Happy Wednesday you guys!! As I was writing yesterday's post, something hit me...I've never explained how I "shop our home" a lot of the times while photographing a space or changing things up without spending a ton. Yes, the occasional haul for a few new items are needed but for the most part I'm am not like other bloggers who constantly are switching expensive furniture pieces out, adding huge design elements or renovations. We are still looking for our forever home{ even though we love this one} with more land, so projects have been kind of put on hold. It's killing me, but I wouldn't want to invest a bunch into this home if we still want to move...Yes little upgrades etc..Anyways today I want to share how I shop our home & create fresh new spaces for close to nothing!!!
This rustic spring cabinet is one of those areas that I on a whim spruced up without spending a dime!I used things I had laying around like the black & copper metal containers, white long stem hydrangeas, & antique table legs!
How To:
- Makeover pieces not being used for a fresh look.
- Move things around for a new appearance.
- Add decor items to existing furniture pieces for a spruce up.
- Use things in different or unusual ways.
- Take inventory of what you have.
- Snap a few photos so you can see what/how you want to change decor in a space.
- Pick staple pieces that can be used in different areas/ styles of your home/space.
These battery operated string lights have moved about 3 times since Christmas & continue to be used in unusual/different areas! The black buckets I've had for quite sometimes & have been inside & out. They're one of the staple pieces that work in just about any area & keep their look.
I've used these mason jars in just about everyplace in our home. They're fun neutral, vintage pieces that can be moved around with ease. I try & pick items when I'm shopping that I not only love, but that can be used in multiple areas, stay nice when used a lot & look good with different decor etc..I guess these are some of my staple items. My style is cottage/farmhouse with a touch of rustic/whimsy...These are just my "type" of staple items. Even if your style is modern you can find modern "staple" items to always keep on hand.
I hope you guys gathered some information & inspiration from this post! I love sharing what I've learned over the years, or what has worked for me..Do you have any items you use over & over or any ways you shop your home to recreate looks/ spruce areas up?
Happy Wednesday!
