{ Simple Fall Table Centerpiece & a New Art Piece!! }

Heyyyy guys! Welcome back & welcome to any new readers!! I've noticed my numbers have jumped quite a bit in the last week, so I just want to say THANK YOU soo much! I truly appreciate you stopping by my little practical blog. Today I'm back with a simple cottage/farmhouse table vignette featuring my new favorite art piece!! You guys know I love anything simple, neutral or rustic & this piece has all of that plus the detail & handmade craftsmanship are great! It's one of those pieces you could have for years & display all through fall without going overboard with color etc.. It's one of a kind & the simplicity is definitely eye catching!!

This is probably my most favorite centerpiece since blogging! It screams cozy vintage farmhouse love & of course all while being thrifty & creative!! Speaking of creativity the main focal point { the art } will be available soon ;)!!! I can't wait to share this new little custom gem with you guys!!

The pumpkins are from last year from Dollar Tree, the tiny succulents are from Family Dollar, brown glass masons from +Target  & the tea towel is from a cute local general store!!
**The artist, info & name will be coming soon :)!!!!

I love how cozy, yet simple this centerpiece is!! So little secret because I can't lie to you guys..I photographed this space yesterday for today's blog post & well the lighting in our kitchen is legit overpowering at times, so I had to wait until the right time & re-position the little vignette! This is why today's post is late coming out...

Each piece comes with a different frame! I chose this one because it fit so well with the fall theme in our dining room!

Hoping you guys loved this little styled centerpiece!!! I'm obsessed with how it came together, our rustic barn door backdrop & especially that little art piece!! Stay tuned for more details & as always have a lovely day!!

As always THANK YOU for stopping in on my little growing blog. I know everyone says something like this, but I honestly appreciate each of you for sharing my posts, commenting etc....I'm not the biggest or most popular blogger, but I am humble, real & practical ,and  hopefully helpful or inspiring in someway :).

{ -Farmhouse Style - Early Fall Porch!! }

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope your weekend was amazing..we didn't do anything crazy fun, but I did get a lot accomplished around the house & got to enjoy our gorgeous early fall Michigan weather! I swear I get so much done on the weekends when my poor hubby works all weekend, but I'm not complaining, because that's what entrepreneurs do right?! I'm pretty excited to get away for our anniversary coming soon, so I've been working super hard  to get some fall posts out etc.. This weekend I finished styling our cozy little porch, washed the pibbles & maybe finished a little DIY coming soon for you guys ;)!!

My hubby found these vintage glass apple cider jugs a few months ago & they've been sitting in our pile of "treasures" ever since. I was in the garage & that prompted me to start  decorating our little early fall porch this weekend!! I mean what's fall without some delicious apple cider, which happens to be my favorite drink ever haha!
**The battery operated lanterns are from +Big Lots

These orange flowers are from Dollar Tree & I kind of love them!! I'm usually more neutral, but something about them was a bit different, but still fall-ish!! I'm sorry I don't even know the name..#blackthumb!

Along with the vintage glass cider jugs the vintage wheel was also a free find! It was the perfect backdrop against the brick & wood bench!
**The green throw is from +IKEA USA !

You guys this is the most softest throw ever!! It's so light, but cozy warm too!! The mums I got for under $4 each +Walmart  which I was ecstatic about since I've paid close to $20 before...eek!

The wire baskets, galvanized buckets, & baskets are all free finds! I love using durable things out front that will withstand the Michigan weather. Aside from the throw & chalkboard everything stays out & isn't just for "staged" pictures etc.....All about practicality here on TQS!

I'm pretty much in love with this year's porch so far...You can see last years post here -->2015 Fall Harvest Porch

I picked up these little neutral burlap pumpkins from Dollar Tree, YESSSS Dollar Tree!!! I may have grabbed like 10 haha!

Well there's our early fall porch friends! You guys know this space probably will change 10x before the season is over, but that's the fun in it right?! Hope you all loved this bold & festive porch at our little suburban cottage!!

Wishing you all a blessed start to the week!!

{ 5 Best Chalk Paint Brands with Prices & Sources Provided }

Wow this week is moving right along!! I can't believe it's already Wednesday..I don't know what this "time" thing has on me lately but it's been really getting to me...Maybe it's that change thing I hate, but it seems like time is moving at a rapid pace these days!! Anyways today I'm sharing something I get asked about literally ALL the time & usually just ramble off places etc.. Everyone knows that chalk paint has been a huge hit in the last few years because of its quick drying time, covering abilities, no-prep & look! I started about 4 years ago using Annie Sloan brand chalk paint without knowing much about it..It took me forever to locate a dealer close to us & at the time there weren't many other comparable/cheaper brands that offered the chalk paint style etc.. Today that has all changed!!! I literally spot new chalk paint brands popping up all over the place..I'm sharing 5 of my favorites not only personally, but because 4/5 are  offered at popular stores that most everyone has access to easily, because you guys know I like to keep it practical & helpful!! Come see these 5 chalk paint brands with prices & locations below!!

