{ DIY Christmas Photos in 6 Simple Steps.. }

Welcome back everyone!!! I hope your Thanksgiving was a blast & you enjoyed your family etc.. Today I'm sharing something that is near & dear to my heart for more than one reason to be honest. Sooo I mention this 10 million times every Christmas & I'm sure you guys can tell, but I'm Christmas crazy & that means having our pictures taken around this time for our annual Christmas card that goes out soon. So, we used to use my professional camera, we've had them taken & we've done them ourselves & to be honest it's sooo much more fun being able to do your own for so many reasons & it doesn't have to be difficult!! Before I get a flood of e-mails saying things like " Well you're a blogger of course it's easy" or " You use Photoshop " or " You use an expensive camera" etc.. I will share a little secret with you guys..I use NONE OF THOSE for our photos!! I've become so simple these days & the more rustic & authentic the better, because who wants to look so staged it's creepy..Ya, not us either! Today I'm sharing some simple ways to take photos for this upcoming season!!!

1. PICK YOUR LOCATION

This is the biggest part of how you want your photos/card to look like are dependent on your location! I always go with a neutral, but festive background like a tree farm lot, park or just any solid background for an even easier pick. Crop out any not so "pretty" things that may end up on the sides..This can be done right on your phone..which leads me to my next tip below!!

2. USE YOUR PHONE /SELFIE STICK

Okay before you laugh at the selfie stick thing which is kind of funny, but seriously you guys it works wonders, they're super cheap & if you're alone or can't get someone to snap a few or you don't have a camera timer/ tripod use this tip!! It may not be the best, but it's practical & helpful. You can always use the above what I mentioned as well too which are obviously better!

Side Note: After you take a few photos you like you can edit them right on your phone with tons of free apps before transferring your photos to a @vistaprint card!

3. PICK YOUR THEME/ OUTFITS

This is another one of those things that can make a non-professional photoshoot more professional looking by simply coordinating your outfits per the occasion. I would stick to sold colors & just add accents etc..The bolder the better!!

4. BRING A PROP

This isn't a MUST ,but bringing a small prop to add something to the photos is always fun!! You could do a wreath, festive blanket, scarf, mistletoe etc..

5. EDIT

After you take your photos & pick which ones you want, then go on on your phone/ free app & crop, darken the contrast, add warmth etc..Most phones even do face brightening, retouching, blurred background effects etc..Super easy & they make the photos more eye appealing & crisp!

6. ORDER THEM

This is my most favorite step!!! We've been using Vistaprint for almost 6 years now & they NEVER disappoint!! They're super fun, affordable & FAST!! They also have awesome customer service & plenty of holiday options for all your Christmas card needs! I think last time I looked they had over 150 to choose from & they're always offering discount codes!!

VISTAPRINT

I hope you guys like these kind of posts!! Not everyone has the time or funds to hire a photographer, so hopefully these can help you in some way this holiday season. I'll be back shortly to my regular decor posts..& I'm super excited about showing you guys our little suburban cottage decked out for Christmas!!

Happy Tuesday!!

As always THANK YOU for stopping in on my little growing blog. I know everyone says it, but I honestly appreciate each of you for sharing my posts, commenting etc....I'm not the biggest or most popular blogger, but I am humble, real & practical and  hopefully helpful or inspiring in someway :).

{ Favorite Festive ANTHROPOLOGIE Christmas Goods }

It's almost Wednesday so I thought I would pop on here before the festivities start & the long weekend is here..I'm super excited for some good food, drinks & of course family time. I can sometimes be very antisocial, but with my dad being sick & all it's going to be nice to enjoy just our close little 5-6 people gathering & some quality time...Ugh here come the tears. You guys I've been a mess lately, but taking our little vacation to one of our favorite places { New York City } helped a bit..While we were there our last night we had just chowed down a bunch of Chick-Fil -A since we had never had it before haha & then decided to hit the town that night & just as we were getting ready to cross the street Mark spotted the NYC Anthropologie store EEEEK!! I just so happen to not be paying attention { shocker } & he goes "Ohhh honey LOOK " hahah..I literally sprinted across the street in my fringe boots & almost got taken out by 3 taxi's haha..Come take a peek at some of these unique items I found there while browsing!!

