Welcome back into our little suburban cottage today! I've been mentioning I've been a busy little bee lately, & I have been!!! I always get this urge to freshen things up right before the holidays & that's exactly what I did these past few days...So our little white cottage fireplace got a simple & super fresh look! I ended up painting it with some Waverly brand chalk paint from good ole +Walmart ! I used the regular white & it was the most bright /crisp white I think I've ever used!! I love the Waverly brand of chalk paint & it's under $10 { see post on favorite chalk paints -->5 Best Chalk Paints!} ..Anyways I also gave our coffee table a nice fresh white refresh too { post soon }. Today I'm sharing our fireplace though & with it fully neutrally decorated for fall!! You can see our "Early Fall Mantel" & the before makeover here-->Early Fall Vintage Mantel Enough rambling come see the fresh look & our neutral farmhouse fall mantel!
This little fireplace of ours needed a fresh coat of paint so bad!! I had quickly spray painted it after my grandma so kindly thrifted it to us when we moved in this house at the end of 2012. I knew my style was changing & I wanted some"cottage" goods & a fireplace so this was perfect. I wasn't heavily into working with chalk paint yet, so I used some gross white spray paint..eeek! This time I used a fresh pure white to freshen up the cubbies/ base, and I love the now "matte" chalk look too. You can see the fireplace box before it got some white here-->Thrifty Fireplace Mantel Box
I love the way this little makeover tuned out! I loved the mantel box before, but for the upcoming holidays I wanted something fresh & neutral! I just painted it with the same paint as the fireplace & then took some dark wax & hit the natural spots that were already distressed!
I wanted to keep the decor simple & super fresh like the new paint job. I used some white pumpkins from +Michaels Stores & +Target . I then picked out two colors of books & used them to stack the cream pumpkins! I added some simple greenery that reminded me of pumpkin patches & done. The wheat colored dried arrangement in the back was thrifted from my gram. I loved the dried, earthy fall look & it worked as a great backdrop.

Mark found this out for trash a few years ago! I knew as soon as he brought it home I wanted it to add that thrifted cottage charm to our little fireplace mantel. All these years & I kept it the original distressed forest green...you guys know that's a longggg time for me haha!
The simplicity of creamy neutral pumpkins in the fall have me loving this season even more!! The vintage bulb garland is from +Marshalls for under $10. I love how vintage & cozy it looks at night with the little fireplace going.
What do you guys think of our little fireplace makeover? Do you decorate more with color of neutrals for fall? Leave me comments below & catch up with me via my social media links { Below }.
Wishing you all a happy Thursday!
