{ Simple Tips to Revive Dying House Plants }

Soooo happy Tuesday!! It's bright & sunny here in Michigan, and spring is definitely trying to peep through this long winter of ours! What's not bright are my house plants...The time has finally come where they're looking a little sad, a little dead & a little "off" ha. Right now I have 2 Lemon Button Ferns, 1 Lily & 1 Ivy.. I did a bit of research today to try & save my four babies hahaha..Surprisingly they're super simple tips also some reasons why your beloved house plant may be dying....I mean I'm in NO WAY a plant lady or gardener AT ALL, but I have come to love these four plants & two of which are a year old!!!! Can you believe that?!?

 Top reasons your plants are dying...

• Overwatering

▪ Too much sunlight

• Underwatering

▪ Too little Sunlight

• Root rot

 

Root Root / Overwatering:

1. If your plants have root rot the key is to replant! The roots will look yellow or fungus ridden if so.  Let the plant dry out a bit then replant in new soil with insecticide. Be sure you're letting the plants drain properly & you're letting them dry a bit before each new watering. 

Too Much Sun / Underwatering:

2. Give the plant a nice soak. The leaves will look crispy & droopy. If the plant is severely dehydrated you can soak the plant in the sink. Let cool/warm water saturate it then place back in pot with a drainage pan.  

 Too Little Sun: 

3. Most indoor plants are fine with minimal sun & simple watering.  If they're not getting enough sun they will stretch & drop leaves or reach outward/ thin out.

Ohh I really hope this tiny & simple article gives your plants a little love & hope if they're struggling. I never thought I'd be soo into keeping plants alive, but here we are ha. { Comfy Early Spring Home Decor Touches }

Hey pals!! What a fastttt, oh so fast weekend. I didn't get as much done as I wanted because, well I've been having a flare up from my autoimmune issues. My knees are on fire, sore etc.. I pushed myself on Friday to get the living room refreshed with a clean slipcover & washed throws. I decorated a bit & well that was mostly it. It's super hard for me to not be doing something I love so much & even worse thinking about it mentally. Thankfully Mark grocery shopped Sunday & I stayed home with the pups...I wanted to share quickly some small spring touches in the living room I changed after giving it a good wash & refresh... 

I forgot to mention above, but I picked up a new cream rug too. We go through rugs around here like crazy with the animals & with me being a clean freak ha. Simple, comfy, bright & bold. I also wanted to share a "before" the fresh white slipcover was put on..few of the pillows are new & some simple cottage table decor.

 

I spruced up the cabinet & wall decor! I'll be blogging that soon, but I also decluttered these chairs & added a few spring items to the chippy white table!

Few simple dining room spring touches, decluttering & sunning my plants!! This table I love but hate the extender lines..We're in the works for a new one but for not this one with the new chairs & cute cozy seat cushions will do. I decided to not use a tablecloth or placemats for a more simple fresh feel. 

 

My go to accent this spring is rustic galvanized garden goods.. I threw a few faux plants on this galvanized 2 tier stand & lamp & it instantly cozied the space. 

 

This fireplace mantel is constantly getting new looks but this will stay for a bit. I love the quaint super cottagey spring look. The birdhouse I picked up for $10 & I love the vintage appeal...

I hope you love guys love this bright & fresh space!! These two obviously couldn't wait to get in here & cozy up!! ▪ Whats your favorite cozy spot?

{ Simple Cozy Basement Tips }

Thursday already? Can't say I'm not happy about that because I'm ready for spring antique markets ha!! It is the first day of spring & in true Michigan fashion it's cold & rainy...oh & muddy...so soooo m u d d y!  Although I don't care for the beginning of spring because of the mess, it is refreshing to unveil fresh earth, inhale the crisp breeze & enjoy the anticipation of summer. Speaking of summer, I like to spruce up the basement every early spring in preparation for summer. There's nothing cozier than coming in after a night on the patio to the cool basement to an ice cold glass of ice tea & a movie with the windows open!! It's cool relaxing & perfect for summer. 

I've never been a basement person but  ours is pretty nice & I've grown to love it. With that being said, it needs paint, new flooring & a few other touches, so definitely not perfect. Today I'm sharing some SIMPLE TIPS to cozy your lower level basement up!!  

