebration style with that summery vibe... I pretty much love the simplicity & I may have devoured all those perfect strawberries after photographing ha whoops!

I hung this flag on a whim over the current artwork & I blogged about it HERE

Fresh summer berries, flowers & masons...Everything summer entails. P.S. the atlas masons are from Maine too & for only $5 each!!! I wish Michigan had the junkin like Maine does..if you ever get the chance go visit Kennebunkport, Maine..it's absolutely STUNNING!

What do you guys think of this summer 4th table? Let me know what you all decorate with for summer / the 4th below!

{ 5 Practical Steps to Figure out Your Style & Decorate }

So something dawned on me today as I was restyling our kitchen for an upcoming post...I've had many styles since 2008 when we bought our first home! I went through  many "phases" to get to where I'm at today & that's a cottage/garden/farmhouse style I love & evoke throughout our little suburban cottage. This however was not always the case & I feel like if I share some of my simple tips maybe I could save you a few dollars on wasted items that you don't love, but rather bought because you might be having a difficult time decorating your new home etc.. I know when we got our first place I thought I liked modern because that's what was in & so I went crazy & bought everything that was black, white or grey..even if I didn't like it, but because it "matched" hahah eek! I soon realized that I actually liked a more vintage cozy style..BIG change right?! I learned the hard way before blogging/Pinterest was a big thing, but hopefully I can help you today!

1. PICK A COLOR PALETTE

 I chose our master bedroom color because it's the brightest in our home { everything else is neutral }. I always say common areas should remain more neutral... You can add more color depending on the mood you're trying to achieve in your bedrooms, while still sticking with a similar pallet. Although this color is bright it pairs nicely with many options & flows nicely too. Go with colors you can switch decor out with easily & you won't tire of quickly!

2. CHOOSE YOUR STYLE BY THINGS YOU LOVE

This summery dining post is the perfect example of choosing things you love to decorate your home with! I spotted this @homegoods painting & knew I HAD to have it because I loved every inch of it! It not only showcased everything I love in my home { greenery & cottage style } ,but it also had my favorite flowers! I didn't just buy it because it " matched" other items,but because I LOVED it! Try not to purchase items you don't love or are just buying because they match or you want to fill a spot!

3. START WITH 1 ROOM AT A TIME
This tip I'm sharing with you will be kind of controversial in the decor/ blog world, but for me starting out in one room helps me center what I want to do with the rest of the house. Getting one room set just the way you like, then building from that room so everything flows nicely is so much easier than randomly decorating different spots all at once! I always start with the living room in our homes.. It's the heart or center of most homes & sets the bar on what you want to achieve with your style!

4.  ADD RUGS+ FURNITURE & LARGER ITEMS FIRST THEN DECOR
Adding  the larger items like rugs & furniture can center your room & help you navigate what you want to fill your spaces with! Do you like more color? or more neutral? Once you have these items you can build your style up from there!

5. ACCENT ROOMS WITH COLORED CURTAINS, PILLOWS ETC..
The easiest way to bring a room or space together is to add accents! Accents in the way of curtains, pillows, throws etc.. I personally like to bring a lot of my style in with all of these! Right now I have a floral slipcover, so all my pillows are neutral along with my curtains! When my slipcover was white I added a few different colored pillows & patterned curtains!

Did these tips help you at all? What tips have you learned from decorating spaces? I'd love to hear what you think below!!

Happy Tuesday!!

{ Stunning -Maine- Home & Landscape Tour }

Well hello everyone & welcome back!! If you've been following me on my social media outlets { located on left sidebar of blog } you'd know I took a road trip up the New England coast with a friend & my sister this past week!! I visited Maine when I was 14 & fell in love, so I waned to revisit & that's just what I did! I've always had an obsession with the East coast & all its old world charm, delicious seafood & charming homes galore!! I had some messages on Instagram as to where I was at etc.. so I thought I would do a few posts & the first being some gorgeous home inspiration & scenic views of everything New England & essentially what Maine entails!!  I think the main thing that caught my eye the most was the gorgeous historical homes & the abundant greenery & flowers in just about every yard in Kennebunk etc.. It must be all the humidity or salt from the ocean ha! Anyways come see this charming little glimpse of my past 4 days in good ole Maine!

