{ Spring Interior/Exterior UPDATES: The Plans pt.1 }

Hey everyone & happy glorious Saturday!! I'm blogging on Saturday..who am I? Hahaha..weird I know right?..I figured since Mark was working today as well that I would take some time in the office to get some work done & I'm so happy I did! So this isn't going to be a pretty post but it's going to be sort of long & explain what has been going on with us in terms of moving, current home etc.. As you guys know we have been on the hunt for a small farmhouse/home with a bit of land etc.. for about 3 years now..YES, 3 Y e a r s! I know that sounds crazy but the areas we are looking in are either not populated with homes for sale or 600k +.  We have these areas picked out because they're great for commute & other amenities. We also aren't in a super rush to move, but the last year we have been pushed more with my husband's business growing & our land needing to be larger. I've said this before but we love our current home unfortunately the land just isn't ideal. It's big for the area,but not for us. With all that being said since we haven't found the one yet I have been super antsy lately & really bored with this house but  confused too. Confused as to keep doing projects & putting bits of money into it or jumping on another home. I DESPISE being in limbo & that's where we're at right now..IN LIMBO! Although we both crave another project aka new { old } home we decided that since nothing on the market right now is working jumping for that we would just spruce of the current house with a few simple & affordable projects for a fresh start this spring. Down below I'm cluing you guys in on what is going to take place in the next few months etc..Now, just like with any projects, things can change, so don't hold us to these plans exactly but for the most part that's what we're planning.
For the kitchen we plan on just painting it a nice white. The cabinets & appliances are fairly new & will be staying. We will be adding a backsplash either shiplap or beadboard for that cottage charm & bonus it's super affordable & easy to work with.
The dining area will be receiving a fresh coat of paint along with some beadboard as well. I think it will add to this space even though it does quite  a bit of charm with the pantry, barn door, chalkboard etc.. You guys know I love doing little projects & I get bored quick, so this little spruce up will be fun!

The upper living room will also be getting paint & we're thinking some type of wall treatment for this little corner the couch is in. I have big ideas & will share when we decide!!

The garage will be getting some paint, nothing dramatic just a fresh white coat on the wood & the porch floor will be getting a coat of white washing possibly too.

My bathroom on the main level will be getting fresh new paint!! I want to go super bright in this space since it's small. The faucet started leaking a few months ago & we decided to just get a whole new vanity. I'm excited to play around in this space.Thinking a light granite & cottage vanity + adding some more antiques! The tub, tile & travertine are newer so they'll be staying.

I took to Facebook & Instagram the other day & most of you said paint this space, so paint it is! think bright crisp white,new bedding & new vintage chandelier!!!

So what do you guys think about these little custom updates while we're in the process of searching for our next home? It's always nice to have a freshened up home for spring right? Nothing to major but it will hopefully keep my antsy DIY obsessed self happy for a minute.

Happy weekend!!!

{ How to: Shop Your Home Easily for a Fresh New Look! }

Happy Wednesday you guys!! As I was writing yesterday's post, something hit me...I've never explained how I "shop our home" a lot of the times while photographing a space or changing things up without spending a ton. Yes, the occasional haul for a few new items are needed but for the most part I'm am not like other bloggers who constantly are switching expensive furniture pieces out, adding huge design elements or renovations. We are still looking for our forever home{ even though we love this one} with more land, so projects have been kind of put on hold. It's killing me, but I wouldn't want to invest a bunch into this home if we still want to move...Yes little upgrades etc..Anyways today I want to share how I shop our home & create fresh new spaces for close to nothing!!!

This rustic spring cabinet is one of those areas that I on a whim spruced up without spending a dime!I used things I had laying around like the black & copper metal containers, white long stem hydrangeas, & antique table legs!

How To:

  • Makeover pieces not being used for a fresh look.
  • Move things around for a new appearance.
  • Add decor items to existing furniture pieces for a spruce up.
  • Use things in different or unusual ways.
  • Take inventory of what you have.
  • Snap a few photos so you can see what/how you want to change decor in a space.
  • Pick staple pieces that can be used in different areas/ styles of your home/space.

These battery operated string lights have moved about 3 times since Christmas & continue to be used in unusual/different areas! The black buckets I've had for quite sometimes & have been inside & out. They're one of the staple pieces that work in just about any area & keep their look.

I've used these mason jars in just about everyplace in our home. They're fun neutral, vintage pieces that can be  moved around with ease.  I try & pick items when I'm shopping that I not only love, but that can be used in multiple areas, stay nice when used a lot & look good with different decor etc..I guess these are some of my staple items. My style is cottage/farmhouse with a touch of rustic/whimsy...These are just my "type" of staple items. Even if your style is modern you can find modern "staple" items to always keep on hand.

I hope you guys gathered some information & inspiration from this post! I love sharing what I've learned over the years, or what has worked for me..Do you have any items you use over & over or any ways you shop your home to recreate looks/ spruce areas up?

Happy Wednesday!

