{ Jute Rug REVIEW- What you NEED to Know... }

Hey everyone & happy Friday!! I'm going to jump right into today's post because it's going to be quite long...So I know a lot of other bloggers have done this "jute rug review", but I'm here to tell you what's really up with these ever sooo popular rugs circulating in the blog & decor world...Just like my Ektorp sectional review HERE I'm going to bust some peoples bubbles, but I'll risk the comments etc.. to hopefully inform those that are on the fence about these rugs with a blunt & honest review without sugarcoating anything..So we bought our first jute rug back in 2012 before they were even popular..I didn't even know they were this popular & bought ours on clearance at IKEA. I just needed something large, neutral & thrifty & the one that is in our living room was only $41 for an 8x10!!!  Throughout the years we have purchased more jute rugs, but with the protective layer on them from Target..The one in the living room & our dining room { also from Ikea} are "bare back" meaning they are not equipped with the fabric or protective back so things don't fall through...Keep reading below to find out WHY this is ESSENTIAL before buying...

PROS:
  • Durability
  • Neutral
  • Hide dirt..kind of.
  • Easy surface cleaning
  • Cost effective
  • Soft texture

Cons:

  • Upkeep.They shed horribly & the pictures above prove it { I just vacuumed 1.5 days before }! If you purchase the ones without the protective backing like the ones from Target, then they shed this dirt like fiber mess..I'm a clean freak, so for me this is super annoying. You can put a pad underneath them,but they still shed.
  • Smell. They tend to smell when they get wet ect.. Not so pleasant & the smell stays within them unfortunately.
  • Washing. You can't wash these jute rugs with water because of the fibers..For me that is a no..I have however in an emergency situation sprayed a smaller one down with the hose with the protective backing & it was fine, and no smell..Guess it all depends. I would recommend my Ruggable brand rug instead HERE
  • Snags. This for me isn't so much a problem, but they do snag & the looping may become loose.
  • Coloring. These jute rugs after time get "dark spots" in them. They look like dark round stains, but it's just the fibers. Again, not a big deal, but not the cutest either.

So you ask " Why if they were a pain to me" did I keep buying them & placing them all around the house? Well, that's simple- I LIKE the look & didn't know all of this with the first 3 that were bought within a few weeks of each other. Also, like explained above the ones with the protective backing aren't as much as a pain to clean etc..:)

The ones in the kitchen ironically are the ones with the protective backing, but I liked the layered look so I used some carpet tape & layered the jute on a plain black rug with a rubber backing.

I sincerely hope this review was perfect for you to make your decision. Either way there will always be pros / cons to everything so, whatever decision you make will be the best for you in the long run. This was just to simply state what I DO/ DON'T like & quite frankly I WISH I knew all of this information while shopping around for rugs.

Happy Friday!!

{ Cozy Fall Neutral Farmhouse Bedroom Look }

WHOAAAAA hey guyssss!! This is the LONGEST I've ever gone without blogging which isn't great for my business,but I've had a lot of personal family health issues going on & have been tending aka crying to those. I have been keeping up on social media { follow me } for direct updates! I decided yesterday I needed to deep clean our bedroom { which wasn't dirty..keep reading } & while I was cleaning I decided to snap some pictures of our new ruffle bedding, decor & then of course I started styling for fall & decided to make a blog post out of it! I mentioned via my Instagram that I would be telling you all a little something personal about myself..Here it goes..so for the longest time I have had OCD. I wash my hands a ton, am terrified of germs, use 3 gallons of antibacterial spray & just don't like dirt, blood or anything in that area to where it controls me sometimes. I laugh, but in all honesty it runs my life to the point where I used to be up until 3am vacuuming & making sure the house was in perfect condition..from washing bedding to rugs & anything else. We have an ongoing joke in our family about me blowing up vacuums & even got noise complaints in our first place {condo} about the excessive cleaning..So the reason why I'm telling you this is because our room isn't just someplace to cuddle,sleep etc.., but truly my sanctuary!! Many people with OCD have what we call "safe zones" & for me this is one of them! I feel relaxed & not compelled to clean or disinfect every inch of it constantly. Come take a peek at this super simple cozy room of ours below!

As you can see I didn't go crazy in this space for fall this year..Super simple, cozy & warm!! Speaking of warm..why was it 93 degrees today here in Michigan?? I'm soo ready for fall weather in this comfy vanilla room of ours! I refer to it as the "vanilla room" because it always smells of vanilla & coco butter haha my signature scent as many people tell me!

The duvet is not new, but the creamy ruffled bedding is from Ollies & the neutral lumbar pillows I just turned around in some the photos! I kind of shot this space styled in a few different ways while I was playing around with it...typical me!

I have a lot of sentimental items throughout our room! The brown journal is a book we right back & forth to each other or just notes to one another etc.. The bear has a special story I'll share one of these days too.

I moved this piece of furniture in here too & love it as a nightstand!

{ Our Cottage Style Rustic & Thrifty Fall Dining Room }

Another week down almost & another weekend upon us..Is it just me or does it seem like time these days is just flying by?! I've mentioned this before, but "time" for me is such an issue! I hate looking back & thinking "wow that was so long ago"..With that being said lately my anxiety has been crazy & on top of all that I haven't been feeling the best health wise, & that leads me into this post!! So the blog is not only my business, passion & baby but also my place to release anxiety with being creative & hopefully inspiring you with practical home decor, projects & tips!! Fall is that start to the year that makes me feel so much better not only physically, but mentally too. It's everything cozy, calming & beautiful, and that leads us into the holidays which you guys know is my happy time! So today I'm sharing our fall kitchen with some super simple touches..I usually go crazy with the fall decor, but this year I chose to go really simple & if we're being honest it's my favorite! Come take a closer peek below..

So I moved this cubby up from downstairs a few days ago & loved it!! At first I thought it might compete with the corner cabinet, but it didn't & it also hides the numerous holes in this poor wall hahaha..The tiny neutral pumpkins fit perfectly & I love how the cubby picks up from the wood tones in the picnic basket, centerpiece basket & the huge DIY sign over the patio door { Post coming soon }!!

I picked up this runner from the Target "dollar spot" & I don't think it could be any more perfect for this space!!! I usually don't have much luck at the Target dollar spot, but this was a definite score for $3!!

Side Note: All sources at end of post!

You will see in some of the photos the black & white sign isn't pictured..That's because at the last minute of photographing I added it from outside & it just finished the space off!! It was a junkin find & fit perfectly with the cozy neutral farmhouse fall style I was going for...& because I'm sign CRAZYYY hahaha!

These plates fit perfectly with my theme I was going with this fall, so I kept them int he cabinet! You can read more about these plates I've been collecting HERE

I may have a black & white sign addiction haha..

One of these days I'll replace the shades on our vintage chandy..Ahh some things never change haha, but hey it's real life right?! So, what do you guys think about this super simple fall table??

Well, today { Sunday } was the day & we threw some hats on, henleys & headed out to go pickin or junkin..It then dawned on me while visiting each booth, drinking the yummy lemonades & touring the historical homes that I've NEVER done a post on what to look for/ buy while out flea marketing etc..
