{ Vintage Style Patriotic Kitchen Decor Inspiration }

Heyyyy lovely friends, I hope your week has been great! We've been getting slammed with super warm weather here in Michigan & of course I've been purging stuff, getting ready for summer & decorating hahah big surprise there! With everything we have going on with house {farm} hunting, work & everything in between I've felt like I needed some color & a fresh look in the dining room etc.. I mentioned in my last post that I haven't felt well lately { I'll share after my tests} & that's put a little damper on things! I hate being in limbo & honestly it gets me stressed & I feel worse..With that being said I thought styling a little area for 4th of July would perk me up! It's almost June so I'm not too worried about it being to early as Hobby Lobby has their Autumn decor out already hahahahah... The first thing I think about when the end of May hits is summer & 4th of July at our family cottage! I love anything vintage style for the holiday, but not so much the flashy plastic style goods ha. I actually got the inspiration for this post while I was out shopping at Target! I came home { house a mess } & just started grabbing things I had around..which is so not like me because for some reason I have a really hard time finding 4th decor I like..It's like it was meant to be haha. My sister was keeping the pups entertained in the living room while I through all this together ..at 10pm..with stuff from shopping everywhere..on a Wednesday night..TYPICAL ME ha! Anyways come read & gather some early 4th inspiration below!

When I think of 4th of July I think of good ole' country music playing, huge buckets of cherries & apples & lots of laughs! I love the color red to begin with, not usually for decor but I was excited to add these apples, some vintage rolling pins, & some other treasures!

This was the easiest centerpiece ever! I just used the cream chalkboard planter from Rae Dunn, some faux Ikea plants, vintage milk bottles & 2 cloth napkins I placed together that I got on sale for under $4!! The flags were $1 from Target dollar spot!

The vintage blue masons are pretty much my favorite! They give that festive super vintage charm & add that fun pop of whimsy color! I love how our pantry looks with these goods too.. You can see our DIY Vintage Pantry HERE if you would like to make one..

Pussy willow branches & white flowers are definitely another thing I picture when decorating for the 4th! These ones were on sale from Michaels a few years back! The vintage barrel, stool & ladder were all free finds!
 What do you guys think about this festive dining room? When do you start decorating for summer & the 4th?

See last year's 4th Posts:
Wishing you all a happy & healthy Friday & weekend!

{ New Cottage Style HomeGoods Living Room Shelf }

Happy fresh new week everyone! So a few days ago I blogged about some new changes in our upper living room - HERE - happening s l o w l y! I started this little "spruce" up a few weeks ago & have been picking up pieces here & there for something fresh & summery! I started with this piece - HERE - & have been adding to it since. This weekend my sister & I decided to get ready { rare for me haha } & go do a little shopping for vacation  { See My IG }  & of course there was a @Marshalls & @Homegoods right next door...You know what that means.. SHOPPING! We ended up have a great Saturday night just relaxing & enjoying an all around beautiful & calm night! Today I'm here to show you what I ended up picking up at HomeGoods for less than $30 & something we truly needed { Keep reading below }.

So you've probably guessed it by now, but Yes, I FINALLY found a new shelf for our upper living room area!! The plain white distressed one from forever ago finally gave out { thankfully while no one was sitting there } & I decided to retire it to a new location { See My IG }

*Slipcover is from Ikea!

If you've noticed I've been slowly removing anything black from this space as well & replacing with weathered grey/white washed accents for spring/ summer! The table to the right next to the sofa will be getting a makeover soon too!

I love that this mantel shelf has both the weathered grey wash look & the galvanized top part! It also adds to this space because of the bottom part that almost looks like a little fence..Meshes well with our summer floral pattern sofa cover for summer!

I think I mentioned this via a few posts back, but I did remove the black lantern chandelier that was in here for this older one we had in here before..Few changes coming to it as well, but for now I love the vintagey garden feel this space is slowly taking on!

 This new fresher & lighter looking space for our breezy summers ahead has me craving all our adventures we have planned already! What do you think about the new shelf?

{ Farmhouse Style Spring Window Decor, New Signs & Update.. }

Hi. Before I start this post I should warn you It's going to be long & very candid on what's been going on around here & why the blog has been slower than usual in terms of content etc.. So I've mentioned this before, but I have a bad back, have had kidney issues in the past & a few other issues going on..I've put off going to the dr. for many reasons one being that I have extreme " white coat " syndrome & literally go into a panic to where I can barley talk! I'm not sure why I have this seeing as I was exposed to many hospital visits for various reasons as a child & not just for me...actually typing that just gave me my answer. Anyways, lately my back has been so bad I can't even sit up in bed in the morning without my left side of my rib cage spasing uncontrollably for the first hour upon waking! I'm in constant pain but cover it up super well { my pain tolerance is crazy }. While all this has been going on I've also felt guilty even feeling a tad bit sad for myself etc..because let's face it there is so much worse going on in the world to animals & people daily. With that being said, that brings me to my next issue I've been having or actually feeling..This "blogland" world can be an awesome source of inspiration & encouragement & business all in one, but it does have a downside..and that is the need to be better & the best 24/7! I see it all the time on IG especially from those who buy followers, market to the extreme etc.. Now I'm not knocking that style, but it's left me feeling like what is the point of it all? For example I see my mom fighting for animals in shelters, protesting, volunteering her time after her professional work week { dental field } & to me that's so much more important than home decor! I love EVERYTHING home, but what purpose does it really serve? Yes, it's inspirational, makes you feel great to have a nicely styled house or be praised/ have awesome treasures etc.. but really its all blah blah blah compared to what really matters- at least for me! I love blogging & being able to share practical home stuff with you guys & for that I'm truly thankful for this homegrown organic business of mine.