{ Cozy Cottage Style Spring Living Room Decor Haul }

Happy Tuesday! You guys I'm not going to sugarcoat anything..this has been a weeeek already & it's only Tuesday! I've said it before I can deal with the cold + snow etc..but NOT the messy rainy gloomy days. I feel a lot of it comes from my OCD & how messy it is, but also because it's just gross & not pretty! Day #3 here in Michigan with that type of weather...So decided to jump out of that mind set & spread spring among our upper level living room. I already started in the dining room HERE & thought it was much needed to raise my mood..I went super simple with more ticking stripe, white /cream flowers & lots of tan neutral textures. I wanted a countryside cottage look & I'm so pleased with what I have going on in this space so far. I also thought it was time to share this space because I went on a little haul with a friend a few days ago & picked up some new pillows etc..Come take a peek below!!

I have been scheming up what I wanted this space to look like since after Christmas and I'm happy to report that it's finally coming to life. It's the perfect cozy neutral countryside cottage with new & old mixed in treasures. Our living room isn't perfect, but perfectly cozy & lived in.

My friend Ami & I took some "us" time the other morning & went a little crazy shopping, eating chocolate & just being our crazy selves. It was much needed & that wreath above mightttt have jumped in my cart! It's from @homegoods & was under $30!

These farmhouse striped pillows also begged to come home with me ha. I spotted them a few weeks ago & knew they would be perfect with my new ticking stripe inspired throw from @ikea..I passed the first time but snatched them up the other day, and I'm so G L A D I  did.

Simple creamy white flowers stuffed in a textured basket with dusty greenery...all the heart eyes!!

What do you guys think about my little spring haul? I have 1 big thing I didn't show yet for our bedroom that I will be sharing soon...I hope you're having a lovely week!!

Happy Tuesday!

{ Cottage Style Spring Antique Crock Centerpiece Tutorial! }

Hello Friday & friends!! Since I'm on the spring fever kick I decided to style the dining room table for spring as well. Since I'm also ticking striped crazed lately I wanted something super simple fresh & of course vintage/antique. I may have already blogged something like this in the past, but at this point in blogging all the posts are running together haha. I don't know why I've been craving the vintage blue & whites in the dining with pretty flowers & chippy-ness..WAIT, yes I do..because I'm cottage style obsessed!! I really hope today's post brightens your day & gives you some inspiration! I didn't spend anything to create this space & those are the spaces that I like the most because they're practical and they're my brand. Okay enough of me rambling & keeping you on suspense..Come take a peek below!!

I have about 13 of these crocks in different colors, ages etc.. I have about 5 with the blue stamps & crowns on them. Of course I had to use one on the table & boy this one was heavy!!! Speaking of table I'm in the works for a new one SOON!

I don't think a table centerpiece could be any more simple.

How To:

  • Wipe table down
  •  Add long runner, then second shorter runner { I used two for layering }
  • Add crocks & fill large crock with burlap + flowers or any greenery you would like.
  • Add placemats, bottles & tea towels

This corner was a little dark, so I added a basket to the large tree for some spring warmth.

This space is looking pretty fresh for spring. I think with a few more changes like the table & chairs it will be set for spring/summer! What kind of chairs should I add to this space...I'm stumped. Let be know down below!!

Happy Friday!

{ Cottage Style Spring Fireplace Update }

Hey friends!!! Thanks for popping back on here with me for a little update etc.. So it's been super gross here in Michigan with slush, fog & mud galore...eek! You guys know your girl can handle the cold + snow with ease but not this gloomy stuff. Yesterday I started to feel a funk coming on, so I grabbed some paint, cleaning products & decluttered the house- AHHH it feels so wonderful!! So back to the painting part..I've been wanting to paint our new fireplace grate since after Christmas, but with the winter decor up & it still matched I thought I would wait. After decluttering & bringing spring into the upper level I decided it was timeee! I used the same paint as our doggy room which is called " Vanilla" by Valspar!  Anyways come take a peek below!!!!
Side Note: Sorry the pictures are a bit dark, but you get why.

Okay so I have to be a bit honest with you guys..This wood grate from HomeGoods has been painted 3 times in the last 24 hrs haha. It started out distressed grey from the store then warm cream, then distressed warm cream & now just white/cream. Sometimes when I'm painting/ doing a project I  go through trial/errors before the post is fully published. In all honesty this project each time it was painted only took about 15 minutes. I used a brush for the first coat then a sponge. I also should mention I left the other side grey & I'll explain later..

Spring is blooming in our living room & I couldn't be happier.

The mini greenhouse is from Ikea as well as the plants!

Some other changes will be happening in here too, but for now the bright airy spring decor is giving me a breath of fresh air. What do you guys think about this space? Have you decorated for spring at all?? Let me know down below!

Happy Thursday!

I mean, it could go totally the other way, & be the coziest weekend ever too..With us it's always a toss up haha we like to keep y'all on your toes! Anyways today I'm sharing something I've been sharing via my IG { HERE } for the past week, but just realized I never really blogged it! I hope you guys love this cozy little area & our new VLOG..it's super funny & typical us! Enjoy!!
