{ Update & Progress + Patio Spruce Up Quickly in 3 Easy Steps! }

Hey everyone!!! Thanks for stopping back in today! I hope you all had a lovely long weekend..We just hung around the house & enjoyed each others company while sprucing up the yards & getting things in order { somewhat }, while purging things etc.. Today's post isn't fancy or pretty, but more of an update I wanted to share with you guys! So as you know we are actively looking for our forever home/ farm & well let's just say we haven't found ANYTHING- boo!! Yes, we are a bit picky, but we don't want to " buy just to buy" type of thing since we do really love our now home! The only reason we are moving is because of my husbands business is growing  rapidly...{ I thought I'd share that here since some of you have asked}. Anyways with all that being said, you guys know me & I just can't leave a space alone even if we are planning on moving! While Mark was smoking some meats & the dogs were outside playing we decided to move the patio furniture out & add some new cushions/ some treasures from our junk pile to spruce the space up. The weekend before we washed everything & stacked the fire-pit with all our scrap wood, so it was the perfect timing! We also had to retire our red cushions FINALLY after 5 years & although the color wasn't our style anymore, the cushions were really nice quality compared to the new ones...maybe a DIY on the old ones soon?! Since we have been working on just sprucing little parts of the back patio up for bonfires etc..I decided to quickly snap a few progress pictures.. I always hesitate about posting "progress" pictures, because let's be honest most of blogland is staged perfection..Not here on TQS haha..this blogs for the average folk I guess ha!

1. Signs or Decor!

Signs can make any space feel decorated & fun! They also are super affordable, durable & versatile! I found this one in our treasure pile of junk & plucked it out & just set it here..It was previously in back behind on our little red shed behind the big white wood garage..See one of my first post HERE

2. Cushions/ Pillows!

This one not only is a must for us since the previous owners tore down the screened in porch, but because they add that texture & warmth element to an outdoor space! I picked these green cushions up the other day for $80 at our local Ollies & surprisingly they're decent quality & match pretty much anything! The pillows are from @target & just add charm & for me extra cushion while sitting out here { bad back }! Both are weather resistant, but can be sprayed with weather proof if need be or stored in a trunk! Pillows always for me help pull a space together..& we already had these on hand.

3. Flowers/ Greenery!

The simplest way for me to make a space cozy or inviting is to add greenery all over! I use both real & faux greenery throughout our home & outside! A lot of the faux greenery can be pricey, but when I'm quickly "sprucing" up a space like this I just grab Dollar Tree flowers! They hold up outside well & cost next to nothing. You can also snag quite a bit at stores like @michaels & @hobbylobby when they have their 50% coupons!!

 I hope you guys liked this tip/ progress picture! I'm sorry this is a shorter post & not staged etc.. but you all know I like to keep it practical here on TQS! Life isn't staged right..at least ours isn't hehe! I love y'alls input so leave me some comments below on how you style your patio or porch , I love new ideas!!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

As always THANK YOU for stopping in on my little growing blog. I know everyone says something like this, but I honestly appreciate each of you for sharing my posts, commenting etc....I'm not the biggest or most popular blogger, but I am humble, real & practical ,and  hopefully helpful or inspiring in someway :).

{ HomeGoods 3 Tier Makeup Stand Storage }

Hey everyone & welcome back! I've got a fun little storage decor idea for you guys today. I had been wanting a 3 tier stand for sometime, but was quite over the typical ways of using them...I spotted this wood & galvanized one for $20 @homegoods & snagged it! If you know anything about these 3 tier stands you would know they range all the way up into prices as high as $150!! When I spotted this simple one I knew I wanted it because it was super simple looking, but also because the price & possibilities were endless!! I brought it home & it just kind of sat in our master with the tags still on it until a few weeks ago when I washed it & got the perfect idea for it..MAKEUP STAND!! I remembered I had been wanting something to set all my "everyday" makeup on instead of always having to go into my makeup vanity for something..I loved this one because it's sturdy & the 3 tiers are super deep, so the makeup, lotions, sprays, contacts & so on.. don't roll off onto the ground...which with my messy vanity is usually the case haha!  Come see more about this storage idea below & let me know if you all like these kind of posts?!

