{ Summer Garden Sunflowers }

 Hey my pals!! Hope your summer is going smoothly & you're enjoying everything summer entails! Ours has been quite eventful & not in a good way unfortunately! Within a week our appliances decided to crash on us...Washer { only 2 yrs old }, garage door, AC & furnace!! Needless to say I needed a little pickup & some AC stat!! I had a bunch of errands to run & didn't mind because jeep AC ha.. Anyways, I bought myself some $2 sale Sunflowers & greens to brighten my sweltering day.  I usually grab some from my dad's dead-end, but I haven't made it over lately..So sale Kroger flowers it is! They weren't in horrible shape, but I have a few tips to perk up drooping sunflower heads for you...Keep reading below for this simple tip!

This is a space I don't share much here on the blog, with the exception of Christmas! It's our lower level basement kitchenette area! I decided after I cleaned down here I would put the fresh flowers down here! We've been staying down here since the AC is being repaired  { I'm heat intolerant from Lupus }. One thing lead to another & well, I got rid of a whole bag of stuff, cleaned & refreshed!!

This perky guy or gal is a healthy sunflower! Upright, perky & full!! See below for tips on  droopy or bent Sunflowers & how to perk them back up!!

SUNFLOWER TIPS:
• if drooping they could be dehydrated.  Add some warm water & a bit of sugar to the water. Cut the stems on an angle & stir the water. This should perk them up!

•Side Note: Don't those apple pie cookies look delicious??

Something about Sunflowers  are so summery...

We love using this space in the winter for entertaining, but this summer I was determined to bring summer inside down here...Especially with our AC being repaired. This garden sign is one of my most favorite vintage replicas. I needed something big for this wall & this sign was the perfect size & summer look!!

I hope you liked this post! Sorry about the light & quality, it's been a humid gloomy summer & light down here is scanty at times!! Did you know this sunflower revival tip??

HAPPY Tuesday!

{ Garden Fresh Summer Mantel }

 Happy Tuesday, pals! As many of you know I've been going through someone changes, dealing with health issues & just figuring thing's out.. One thing I'm trying to work on is being more spontaneous & worry free! I've always been a worrier & spontaneous actually, but also super type A thatgets the best of me!! Today a friend & I after some outside work decided to have a yummy sit down lunch, visit a greenhouse & have a little flower photoshoot in her storybook { fawns, patio door turtle visitors, neighbor horses etc..} garden & property! I also did something for myself { I'll share Thursday}, but today I'm sharing the flowers my bestie bouquet'ed  up for me fresh from the garden!

The most beautiful flowers right?!! The walk-in meadow lined with these is so charming upon pulling in her driveway!

Although I don't decorate with pink very often, if ever, today I did!! Spontaneous post, photoshoot & I love them!!  They paired nicely with this woven basket from last weekend's market!!

I don't think these blooms could have gotten any bigger! They're just natural beauties growing...Sometimes it's best to let nature do its thing!

I hope you loved this beautiful summer cottage style post!! I mean can you go wrong with fresh wild meadow flowers? I don't have a huge flower garden, do you? What's your favorite flower..?

HAPPY Tuesday!

{ The BEST gift Idea }

 Hey pals welcome back to TQS!! Things have been so busy our way & unfortunately not just busy, but also sad! On April 11th 2021 we lost my uncle Randall at the young age of 63! It wasn't only my sister's birthday but also the loss of an amazingly decorated & colorful person! Randall was actually my step uncle who married my auntie when I was 18! He had been part of our family since my mother & auntie were young children, and fit in our small family unit so well! He was a dedicated honorable soldier, father, husband, steel engineer & all around one of the most genuine + comical people. His battle with thyroid cancer was quick & death even quicker....We're  all in shock still. A few days after his passing I got a DM/ Email from a company that wanted to collab! Now, if you know me, you know I usually only collab/ sponsor/ work with companies that fit my blog niche. I get offers consistently through the weeks & months that I decline, but something told me to open this...SO glad I did!!! Keep reading below for deets on the BEST gift for anyone at anytime!!

When 3DLASERGIFTS reached out I knew I had to pick this collab up! All I could think about was how much my auntie would enjoy having this memorable necklace with her favorite photo of Randall on it!
I have to say I was skeptical about the photo coming out because of the older photo quality etc. . The photo is of Randall on his boat on the lake wearing a vest! That was no easy task, but 3DLASERGIFTS did it!!!!!!

FAQS:
The precise laser makes tiny voids & connects coordinates from the laser beams to connects points to essentially create the image under the surface of the crystal! How nifty, right?!

The gift of a laser crystal is amazing!! You can search the their site for so many more options for memorable cherished gifts for anyone on any occasion!! The team at 3DLASERGIFTS is giving me a code to share with you all..QUAINT35 for 35% off anything on their site!! With Mother's Day approaching I'd be a  great gift!

I am so pleased at the level of precision & how authentic this company has been!

I hope you love your new laser item as much as I love this for my auntie! Happy & healthy weekend to all!

HAPPY Thursday!

{ New Bedframe & Mattress REVIEW}

 This is one of those posts thst have been in the works for quite sometime! You see we went from a California king mattress  to a queen when we moved to this house 9 years ago! It was quite the downsize in bedroom size & mattress, but we actually loved the coziness! Fast forward 9 years later followed with lots of aches & pains from aging + unfortunate accidents it was definitely time for a new bedroom refresh.  That meant not  just new fresh white paint, but also bedframe mattress  too!! Keep reading below for a closer look & review...

I wanted a simple " grown up " master but still bright, cozy & a touch of whimsical! Of course I stuck with a neutral pallet but with with tons of texture & accents!

