{ Dusty Farmhouse Style Fall Mantel }

Hey everyone & happy Friday!!! Whoa this weeks been a long for us..not that anything bad happened { knock on wood }, but it's just been super busy with work, life & everything in between! Latley we've been taking country car rides on Sundays to see future properties that might work for what we're looking for in a small farm & then getting Chinese takeout after..Last weekend was no exception & when we got home I got super inspired to decorate our upper level living room { lower level family room update coming soon } fireplace mantel with some simple dusty flowers & neutral pumpkins that I picked up at Michaels on sale for under $3 a piece! I've been really into simplifying spaces & also loving that "muted dusty look" if that's a thing even hahah! Of all the mantels I've styled I think this one was the more simple & you know what? I loveeee it!  Come take a closer peek down below..

I love these dusty neutral pumpkins from Michaels!! They are the perfect color & still give that cozy fall feeling without being dramatic orange or just boring white.. The larger white pumpkins are also from Michaels for $10 & I loved the light distressing on them for that cottagey/farmhouse look!

There are a few things I want to change about this space, like adding new  fall greenery instead of the topiaries, painting the wood crates & adding a vintage style sign etc..but for now I'm loving the quaintness!

The barn painting is a DIY I did one night when I was bored..I was going to blog it, but honestly I'm so artist { that's my BFA sister }. I tried to incorporate what she has taught me..not sure I nailed it haha. I love it on the mantel though.. It adds simple charm right?!

{ DIY Farmhouse Fall Living Room Chalkboard Makeover }

Hey guys!! Thanks for dropping back in for another fun little post with me haha!I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We didn't do anything too exciting other than look at a few properties & took a nice country drive, and finished the night off with the some Chinese takeout..Sometimes it's the simple weekends that are the best right?! So, I mentioned a few weeks ago that while I was cruising home one morning after grocery shopping I spotted a huge chalkboard in the trash & of course whipped the Jeep around & shoved it in my backseat! When I got home I knew I wanted to paint over the gold frame & give the chalkboard part a fresh coat of paint. I decided since I haven't use the Rust-Oleum chalk paint spray paint I wanted to dry that & I decided to pick up their chalkboard paint too { I actually prefer Devine Color by Valspar from Target }. I loved that the chalkboard was already framed out & the size was perfect for what & where I was going to put it! I kind of had a plan as what I wanted our fall living room to entail { separate post coming soon} & the chalkboard fit perfectly into that vision! Enough of me rambling, come see the finish look below & a sneak peek of our fall living room!

Supplies:

  • Chalk Paint { I used Linen White }
  • Chalkboard Paint
  • Old Towel
  • Chalk { to season }
  • Paint brush

I just placed the towel inside of the frame basically...I knew I was freshening up the black so it didn't matter too much at this point!

Side Note: The chalk paint was nice. It went on evenly & dried super quick with that thick chalky finish! I did distress mine with a bit of dark wax after!

I used about 3 coats of chalkboard paint. I then seasoned it with chalk & wiped cleaned with a damp rag!

- AFTER -

The size, color & simple detail are just what I was envisioning & for under $20 for this makeover!! I'll be sharing more details on this space for fall super soon etc.. It's changed quite a bit since our summer living room HERE
I'm loving the new slipcover, dark tones, new furniture piece HERE & how simplified & darker things are..Can you tell I'm ready for fall.

What do you guys think about this living room chalkboard makeover? Do you  like the new simple look? Let me know down below & I also hope you all LOVE the new Blog layout!!!

Happy Tuesday!

{ New Farmhouse Style Dresser Makeover in the Living Room }

Okay so before I get into this post I have to say that these aren't the best pictures & I didn't makeover this piece { my lovely momma did }, but I'm SO EXCITED to share it with you all that I couldn't wait to blog it, so I'm sharing it now haha! It belonged to my dad when he was a boy & since my gram has been transitioning to her new abode we've slowly been trying to keep the sentimental goods!! My mom saved this piece & I didn't even know it, but when she showed me the after I almost cried!! It's literally the coolest piece, not because it was my dads or because my awesome mom did such a great job BUT because it's sentimental & sooo cozy!! I love that she left it natural & just added some plain white large knobs..totally my style, so in true Paige fashion I asked her for it right away hahaha! Come see more of this vintage piece below!

At first I wasn't sure about the bold white knobs, but when I got them in our living room with the revamp { post coming soon } I knew I was keeping them & then realized why I love home decor etc.. so much because of my mom & why would I ever doubt her style ability haha!

Side Note: She simply stripped the piece, stained with mahogany stain & added the new white knobs!

I think why I love this piece so much is because it's so much darker than I usually would put in our home! I actually told my mom I was painting it & she freaked out hahaah so, I agreed to leave this beauty & I'm so glad I did! This is the perfect dark & cozy piece for fall & it fit so perfectly in the spot!

**You can see these DIY coasters I made HERE!

What do you guys think about this new piece we added to our upper level living room? Do you like to decorate with darker & warmer colors for the upcoming fall season? Let me know what you think below in the comments - I LOVE hearing from you all!

{ Cozy Cottage Style Fall Kitchen Nook }

Happy Monday everyone!!! I can't believe the weekend is over..I mean I say that a lot on TQS, but I truly mean it this time haha..Like where did Saturday & Sunday go??? This weekend was a busy one for us in all aspects including both businesses that needed tending to, home stuff & just life upkeep. After everything was caught up or kind of caught up we sat down & just looked at each other & said how accomplishing & fun of a team we make....Cliche I know, but so true! This weekend I tore our house up revamping the whole upper living room, adding pieces to the dining room & basically making a disaster that I had to clean this morning among ten million other things..One little space I started on a whim after craving some fall , yes FALLL  already ha was this little corner in our dining room! I mentioned via IG HEREthat August is kinda a weird transition month for me & I usually start decorating for fall after my birthday & that's just what I did this weekend!! I wanted to start fall decor off with a bang with some festive & colorful decor, because lets be honest all other decor probably will be neutral! I also have to admit this space has already changed..Yup, I change out stuff that quick haha! Anyways come & see this festive little nook to start off everything PUMPKIN coming soon!

I mentioned via Facebook HERE  about this table & how it has special meaning to me..Well it does! So my gram has been transitioning from her home of over 50 years to a new one & this table was hers..My mom asked if I wanted it & of course I did!! It's a super cool piece, I loved the black & I knew exactly where I was going to put it & what I was going to do with it! I've been wanting to change up this corner so this new old ladder & table were the new pieces & then I just styled something simple for fall!

I used three different types of pumpkins & like I stated above I wanted to kick start fall with some cozy cottage & BRIGHT pumpkins!

I just used some goodies I found downstairs while cleaning my office / decor room & some stuff I found in our "treasure" pile after we cleaned the garage..See we've been busy bees!

** Let me know if you'd be interested in a decor room post etc.. I get asked frequently how I store so much stuff etc..

I hope you guys liked this first of very many fall pumpkin posts!! I'm someone who loves the cooler weather, so I'm really excited for everything cozy!