I love the simplicity of this stand unlike so many others! It's super nice quality, durable & great size! The handle makes it nice & easy to move & the neutral design makes it simple to style in other areas of our home!

Side Note: It's about 2ft or a little under!

Fun little fact about me, I'm super simple with makeup..I buy cheap & basic stuff that last quite sometime! I use 5 basic items when I get ready usually & I'm not one for all the " new products" or routines out.. most of the time! I have really fare skin & have never had an issue with acne or breakouts..I even sleep in my eye makeup sometimes..eek I know! I wash my face with plain ole cold water, fresh towel & apply coco butter or Booths natural "Buttery Vanilla" lotion several few times a day..See easy peasy!!!

I like how the wood detailing pairs nicely with my vanity & this old wood junkin chair we found! You can see the post on this vanity HERE

The chalkboard cabinet was a free find & just holds lotions & sprays! It's nice to be able to hide the not so pretty goods ha!

The galvanized trays make it easy to clean as well..& you guys know my clean happy self loves that hehe!

**What do you guys think about this makeup stand? How do you store your makeup items & what not?! Be sure to let me know below if you like these kind of posts too..I know this is a bit out of the norm for me & TQS!

Wishing you all a fantastic long weekend!

{ Cozy Indoor & Outdoor Patriotic Pillows from Pottery Barn }

Happy Tuesday everyone! The week has been moving right along & honestly the last few days have been amazing! I don't know if it's the warmer summery weather or what, but we've been super busy enjoying this home of ours before we list { please pray we find a home soon } & these last few days we've been busy sprucing up our patio, trimming our little pasture area, washing our big wood garage,  filling the fire-pit with wood, adding a chippy white fence & sodding some spots the dogs have ruined by playing constantly in! After we got ALL that done we washed down our painted patio, added decor, put a rug down & set out the tables & cushions...I've been meaning to replace our red cushions for quite sometime & will be this weekend..With that being said I noticed I have like no cozy decorative outdoor pillows! I came across some AWESOME & stylish ones from @potterybarn for the indoors or outdoors & yay many of them are patriotic & on SALE!! Come see the ones I picked out for you guys below..

Which pillow is your favorite? I loved the mixed in farmhouse & cottage style striped & grainsack & sooo many of these are on sale & much cheaper than other places! The grainsack is such a great deal & I may have just ordered some tonight!! Let me know down below which one was your favorite!!

*You can see our patriotic dining room HERE

{ Vintage Style Patriotic Kitchen Decor Inspiration }

Heyyyy lovely friends, I hope your week has been great! We've been getting slammed with super warm weather here in Michigan & of course I've been purging stuff, getting ready for summer & decorating hahah big surprise there! With everything we have going on with house {farm} hunting, work & everything in between I've felt like I needed some color & a fresh look in the dining room etc.. I mentioned in my last post that I haven't felt well lately { I'll share after my tests} & that's put a little damper on things! I hate being in limbo & honestly it gets me stressed & I feel worse..With that being said I thought styling a little area for 4th of July would perk me up! It's almost June so I'm not too worried about it being to early as Hobby Lobby has their Autumn decor out already hahahahah... The first thing I think about when the end of May hits is summer & 4th of July at our family cottage! I love anything vintage style for the holiday, but not so much the flashy plastic style goods ha. I actually got the inspiration for this post while I was out shopping at Target! I came home { house a mess } & just started grabbing things I had around..which is so not like me because for some reason I have a really hard time finding 4th decor I like..It's like it was meant to be haha. My sister was keeping the pups entertained in the living room while I through all this together ..at 10pm..with stuff from shopping everywhere..on a Wednesday night..TYPICAL ME ha! Anyways come read & gather some early 4th inspiration below!

When I think of 4th of July I think of good ole' country music playing, huge buckets of cherries & apples & lots of laughs! I love the color red to begin with, not usually for decor but I was excited to add these apples, some vintage rolling pins, & some other treasures!

This was the easiest centerpiece ever! I just used the cream chalkboard planter from Rae Dunn, some faux Ikea plants, vintage milk bottles & 2 cloth napkins I placed together that I got on sale for under $4!! The flags were $1 from Target dollar spot!