So as soo as I stepped in I ran to these!! I loved the way they were rustically styled, & how unique they were!!! I regret not picking some up for our tree upstairs...UGH! I may have to go back to the one in Michigan & see if they have them as well!!

 These were my second favorites!! I love the light teal glass bulbs with the blueberry vine like berry twine!! It's so my style &I may have added some of this in our dining room..I'll be blogging each Christmas space before the full Christmas Home Tour per usual, so stay tuned!!

I love the tin houses because to me they gave off that cozy cottage feel,but with that little bit of industrial/eclectic feel! These have been super popular this year...I spotted them at Pottery Barn too & a couple chains..I love them, the glass metallic tree trend ehh not so much haha!

What do you think about these fun & unique finds from the Anthro store? I always like to stick to what I love/my style,but every once in again something strikes my eye & these items for sure did, not to mention in the most magical city! Hope you enjoyed this inspiration!!

Happy THANKSGIVING EVE!

{ Our Farmhouse & Cottage Christmas Inspiration this Year.. }

Happy Fridayyyyyy!! I'm not going to lie to you guys, my leg is killing me { not sure why }, but today has been a fabulous day & for no particular reason other than getting my list accomplished, washing my hair LOL & having a hot home-cooked meal on the stove plus a bit of free time to play around with our Christmas decor. I swear every time around this year I get sooo jolly as Mark would say "My face lights up" hahaha & I don't doubt it..what can I say other than I'm  CHRISTMAS CRAZY pants haha! I look forward to this time of the year & everything it entails ALL year & today I thought would do something a bit different this year on the blog..Instead of getting every room "photo" ready /perfect I thought I would share some inspiration from each room with how it is now aka NOT finished , just to give some inspiration & show my process etc..& how much things change with decor while prepping spaces..Come take a peek at some of these spaces getting decked out for the holidays..

I posted about getting this pillow in NYC on our little vacay a few days ago HERE . I love the green & blue plaid, but I have to be honest this space already changed a bit...I'll of course be doing a full Christmas Home Tour soon too! You can see last year's HERE

I wanted to go SUPER simple this year & I think it's a good thing I did, because you guyssss I am striking out this year with decor...It seems like the stores are lacking..I need to go junkin right?!

What did you guys think  about these quick sneak peeks of our upper level?? I have SO much planned for this weekend including a makeover, DIY , Christmas photos & getting a real tree eeek, and next week I'll be sharing sneak peeks of our lower level which is splashed with COLOR!!  I hope you all have an awesome Friday!!
**P.S. I'm curious, what's your favorite part about the holidays??

Happy weekend!!

{ Highlights & Favorites from our New York City Excursion }

I'm sooo excited to share this today with you guys!! As you probably know by now we decided to take a little trip to NYC about a week ago..We have been several times before,honeymooned there for a week & went back for our 1 year anniversary as well as both going as children!! We love the city & we had so much fun road tripping in the Jeep through the Pennsylvania & the other states & of course stopping at little places along the way & me taking a million pictures hahah..I know it's not decor related, but I thought I would show a few pictures I quickly shot from this little 4 day adventure!! Come take a peek below & P.S. if you've never been to the big apple...GO!! It's nothing like people perceive I promise really..

Pod39 Hotel

We stayed at Pod39 & it didn't disappoint! It's always a gamble booking a hotel in the city & I'm not going to lie I was quite nervous to stay here as we never have before & the rooms are pod size..Oh my goshhh you guys the room was soo cute, fresh, clean & fun!! The hotel is located in midtown & is close to just about everything PLUS they offer this amazing rooftop terrace area that looks directly at the empire state building!!!!

