DIY Updated Brass Kitchen

 A few months ago I got this extreme  love in our home for brass..vintage brass to be more exact! Granted I've always loved brass, I didn't have many collectables..I also at the same time thought about adding new kitchen hardware throughout the kitchen & stretching it into the dining room! Well, I got some of my trusty Modern Masters Brass satin finish out & got too work...This then stretched quickly into a brass kitchen/ dining makeover ha. Come see some super simple modern cottage updates...

I've said it a million times, but I just love the Modern Masters paint! This antique DIY glass window door is one of my favorite projects we've added to the kitchen.  It's been painted 4 times & I absolutely love the brass panes pained with the cabinet hardware.. It's warm, fresh & light!

Side Note: the paint isn't perfect, but antique looking kind if how an original would be with panes!

Brass wall planters, frames, pantry, pillows, candlesticks & hardware! Not a huge update but definitely different!

The pantry got a huge clean out too! Although as mentioned in my stories I loved our mix of vintage wood crates, but they were too big! Big, heavy & dark. Dark is honestly why I removed them! I added these cream & brown totes for a more stream line fresh & bright look. The top shelf holds snacks, the middle holds all our canned items  & bottom mostly boxed only goods.

The candlesticks are all thrifty finds... the larger ones are from northern Michigan roadside antiquing & the smaller are from Goodwill.

** I used Modern Masters paint on the hardware { 2 coats } & then sealed with a clear spray enamel.

I forgot above to mention the new gold wheat pom lumbar pillows!! I got for from Amazon & each huge parson dining chair got one.

Do you like the new update? Are you a fan of brass home decor & accents? I think this trend may be on it's way to stay longer...

HAPPY Saturday!

{ Cozy Brass Spring Mantel }

 Hey pals  HAPPY MONDAY & welcome back to TQS! It's a slushy rainy day here in Michigan, so why not freshen & liven up the inside!! I've been playing around with spring decor lately & have a bunch coming to the blog!! I'm just waiting on a few product shipments for a space then I'll share!!!

Anyways, today I'm here to share another fireplace look...I'm sorry if you're getting sick of this area, but it's the only space mostly done ha! I wanted this mantel to feature a warm but vintage feel, so brass, greenery & glass make up this mantel look. Come see it all below....

This space couldn't be more of a fresh look! It's super warm with all the brass planters & fresh with the variety of greenery & plants!

I wanted some texture mixed in with shiny brass & glass mantel mixture, so I added these plain rustic grey wicker baskets!

The fireplace needed a little something, so I added this sign! Simple, thrifty & a touch of brass to tie everything together..

This space is giving me major spring vibes & getting me through these gloomy slushy winter days!! Have you started brining spring into your space?
•Side Note: I'll be sharing our spring kitchen makeover soon!!

HAPPY Monday!

{ DIY Antique Brass Wash Tub }

 Hey pals welcome back to TQS! So a few weeks ago I shared our laundry room remodel..Well after I shared it I got quite a few nessages inquiring about our wash tub & also comments as to why I didn't show much?! Well, that was for a specific reason actually...I wanted to do a whole write up on the DIY  of it & actually break everything down for you! It's become one of my most favorite & of course simple DIY projects to date!

Backup to before we did this diy..I had this vision of an old vintage cottage antique laundry room with lots of brass, greenery, soaps + brushes, and just an overall clean washing space! Anways I got this idea in my head about this tub for a few reasons...Keep reading below to find out why we did this & more importantly HOW!

PRODUCTS USED:

▪︎ Appliance Epoxy in Black {3}
▪︎ Rust-oleum Satin Clear Enamel {1}
▪︎ Brass metalic in satin by Modern Masters { 2 }

The brass & black add so much charm & for under $50! We originally were going to buy a new black tub because of a small hole ,but unfortunately it was back ordered 3 weeks, so we got handy & I'm so glad we did! The industrial brass charm is magical & adds so much charm to this space!

TUTORIAL:

This was seriously one of the easiest tutorials of all time! I first scrubbed the tub clean by using a light sand paper & brillo pad with some Dawn dish soap. I rinsed & dried every inch meticulously.  I layerd old towels over the washer + dryer & opened a window.. I applied the first coat & waited the appropriate time & sprayed the next 2. After the tub was sprayed I started with the brass paint! I used a small soft brush & applied even coats & about 3 layers { this paint goes on like butter & goes a long way }. After everything was dried I sprayed the clear enamel over everything { the Epoxy there is no need } but for added protection I did!! The brass paint needed the clear enamel to harden & prevent peeling or chipping as it's a decorative paint mostly! I used about 3 coats of the enamel & everything hardened & turned out glorious! It's seriously that simple!!

•Side Note: wear a mask while spraying!

We do a TON of laundry & it's held up against bleach & dirt like a champ! I recommend keeping an extra of each product or leftover for any down the road touch-ups needed if any!!

I hope this tutorial helps you & you try it! It honestly is remarkable the difference & simplicity!

{ Vintage Valentine's Day Mantel Styling }

 It's that time of year again where love is extra special in every way ! I bet you can guess what I'm talking about even if you don't care for red, pink & whites as everyday home decor colors...At least not for me ha. I did however take some of my favorite "lovey" things to incorporate into a mantel for you guys to showcase on the blog today! I think I've only blogged one other Valentine's Day post before, so it's fresh + fun!! Come see more below......

I wanted an elegant rustic vintage mantel with lots of texture & vintage charm!! Things that we associate love & Valentine's  with like hearts, black & white photos, flowers, bows, and candlesticks!!

Since I wanted a vintage mantel but still to entail a " Valentine's Day" theme I used all of the above items but in an antique & rustic way.. For example huge imperfect chunky almond & vanilla candles, vintage brass candlesticks & creamy white neutral roses!

I DIY'd these wood heart frames with metalic brass paint & placed old black + white photos in them...They look so elegant but old & romantic for almost nothing!!!

I've mentioned before but my gram had these made for me...They light up & are so beautiful! The layered green ribbon bow adds that effortlessly romantic feel..

Do you decorate for Valentine's Day anywhere in your home? Honestly I just felt inspired & so blessed to have my Spark, I thought why not?! With Mark's birthday on the 11th, it's always extra special for us to celebrate.

HAPPY Tuesday!
