{ Our 10th Year of Marriage }

Happy Thursday, pals!! Wow 10 y e a r s! I'm sitting here in the Jeep cozied in watching the fall colors on the trees while Mark's driving & reflecting on the past 12 years together & 10 married. It's been a wild time with so many ups & downs as well. We've been through so much from dealing loss of a parent/ family members, new family, adoptions, surgeries & just life .But together we're still here & much in love.
I can remember this day 10 years ago & almost every detail down to putting on my dress & seeing Mark's face as I was walking down the isle! I thought it'd be fun to do a little "recap" about us..If you're interested♡

We decided to have a little impromptu 10 year anniversary photoshoot up on Carp Lake in northern Michigan..Although so windy, we managed to pick some cute purple flowers..or maybe they were weeds ha. Another fun fact: Mark proposed on Christmas eve 2008 in front of my entire family under the Christmas tree!

I would take 10 candid shots over staged any day.. Mark was trying to get me to laugh & he moved the chair back fast & I hysterically started laughing.. I mean he's the best blog hubby ever haha.

YES!! Hundred times over..I would always choose yes!.. Ask me again when he's bugging me haha just kidding!

{ Easiest Pumpkin Display for Indoors or Outdoors }

Happy Tuesday pals & welcome back to TQS from northern Michigan!! If you've been following on my social media outlets you'd know we're up north celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary { September 26th }. We are so blessed to have a cottage in west Michigan to go & unwind, enjoy great food, lakes & antique!! We will be up here for 5.5 days & a few locations...One thing I've noticed is the abundance of pumpkins up here compared to the city or "down state". It got me thinking about how to share an EASY + AFFORDABLE & COZY way to display pumpkins both inside & out....Here's the simplest way:...Keep reading below!

BUCKET FULL OF PUMPKINS!

So, let me explain a little more in depth..I wanted to share something to display pumpkins for the season for any home or style & that's doable for both inside & outside!!

DISPLAY IDEAS:

.Baskets
.Galvanized Buckets
. Hampers
.Crocks
.Picnic Baskets
.Firewood pals

I chose to use this firewood pal because it added that vintage charm & fall feeling..Plus it fit quite a bit of pumpkins!!
I just piled in the larger faux cream ones & them staggered the smaller ones effortlessly!

INDOOR + OUTDOOR:

This pumpkin display idea can be used both indoors or outdoors on patios & porches.
When using outdoors be sure to use faux plastic or real, not burlap or cotton/ fabrics!

I hope you loved this simple & mostly VERSATILE seasonal decor idea for your home! I'm sorry it's a bit short, I'm actually in the jeep way up in northern Michigan on my 10 year anniversary. Okay, off to enjoy!

HAPPY TUESDAY!

{ Keep your Mums Alive Easily }

It's that time of the year again where mums are popping up on every corner market stand, nursery & even the grocery stores!! If you've been a longtime TQS blog reader you'd know I'm not the greatest at keeping real plants alive..just being completely honest! This year while at our local nursery ~Steinkopf~ I talked to one of the young guys I always bug to help me when I need props & this year Mark urged me to ask him how to keep these mums going...SO GLAD I DID!! He gave me some super simple, but helpful tips & I had to share...

We picked up four mums this year! Simple, & at $8 a pop it was efficient too. We chose bold oranges & reds!

1. Water every two days!

 Not too much, not too little.

2.  They LOVE sun!

Keep them full of that sunny goodness.

3. Water Gently!

Broken stems will not come back on most mums as he stated.

4. Cut off dead or broken stems!

Mum stems that are broke usually will not come back.

I hope these super simple  tips help your fall mums flourish! I should mention these are the tips for outdoor mums in their original pots! Now, what's YOUR FAVORITE MUM COLOR??

{ New Fall Mantel Picture }

So little random fact about me? I love old cozy paintings, prints etc....It's one of my first items I look for when we frequent antique shops, vendors, flea markets & so on. The other day I stopped in at a little shop I used to vend at to kill some time & anxiety! If you didn't know, tomorrow { Tuesday} I go for a brain CT scan. Something I never thought I'd be writing about or having to explain. I'm extremely scared not to mention I physically don't feel well from what's going on { praying it's just vertigo }. Anyways, to keep my mind off of things I stopped in at our local little shop not thinking I'd spot my dream piece!!!! You all know I loveee me some vintage East coast colonial style decor..Well, I now that the coziest piece above our living room mantel!!

First I'm so sorry this post is so short, & secondly the quality! I love to use natural lighting BUT M i c h i g a n..haha. I couldn't wait to show you this stunner though!!  I paired it with some appropriate white metal lanterns, simple pumpkin or two & cottonstems for that classic fall colonial feel!!
The crock & sprigs of greenery add that fresh & vintage style paired as one.

I just love the simplicity of this old colonial farmhouse. It looks like some straight out of Maine..In fact I think I took a photo of a home similar while vacationing..YES MY MAINE OBSESSION IS REAL haha.