1. Add Greenery!

Adding greenery to any space brightens it up, but especially basements because they tend to be darker. I love adding white blooms & lots of simple neutral flowers!

2.  Lots of Throws & Pillows!

Again, this can make any space cozy or inviting but more so in an area that tends to be cooler. We have tons of clean throws on an old wood ladder & pillows.

 

3. Candles!

I love when the candles of different seasons are going, great throws  & fresh plants!! I change the scents out periodically but usually stick to vanilla & traditional scents!

4. Fireplace!

This is more of a harder thing to implement, because lets be honest they can be  super expensive. We shopped around year's ago & grabbed this authentic cherry wood one for $250. They add ambiance & of course warmth if needed!!

5. Lighting!

This is something I can't stress enough..bright white lightning!!! It will make such a difference in a lower level feel. We have recessed, but lamps & crisp white ceilings also can help. I love using 100 watts { use at own discretion according to your home safety }. 

6. Rugs!

Rugs add that cozy feel again BUT also that main living look. I use neutral jute or sisal rugs but colorful, textured, thick ones help comfy it up.

7. Decor & Style!

This is my last tip, but probably most important other than the lighting...Decorate like you would you main level living or family room. Pick a style you love & implement it in your basement, so it feels just like any other cozy upper level. Don't treat it as a second class citizen hehe..

{ Spring Galvanized Cottage Living Room Decor }

Heyyyy pals! Hope your week is going amazingly! I'm down with a head cold & tonsillitis but thankfully my doctor called in some meds over the phone. I'm grateful for that because it was a rough night with both Mark & I up sick... I mentioned a few days ago  I've been really feeling the garden galvanized look & have been slowly adding vintage & new galvanized metal items & pops of cottage blues and darker wood tones in the living room... Come take a peek at this fresh spring living room 

 

I've always had a thing for ducks, so when I spotted these vintage wood ones with chippy blue, I knew I needed them. They give that northern Michigan cottage feel without being lake or coastal.

While adding little splashes of chippy cottage blues, the galvanized decor also took effect in here. The chippy " Less House More Home" sign is from HomeGoods. The other items are either collected vintage or from various home decor stores.

I'm still looking for new pillows for this space, & I'll be switching slipcovers until tthe sofa arrives! These herb flower pillows from last year will do fine for now!! 

 

This clock finished this space off with all the galvanized goods..It looks so much smaller in this photo, but it's actually pretty large. I'll be adding something to finish this wall soon..

{ Fresh Farmhouse Style Spring Kitchen }

This week is flying you guys...Wednesday already?! I need it to go quickly though because I'm tired & craving the weekend with some antiquing, downtime & hopefully pretty spring weather. My nerves have been pretty bad lately anticipating my upcoming appointments. I hate not having control over my own body at times & not having immediate answers/ solutions. So, again I decided I needed some downtime last weekend & by downtime I mean hauling chairs up & downstairs, switching decor &  adding new pieces. See my last post HERE for a quick recap on this space... Today I'm sharing the whole freshened up space below!!

 

I wanted something simple for the table...So the simplest cleanest, but coziest item was this cream & wood wired 3 tiered stand!! I filled it with navy vintage diner mugs, greenery, amber milk bottles & ruffled white linen napkins!

 

 

I forgot to mentioned above, but this stand has two other matching baskets I added to the bakery shelf that helps keep the space cohesive.

This mahogany chippy wood shelf, gold rimmed plates & faux pastries bring this space together.  

Like many of my items this vintage milk bottle has sentimental meaning to me...My momma knows I love old milk glass bottles & picked this up for my  collection while on vacation in Sarasota.

 

Following the "vintage spring bakery" theme I added more of my milk glass jugs to the corner cabinet & this bakery sign that match the Market sign above the table. The black stem glasses & Iron cow finish this simple cleaned out spring cabinet!

 

I had three main colors in mind for this space..Greenery galore, ticking stripe blues & lots of amber/ mahogany accents!!!

 

I paired this basket with the baskets in the cabinet, added some grey/blue will branches, rolling pins & more linens.

No bakery is complete without a measuring menu...I love this old rusty one.