••Find more of your Craft Store needs HERE

1. R U S T-O L E U M  CHALK PAINT

Rust-oleum brand products have been around forever!! I'm a super fan of their spray paints etc.. About a year ago while cruising +The Home Depot  I spotted they now offer chalk paint in this brand!!!  Funny, because about 4 years ago while in the The Home Depot trying to find chalk paint everyone was totally clueless as to what I was asking for & directing  me to the "chalk board" paint.  The two most popular places I found the Rust-oleum brand chalk paint  were @ +Walmart  & +The Home Depot  for around $12.10 for 30fl oz.

2. M A R T H A  S T E W A R T  CHALK PAINT

This wasn't a shock when I spotted her brand while browsing +Michaels Stores ! I usually buy a different brand that Michaels offers, but I do love her variety of colors available. Her brand is also offered in many popular mainstream places like Michaels, The Home Depot, Walmart & JoAnn Fabrics!! Her brand is called Vintage Decor Paint & you can buy it for around
$7.99 for 6fl oz.

3. W A V E R L Y { Plaid brand } CHALK PAINT

I found this brand about 6 months ago while looking in the craft isle of Walmart!! I knew they offered affordable crafts & paints, but had no clue they offered Waverly chalk paint & in so many colors!!! I love that they offer different sizes too & all the colors are great! This is one of my most used chalk paints for smaller projects, because of the price, colors & ease of getting them! They're a really great quality & I have had nothing but great experiences with these paints!! You can find these at Walmart for around
$9.47 for 16fl oz.

4. A N N I E  S L O A N  CHALK PAINT

The queen herself Ms. Annie Sloan!! Seriously she's the one that got me hooked on chalk paint & everything it entails!! To this day I still LOVE her line, waxes & brushes!! My very first chalk paint project over 4 years ago was an old coffee table in "Old Ochre" & "Graphite". I had no clue where to grab some of her paints & had my husband take me all over the city trying to locate them! She only offers her paints at registered retailers & online..The online process of ordering & locating a location close to you is SO EASY now!!! You simply type in your location & the closest retailer pops up! These paints go on like butter & seal like nobody's business. You can buy them for around
 38.95 for 32fl oz.

5. A M E R I C A N A  D E C O R { DecoArt brand } CHALK PAINT

Okay, this is my MOST used chalk paint other than the Waverly! I found this about 3 years ago after I couldn't locate another brand. I found it originally at The Home Depot & then randomly at Michaels & +Kmart  too! I love that they come in little plastic jars & they're super thick!!! You can buy them for around $9 for 8fl oz.

Whoa that was a long post!! I hope this was soo helpful for you guys & this little list makes your crafting & painting so much easier!!!

Wishing you all a happy & healthy Wednesday!

{ Modern Cottage & Farmhouse Fall Dining Room Decor }

Hello to day number 2 on this little beginning of fall tour around our little suburban cottage!!! I told you guys I don't get kid around about the holidays haha.Today I'm sharing a little sneak peek of our dining room..It's not fully decorated & most likely will change 10 more times before the end of September, but it's definitely starting to look cozy, warm & festive! I used a lot of stuff I had from last season, not only because I wanted to start out slowly, but I've noticed that I do this every year, then randomly start throwing in new pieces..Maybe it's my hoarding of decor haha or my way of seeing what I'm using or can incorporate into this season without breaking the bank account!! We've recently added a bunch of new pieces in this space including a new rug from +Ruggable® 2-Piece Rug System  switched out tables AGAIN & so on..Come see the dining room splashed with a bit of fall decor!!

You guys know I'm always using decor in ways that aren't conventional...I set this runner on the ladder & loved it, so I just left it for now! I picked this up +Marshalls  last year for under $10!

I decided to add this little toolbox I found while junkin in my gram's shed to the china cabinet with some little burlap pumpkins from Dollar tree! The wreath is from +Kohl's .

Both of these frames are free vintage finds.

 You can see the art DIY from last season here:DIY Dollar Tree Fall Art

I'm obsessed with our new washable rug from Ruggable!!! Seriously if you guys have a high traffic area or animals then this rug is for you! I have a whole post on it here:Ruggable Review

I'm loving this cozy modern farmhouse style!! I usually go really rustic/raw/chippy with decor, but recently have been loving the modern cottage/farmhouse style!