La Mela Restaurant

Another place we have been going to since 2009 is La Mela in Little Italy...It's old authentic Italian food with the funnest atmosphere & staff..It's informal & the portions are sooo big!

Grand Central Station

So this is one of those areas that we hadn't been to before & I'm SO glad we went this time!! It's something out of a storybook with it's sparkling blue ceiling, marble galore & the hustle & bustle is the best!!

Central Park/ Plaza Hotel

We've been many times before, but this time we walked quite a bit & I'm so glad we did! We got to see some landmarks that were in Home Alone, take in the wildlife & view the amazing Plaza hotel.

Cafe' Roma

It's one of those places that isn't anything super special other than we've been going since 2009 & it;s sooo historical. It dates back in the family from 1891 & the cannolis are sooo yummy! The old-time architecture is everything, a definite stop!

How awesome is this view from our hotel at night? It's literally breathtaking & I felt soo much  while standing up here & taking in everything. It seems weird for someone who has a fear of heights { me } , but it's almost like a stresss reducer & freeing feeling all in one!

Our hotel was so historical & charming..Direct Link: HERE

Rockefeller Center

It's one of those areas that is a must see especially around the holidays! The lights, calming feeling & just all around fun feeling plus the ice rink & tree..It may be my favorite spot!

I hope you guys liked this little tour along with me on our vacation.. I wanted to post more photos, but some didn't go well with my branding hahaha..I'm soo ocd with what a post looks like! Anyways thanks soo much for stopping by & I hope you visit the city if you ever get the chance!!!

Happy Tuesday!

{ Pottery Barn NYC, My Experience...}

Hey everyone & welcome back..boy it seems like it has been forever!! If you have been following via my InstagramHERE you would know we recently took a trip back to NYC to celebrate our 8 years of marriage! We honeymooned there in 2009 , revisited in 2010 & wanted to go back to recapture some memories & we all around just needed a vacation!!! We decided to drive because we wanted to cozy in the Jeep & enjoy the scenery & each others' time & I despise flying haha! We arrived a few hours early before we could  check -in to our hotel  which was amazing { post coming soon }. One of the things on my itinerary list was to visit the New York Pottery Barn because well it's the NYC Pottery Barn ahaha! We pulled up & I instantly like melted..into a whimsical dreamy & magical land ha! It's 2 stories of everything rustic, cottage, farmhouse, & industrial you could imagine. Keep reading below for my personal experience..

If you've never been to the city, it's a definite must !! The buildings, streets, hustle & bustle..everything you see in the movies is true of NYC! It's grand, fun & whimsical all in one!!

Story time
Okay, so as I stated above we arrived in the city early & decided to do a little shopping..While Mark was in the bathroom I started talking to the employees etc.. & after I said we had just driven 11 hrs to come here & I was a Michigan based Home Blogger they were shocked!! I kept shopping around & about 5 minutes later a few people surrounded me & one of the nice ladies asked if I would come meet the GM OF THEIR STORE?! I seriously turned sooo red, I looked disheveled from the car ride, was in layers of sweats, but literally couldn't believe what was happening.. A few moments later the awesome GM, Clinton came over & introduced himself & we chatted for a minute before he asked if we could take a picture together before we left & he'd post it on the Pottery Barn NYC IG....Umm by this time I was freaking out & excited all in one..It was like a fan-girl moment for my little blogging heart! The whole shopping experience after that was insane with people asking us at every point in the massive establishment if we needed anything & so on.. I can't THANK the staff & GM for reaching out to me like that & attending to our shopping experience like they did.

See the bag I'm holding in a few pictures up?! I bought the cutest green & blue plaid pillow & styled this area a few hours after arriving home haha!

What an awesome experience right? I hope you guys liked this little real moment with me & you got to see bits of our trip & of course the awesome @potterybarn store!!