  • Cape Elizabeth

I love that most of the historical homes were left just as they would have somewhat looked back in the late 1700's & 1800's! This white colonial style with the simple flag stopped me in my tracks! It's so simple, yet historical looking...

  •  Kennebunk Beach

The tide had just came in & I wanted to capture the magnificent downtown Kennebunkport town & all of it's glory. All the little shops are on stilts & raised, definitely something to see, and quite frankly a bit scary!!

This was a candid shot my dear sister got of me admiring the flowers in downtown! We has just stopped for Ice Cream on the hill in the quaint little Ben & Jerry's & of course I had to stop & look at my surroundings ha!

I mentioned via my social media, but the salt marshes even as a kid were always my favorite! They're absolutely beautiful & magical/cozy all in one! The houses that were on them were out of this world..& I have to admit something...every time I would see a salt marsh & landscapes like this I would look for wildlife/ moose sightings haha..Only me!

{ DIY Farmhouse Style Back Entryway Makeover for FREE! }

It's 2am & I'm trying to get this post out for you guys because I leave for my girls trip to Kennebunkport Maine in 24hrs! I still have a lot to finish & of course my OCD self has to have everything in order before I leave. I've said this a million times before,but I ALWAYS seem to take on projects right before vacation..just like this time HERE. Anyways a few days ago when I was still feeling gross from that virus I contracted I stepped outside for a few minutes & cleaned this little buffet Mark had found the week before! I had been wanting to add something a bit bigger to our back entryway, but it is small! When he spotted this junkin treasure I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it..add it to our back door/ patio entry! I hate having shoes, keys, & everything else laying around in the dining room, so this was the perfect solution..& the inside is huge for his work boots, sunscreens, sunglasses & million of keys! This little piece only took about 2 coats of black chalk paint & some washing & it was complete..win win in my book! Come see the rest below!

So in true "Paige" fashion I forgot to take before pics..I had this one from when I sent to my mom & well it needed some paint ha! Like I said above I just scrubbed it clean & painted the top & bottom trim black with black chalk paint from @target!

I love how large the inside bottom cabinet is & it does have a shelf for double level it need be..The more storage the bigger until we move right?!

It fit perfect in the space & it's a charming little piece all for FREE! I mean who can beat that right?

Both galvanized pieces are from @target! The wall organizer holds leashes, change etc.. & the tray holds everything we drop on it haha! I should mention I also wasn't to worried about the height, because we have a coat rack/ drop zone on the stairs right across from this area as you walk in the back door!

**See what this space looked like before HERE

What do you guys think about this free little DIY makeover for our back entry? Do you have a "drop zone" in your home? Leave me any storage ideas below..more the better ha!

Wishing you all a happy Thursday & weekend!

{ Garden Style Summer Living Room Wall Decor using Outdoor Baskets }

Happy Monday friends! I'm just going to get right into today's post since I have so much stuff to get done before my vacay to Maine on Friday & since I've literally been sick for 7 days now..I had big plans to blog a DIY I wanted to finish & blog, but I just didn't have the energy to paint or take the heat today especially with being on a steroid shot. I did step outside to wash the piece Mark brought home, but that's about it. While I was outside for the whole 20 minutes I decided to grab these rustic hanging baskets that we bought from @homedepot a few years back for the front porch. They've held up super well & I thought  I give them a quick wash & try them in our upper level living space..I've been on the hunt for something to fill this wall space other than sconces & to my surprise I actually liked them! I ended up just sticking some @ikea branches quickly & for now they will do! I love that they're simple, neutral & can be used differently easily! Come read more below!

These hanging baskets have held up so well over the past few years & they've been in the elements as well. I believe they were $15 each & I did see some similar a few weeks ago at Home Depot!

The piggies kept "bombing" my photos as I was photographing so I kind of just went with it! I mean her cute little pink sailor collar matches the decor so why not right?! Ha Ha!

When spring hit I had a vision in my head that I wanted to make our upper living room more "garden style" rather farmhouse style with all the plain whites, creams & just greens. Though I love that style, I do find it super trendy right now & I was just plain getting bored with it! When we bought this floral slipcover HERE I promised myself to add a few more garden style touches & color for summer!

Well there you have it, some simple rustic hanging baskets brought indoors as wall decor! I'm excited to play around with these soon..What do you guys think about these added to this wall?

Happy Monday!

Wishing you all a happy & healthy Friday & weekend!