Back to today's post..the cutest new signs from my mom as a little gift for our 10 year anniversary together! I had the perfect spot for them & then decided to spruce of our kitchen window with some spring decor!! It's super simple, cozy & thrifty per usual! Come take a peek & these cute little signs with the most authentic message ever from @biglots!

The rustic burlap curtain was a DIY almost 2 years ago HERE
I find it fun & inspirational to look back at past posts & see what has changed & how I've grown with this little business of mine!

How cute are those signs? I love the message, neutral/farmhouse look & bonus they were both under $5!

I find it so crazy when I share a picture of our kitchen window decorated it's one of my most liked pictures!! The most random spots I tell ya hahah! I do love this cozy kitchen of ours though!

I really hope you guys have a WONDERFUL weekend ahead & spend it doing something you love, enjoying family & just being well! Thanks again for the continued support &
P.S. sorry this post was a bit all over...Sometimes being honest is the best therapy!

Do you decorate your kitchen window area?

Happy Friday!

{ First Look: Cottage Style Floral Ikea Ektorp Slipcover Sofa! }

Hold on guys before you think I've lost my mind or you click out because of the word "floral" I promise it's cute cottagey floral, not green 1960's floral hahah! Let me back track a bit..So a few days ago while I was outside snapping some spring bloom pics HERE around our cottage I stopped to sit on our back patio & just take in the sun & beautiful day! It was then I realized I wanted to add some color to our homes interior simply..but how?! Yup, you guessed it..by switching out our dingy ripped white IKEA sofa cover for something new!! I still can't believe I pulled the trigger & got the brightest floral slipcover ever haha especially because color isn't always my friend in decor or any part of my life actually! Sunday Mark & I headed out to Ikea to enjoy some retail therapy & Chinese after since it was gloomy & rainy! Mark actually is the one who actually spotted this one & said go for it!! With him & my mum pushing, I DID IT!! We now have a bunch of beautiful spring color in our upper living room! I'm not going to lie at first I was really turned off by the contrast, but with a few decor changes it has grown on me in the last day already!! Come see some quick snaps below { sorry about the half done wall decor & phone pics }!

Do you guys see even in my clothing I'm neutral haha..I can't help it!

I kind of just shopped the house for some simple items to throw in with the new cover..these grey/blue pillows from forever ago being one of them! I love that it still looks cottagey just fresher & brighter! You guys know I hate going with the masses & that plain white Ektorp was getting way to popular/trendy for me..So I had to do something a bit different & honestly out of my comfort zone & LOVE IT!

Here is a quick snap from the store lighting for you guys.. Below is right when we brought it home! I wanted to show you how it looked in different lighting etc..Since today's pictures are a bit dark thanks to our Michigan weather!

Side Note: The cover was $200

Of course I started styling the room before the slipcover was even on hahaha TYPICAL Paige move right there! Hereeee I come with my shopping tote from our downstairs decor room...{ insert my husband cracking up }

It's so refreshing & uplifting!! I'm always honest with you guys & sometimes even though I LOVE cottage/ farmhouse style decor sometimes it can be taken too far & becomes BLAH & DEPRESSING! This adds the perfect cottagey bright charm for our upcoming breezy Michigan summer!

Still undecided on if this wall decor will stay or change..Blog post coming soon on the small change-ups! If you noticed I removed all the black almost & switched out for more white, cream & wood tones..including the black lantern chandy!

So far I'm in love & literally just hours before blogging this I was complaining to my mom how I didn't think it was going to work...ALWAYS have patients & let things soak in!!
I love that the green bench turned coffee table pops now too!! You can see that newer post HERE

  • What do you guys think about this new slipcover? Let me know below!!

Happy Tuesday!

{ Fresh Spring Blooms Around Our Suburban Cottage }

Ahhh what a refreshing spring day around our little suburban cottage today!! Perfect 70 degree weather, fresh blooms, soaking up the sun, weeding & country music blaring...my kind of day! I've been meaning to get out front & weed for a few days now & since today was such a low-key, calm & essentially super relaxing day I got outside & pulled those nasty & pesky weeds finally, got my first little sunburn &decided to snap some shots of our fresh blooms so far..I will say our flower boxes are faux greenery, but more on that later! Come take a peek around our yard at some fresh blooms etc..

These cute little flowers are thee cutest! I'm not going to lie, I have absolutely no idea what these are called or even how they got in our front garden areas...I'm thinking when we moved in 5 years ago we just threw a bunch of seeds & well these are popping up randomly now haha ..maybe?! I'd much rather have our bunches of hydrangeas pop up, but you guysss they NEVER grow on our property. It doesn't matter how much I water or don't water they parish!

This tree is actually technically on our neighbors property line, but it's my favorite & smells soooo fresh & fragrant!

All of our flower boxes are from @homedepot & they're all filled with faux greenery from @ikea due to the birds eating the real flowers when in our boxes!

This little pine tree has special meaning to me!! My mom brought it from up north at our family cottage when we first moved to this house & it was no larger than my hand!! It's now  about 3ft tall..& just recently outgrew its pot! I'll be blogging something fun for this soon & showing it after it's re-potted! I'm pine tree obsessed,so this little guy will definitely be moving with us!

Top knot & sunning that porcelain skin of mine hehe. I think I may need a tan before my vacay haha!

This chippy bench was a gift from my dad that he brought all the way home from up north picking somewhere! I love it & I'm thinking it needs some chippy white chalk paint soon..:)

I hope you guys liked this little random spur of the moment post! It wasn't planned, it's plain, but I LOVE IT! Sometimes the simplest post are the best right?! Let me know in the comments below if you know the names of these flowers/ trees!

Happy Thursday!
