Heyyy guys! What a gorgeous weekend for SO MANY REASONS! I'm sitting here with my almond vanilla candle going, some Lana Del Rey playing in the background while my office mascot Mr. Wibbles { bunny } jumps around haha. I mean a great weekend with a great close! I got to spend some quality time in Ann Arbor with a friend & my sister { which is always a riot in itself }, enjoyed sometime on the water walking & got 2 more projects done, and managed to snuggle with the pups/ hubby! Sometimes some great outdoor time is the perfect therapy & cure for anything. Perfect 65 degree weather & while at the park my sister snapped some MUCH needed new head shots for the blog!
So I mentioned via my social media outlets a few day's ago that I
found an old bookshelf while in the city { Detroit } working with my
husband for the day. We were leaving the last job site & I spotted
it in a pile of trash in the street..I yelled " ohhh" & Mark kept
driving then stops & goes " You want that , right?!" Back we went
after our U- turn haha. I jumped out & before my husband could snap
down the seat, I muscled it in the jeep. It's solid wood & even had
some great chippy paint already on it. I got it home & knew exactly
what I wanted it for.. I wanted it for the corner in our upper living
room. I moved the antique piece that was there & replaced the coffee
table that just wasn't working for that space anymore { Post on that
soon }. I love the way the space turned out & it feels so much more
roomier with the smaller coffee table & little bookshelf.
The piece was already a light chippy shop green color, which I kinda loved. I hit it with some white paint & sanded it a bit then finished it off with some dark wax all over paying special attention to the edges for that distressed cottage look. Super simple & fun!
P.S. those magazines are bugging me haha..#ocd
This little corner had been difficult to get right, because the wall is kind of awkward but after finding this little bookshelf for free I decided I needed a cute magazine rack for cheap so of course I went to the shop & grabbed that metal one for $15 & sprayed it white!! I wanted the space to be cozy cottagey with a purpose. I mean, I love sitting in that chair browsing my catalogs or reading my vintage books.. The pillow is from +HomeGoods & the green throw is from +IKEA USA .

The lamp is from +HomeGoods & the mirror from +Michaels Stores . The tulips are from +Hobby Lobby . The stool is vintage & was my late papa's & the water can / buckets were all free find. I had these legs from a vintage table we had in the dining room { Update Coming Soon } & I loved the carved detail, so I kept them & used them to style this simple bookshelf.
This is my new favorite space in our upper level living room. It's bright, soothing & soo much more functional! I sincerely hope you all have a sunny & successful week ahead.