•FAQS:

• Brand: Nectar
• Bedframe: King in color Linen
• Mattress is a King in the original Nectar
• Mattress Style: Memory foam -firm-
• Bedframe is wood & fabric with middle supports.

•MATTRESS REVIEW:

We've had the mattress &  bedframe for over a month now & honestly it's decent!! The foam mattress is pretty firm, but in a good way.  For us,  we needed that because of back/ health issues.  Our old mattress was a bit softer & you almost sunk into it { Vera Wang brand }.

•BEDFRAME REVIEW:

The bedframe was huge for us! We haven't had one in years & I didn't want to spend a huge amount considering we're actively STILL house hunting. We however did want something cozy, neutral & sturdy in the meantime.  We were questioning the sturdiness of this popular online option, but honestly its been nice!! No sounds, shifting or shaking thus far!  The frame linen is decent fabric, but a bit darker than I would have liked!

PROS:

•  Affordability
• Quick shipping
• Easy assembly
• Design appeal
• Came with amazing 100% cotton sheets

CONS:

• Limited color options
• Limited types of mattresses
• Not made in the USA
• Pillows aren't for everyone { large & quite stiff }

I hope you liked this spring bedroom refresh! It was a long time coming & just after the holidays were over, we decided to pull the plug! Again, for the ease & affordability I'd definitely recommend it.
If you have anything to add or have purchased from Nectar let me know in the comments.

HAPPY Thursday!

{ Welcoming Spring Entryway }

 Happy Monday! It's a bright & fresh semi spring day here in Michigan! Sunday was glorious & we got a bunch of items checked off our long ' spring cleanup ' list! While Mark was outside working on some venting, I decided to open up all the windows, cast some music & freshen up the living room for spring a bit! While freshening up the living room, I decided to photograph our spruced up entryway! Although this space isn't huge, it is its own space & gets used quite a bit...I wanted to incorporate more storage, outgoing mail area & a welcoming look upon entrance! Come see more below.....

I really needed an area to put outgoing mail, so it doesn't end up on the counter in baskets! I've seen this leather & brass  mail bag at Target 10000 times! I finally decided in a rush to grab it & the welcome sign too. I just so happened to have the vintage key... to coordinate. The wall art is an older Target find too.

Although I wanted a more vintage look, I love that it's fresh, cottagey & flows nicely when you step up into the kitchen area! The brass flows nicely with our new hardware & brass pantry door. The vintage wood bench is handmade, rustic & the perfect size!
• To the right of this is the mudroom closet conversion for layout of our whole entryway as this is just 1 wall!

I managed to slip in a bit of greenery in this old burlap bag & added these vintage keys...

I'm showing my age, but who else still snail mails it? I still send out certain things & bills through the mail..Call me old fashioned  ha.

I hope you liked this refreshed entryway. It's simple, cohesive, functional & a bit pretty! Do you have an entryway you decorate?

HAPPY Monday!

{ Industrial Antique Laundry Room Makeover }

 You guys it's FINALLY HERE, laundry room reveal day!! We've been working on this winter project for the past three weeks..It's been on our list for years & just before we move we decided to finish it haha..typical Mark & Paige! Since we're on a standstill with homes, we decided to keep doing projects around this little cottage home of ours. The laundry room was feasible to do during the wintertime here!

It's going to be a long winded post, sit back, get comfy & come grab some simple inspiration below...

●Before

• during cutting of beadboard •

●After

FAQS:
•Under $600 for whole project
• We hired out zero help
• Took 3 weeks of just weekend work
• Space is large at roughly 16x16
• Antique  Industrial inspired
• Washer & Dryer are GE Deep Fill. They're huge  { biggest no agitator available }& were purchased in late 2018!

SOURCES + PRODUCTS:
• Beadboard & trim
• White paint
• New rug
• Epoxy
• Brass farmhouse screw- in light!
• Saw
• Liquid nail extreme
• Antiques
• Metallic brass paint
• Clear spray enamel
• We left the ceiling exposed warm wood

This a space we use a ton in our home! With DIY's , work, 3 dogs & covid looming we are constantly washing something..We had to think a bit before starting this project as the walls are concrete! We didn't feel it was necessary to nail or drill into the concrete all over, so we used Liquid Nail Extreme  from Homedepot.com part of the laundry room had old paneling, we just nailed over. The other part we used Liquid Nail! It was quite the job at first getting the boards to adhere to the cold Michigan winter cement walls..With the heat turned up a bit we were a go!!

One of my most favorite aspects of this new space is the antique items displayed..The vintage inspired sign & real antique framed art from 1940s Canada, brushes, drawers etc...  The wall treatment adds that special finished charm! Lots of laundry room vintage items, but also storage & a changing work room for Mark!

All the furniture is painted black wood pieces in here. The corner shelf with Mark's work clothes { to the left of this } , this vintage coat hanger & the folding table. Touches of green, brass & cream add to the color pallet!

The brass wire basket is from HomeGoods, laundry baskets- HomeGoods, rug - Ollies & sign- homemade!

I love I can sit in here while loads are going, or I'm folding, dying items, ironing etc.. These chippy green vintage drawers house Mark's hats & socks!

All of the hardware from the door handle to pipes to outlets to sink were painted using brass paint & sealed with clear spray enamel!

Behind the door is a storage room that runs the length of the room, carpeted & lighted. "Christmas closet" if you will...

I hope you liked this practical large dressing, laundry room & storage room!

Are you constantly doing laundry like me? Do you have a designated laundry space, room or closet?