I wish I could have captured the detail a bit better..The rustic creased paper, imperfections , rustic charm & then some, and for only $20..no typo!!

What are some of your favorite things to collect?

Happy Tuesday!

{ Vibrant Vintage Fall Porch }

Ahhhh my favorite post of autumn or fall.. THE PORCH!! Which do you say? I actually prefer saying autumn haha..it just sounds more New England-ish. You guys know I love autumn on the East coast up by Maine, Connecticut, Vermont etc.. The warm fresh colors, crisp air & vintage wood colonial homes are like nothing else. Anyways, that was kind of my inspiration for this  year's front porch, BUT with a slight spin!!! I decided I wanted to add a touch of  Halloween to it as well. Not the plastic, glittery /gory kind { if you like that, awesome} but more of the Hocus Pocus vintage Salem town it's filmed in! I'm going to stop gabbing & just let you take a look...

We replaced the wood planks first off! I'm actually surprised they last two years in the Michigan elements with just an overhang!! We had more leftover, so fresh warm wood planks it was!! The second thing was the focal point & that's the gorgeous red mums!! I got these for $7.99 each at our local nursery & they're so pretty!! Red ones are my fav & paired with the freshly painted garage they add that much more charm♡.

As you can see I'm pretty obsessed with these SUPER simple Halloween prints, so I moved them out to the fall porch potting bench!! I love the black frames, red mums , soft white pumpkins + gourds together!!

The copper tools, metal garden plaque & watering can added to this cozy space!!

I pulled the vintage red wagon  out at the last minute & I'm glad I did!! It adds that rusty vintage antique charm I crave &+storage for the pumpkins & old galvanized buckets!!

So I have to ask- What are your favorite color mums? I hope you  loved this freshened up fall porch & barn garage!!  Do I dare say I love the color red bahaha.

HAPPY THURSDAY!

{ Whimsical Cottage Fall Window Display }

Today's post is everything magical & whimsical all tied into fall. This little kitchen window is one area I always decorate. It's cute, quaint & fun to add charm to the main kitchen area. We plan to replace it with a gridded window but for now  I wanted to show you what it looks like decorated for fall...

I spotted these fall battery lights at Ikea while doing a haul & had to have them. Little fun fact about me, I loveeee string lights! Not sure what my obsession is other than the pure cozy ambiance they make in ANY space!! The battery pack makes them simple to click on & off.

In the winter & fall months I always have these disposable cups by our coffee bar ready to go for Mark or our guest!! I mean who doesn't love a tasty hot beverage on a cold day?!

I added these new DIY farm curtains & I should have blogged them..but like many other things, I got b u s y...

I added these mini pumpkins in a vintage wash tin, some fresh scrubby brushes, greenery & voila..a squeaky cute clean kitchen sink/ window area.

This handmade recipe of Pumpkin Nut Bread was the perfect final touch. I picked it up in Frankfort, MI right by our cottage at my fav town shop - Betsie Furniture!! Stay tuned for more on them coming to the blog!

I hope you loved this simple fun post!

HAPPY Wednesday!

Cozy Fall Cottage Halloween Tablescape

Tuesday already? This week is flying by, I'm so glad  I have a bunch of post lined up for you guys, because it's sure feeling like fall here in Michigan!! I just can't get enough of this breezy low 60 degree weather!!! It brings out all the inspiration in me & makes me feel good physically..now if the vertigo could subside COMPLETELY..wishful thinking huh?! Anyways on Sunday Mark wasn't feeling well, so while he cozied in bed I got to work!! I started cleaning & decorating one area & that lead to me styling 4 areas, blogging & editing! I don't know if I've ever told ya'll this but I LIVE for photographing a fresh space & sitting down after a long day & editing my work. I just love it plain & simple. So back to decorating..I got sidetracked { like now ha} & ended up redoing the dining room a little more"style".. Read more below for what I mean!

As soon as I spotted these super simple vintagey prints by Pump Studio I had to get them! The  chunky wood sign also caught my eye  because of the simple print. Like I was mentioning above, I wanted the dining + kitchen to be more " my true style". I've been stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with decor to show you all more material, but I was over the blue whimsical pumpkin look { few posts back}. I crave cozy vintage home decor & always will...I hope you're okay with that♡?!

I kept the market sign because it pairs with the simple new chandelier so well. My vision for this look:  A cool breezy fall day of baking with the windows open, pumpkin pie baking & candles going!!!

I wanted to add that touch of vintage Halloween too, so I added  a faux black "witchy recipe book"...not really but you get it.

The cozy neutrals, pops of minimal orange & the tiny splashes of Halloween make this comfy fall dining room.

I used pinches of vintage items like the flour sifter, marmalade jar mixed with new items like the prints & white milk glass masons.

I kept this area pretty much the same, just less cluttered but still filled to the brink with pumpkins & baking jars!

I never thought I'd be be blogging a cozy Halloween-ish tablescape centerpiece but well I'm SO GLAD I did. I actually love the vintage Halloween vibe..Now all I need is a spell book hahaha.

HAPPY TUESDAY!