Hope you guys loved this fall dining room sneak peek!

Happy Tuesday!

{ Vintage Style FALL Mantel Decor }

Happy Labor Day guys!!! Hoping you all are having a lovely weekend with loved ones doing what you love! I wanted to get this post out today because it's September finally & you guys know what that means in the blogging world..Time for everything FALL related haha! In all seriousness we kind of have our own holiday schedule & September 1st is fair game for everything cozy & warm! I'll be doing a little Home series tour like last year showcasing different areas in our little suburban cottage decked out for the season. Today I'm sharing our ultra simple & rustic fireplace mantel using free junkin finds & some warm cozy fall accents! It seems like summer went by so fast here in Michigan, but we're grateful we got to take two little trips & our last one coming at the end of September. Truth be told, I actually love the cooler weather!! Grab something pumpkin spiced & come take a peek at our little cottage/farmhouse style fireplace for now ;)!

I wanted a very simple, but cozy style fireplace & of course I wanted to use stuff I had already.. You guys know I love brown glass & I had a ton of these vintage brown bottles! I decided to use an old watering can with a rusty orange spout, some basic +Michaels Stores  terracotta pots & added some greenery from +IKEA USA ! I like how the pots bring in the orange I crave around this time of the year, but it's still pretty neutral! I decided to go with a more simple neutral space upstairs this year & our lower level has been splashed with some traditional fall colors & pumpkins!

Sources: The ceramic pumpkins are from Dollar Tree, white pumpkins are from +Michaels Stores & the candle-holders are vintage!

I decided to add some neutral pillows, but that may change soon.. These are from +Marshalls .

I picked up this little wood sign for under $6 last year +HomeGoods  & it literally made this little mantel! I totally forgot I had it & I wanted something rustic, traditional & with some fall theme wording, so this thing little decor item was perfect & cheap!
**Stay tuned for some exciting news coming on the blog this week..#art #fall

So another thing about fall I crave are lights & the little ambiance they set..I don't know if it's the cozy fall feeling I crave or what, but when I spotted these cute little battery operated string lights from +Marshalls  for $9 I snagged them up! They're perfect for those cool fall evenings when it's too warm for the heat, but just a little fireplace warmth instead. Simple battery pack with a switch for those areas you have no wall plug!

I hope you guys liked this cozy little fireplace mantel! I'm curious as to when you guys start decorating for fall? Let me know down below & happy Monday!!!

{ DIY Galvanized "Gather" Kitchen Sign }

Hey guys!!! Today's post is going to be a little different at least for me..It's short, simple & well ALL the pictures are from at night!!! Yup, you read that correctly..all at night. I have a little confession to make here on the TQS..our kitchen is the most difficult space to photograph in our home! The light is crazy & not crazy in a good way, so I decided to do something I thought I would never do.. PHOTOGRAPH AT NIGHT!! Just typing that makes me kind of cringe haha. I mean for any blogger that's just kind of a no-no! We strive for light, bright & clear photos, but sometimes that isn't possible in every situation at least for my little practical blog haha! I've been meaning to finish this super simple & rustic DIY for the past week, but you know that thing called "life" gets in the way sometimes so today is the day!
S u p p l i e s:

  • Chalk paint
  • Scrap wood/solid surface
  • Brush/sponge
  • Letters

D i r e c t i o n s:

  • Wipe wood off
  • Paint with color of choice
  • Distress wood { brillo pad or wire brush } then wax { optional }
  • Position letters
  • Attach letters { nails or 3m }

I picked these letters up at +Hobby Lobby  after failing at +Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores  & +Michaels Stores . Seriously who would have thought that finding some simple letters would be so hard ?! Anyways I'm glad I ventured out to Hobby Lobby & found these medium galvanized textured tin style letters for under $3 each!

I used an old wood leaf from a table we had & just painted & distressed it with some +Wayfair.com  chalk paint from +Walmart  in a custom mixed color of Ivory & White! I used some clear Annie Sloan wax to finish it.

You can see that I positioned the letters a bit higher & I did this for a specific reason... I'll be adding something to the bottom soon ;) !

I hope you guys liked this simple DIY! I've recently been loving the galvanized, whites & blacks mixed in with brown & greens. As you can see I've been muting the larger pieces in the dining room & really went out of my comfort zone with the "modern cottage" style rug -->NEW RUG INFO.  This sign was so easy, affordable & I think I'll love it for the upcoming seasons!

Wishing you all a happy & healthy Wednesday!