The vintage blue masons are pretty much my favorite! They give that festive super vintage charm & add that fun pop of whimsy color! I love how our pantry looks with these goods too.. You can see our DIY Vintage Pantry HERE if you would like to make one..

Pussy willow branches & white flowers are definitely another thing I picture when decorating for the 4th! These ones were on sale from Michaels a few years back! The vintage barrel, stool & ladder were all free finds!
 What do you guys think about this festive dining room? When do you start decorating for summer & the 4th?

See last year's 4th Posts:
Wishing you all a happy & healthy Friday & weekend!

{ New Cottage Style HomeGoods Living Room Shelf }

Happy fresh new week everyone! So a few days ago I blogged about some new changes in our upper living room - HERE - happening s l o w l y! I started this little "spruce" up a few weeks ago & have been picking up pieces here & there for something fresh & summery! I started with this piece - HERE - & have been adding to it since. This weekend my sister & I decided to get ready { rare for me haha } & go do a little shopping for vacation  { See My IG }  & of course there was a @Marshalls & @Homegoods right next door...You know what that means.. SHOPPING! We ended up have a great Saturday night just relaxing & enjoying an all around beautiful & calm night! Today I'm here to show you what I ended up picking up at HomeGoods for less than $30 & something we truly needed { Keep reading below }.

So you've probably guessed it by now, but Yes, I FINALLY found a new shelf for our upper living room area!! The plain white distressed one from forever ago finally gave out { thankfully while no one was sitting there } & I decided to retire it to a new location { See My IG }

*Slipcover is from Ikea!

If you've noticed I've been slowly removing anything black from this space as well & replacing with weathered grey/white washed accents for spring/ summer! The table to the right next to the sofa will be getting a makeover soon too!

I love that this mantel shelf has both the weathered grey wash look & the galvanized top part! It also adds to this space because of the bottom part that almost looks like a little fence..Meshes well with our summer floral pattern sofa cover for summer!

I think I mentioned this via a few posts back, but I did remove the black lantern chandelier that was in here for this older one we had in here before..Few changes coming to it as well, but for now I love the vintagey garden feel this space is slowly taking on!

 This new fresher & lighter looking space for our breezy summers ahead has me craving all our adventures we have planned already! What do you think about the new shelf?

{ Farmhouse Style Spring Window Decor, New Signs & Update.. }

Hi. Before I start this post I should warn you It's going to be long & very candid on what's been going on around here & why the blog has been slower than usual in terms of content etc.. So I've mentioned this before, but I have a bad back, have had kidney issues in the past & a few other issues going on..I've put off going to the dr. for many reasons one being that I have extreme " white coat " syndrome & literally go into a panic to where I can barley talk! I'm not sure why I have this seeing as I was exposed to many hospital visits for various reasons as a child & not just for me...actually typing that just gave me my answer. Anyways, lately my back has been so bad I can't even sit up in bed in the morning without my left side of my rib cage spasing uncontrollably for the first hour upon waking! I'm in constant pain but cover it up super well { my pain tolerance is crazy }. While all this has been going on I've also felt guilty even feeling a tad bit sad for myself etc..because let's face it there is so much worse going on in the world to animals & people daily. With that being said, that brings me to my next issue I've been having or actually feeling..This "blogland" world can be an awesome source of inspiration & encouragement & business all in one, but it does have a downside..and that is the need to be better & the best 24/7! I see it all the time on IG especially from those who buy followers, market to the extreme etc.. Now I'm not knocking that style, but it's left me feeling like what is the point of it all? For example I see my mom fighting for animals in shelters, protesting, volunteering her time after her professional work week { dental field } & to me that's so much more important than home decor! I love EVERYTHING home, but what purpose does it really serve? Yes, it's inspirational, makes you feel great to have a nicely styled house or be praised/ have awesome treasures etc.. but really its all blah blah blah compared to what really matters- at least for me! I love blogging & being able to share practical home stuff with you guys & for that I'm truly thankful for this homegrown organic business of mine.

Back to today's post..the cutest new signs from my mom as a little gift for our 10 year anniversary together! I had the perfect spot for them & then decided to spruce of our kitchen window with some spring decor!! It's super simple, cozy & thrifty per usual! Come take a peek & these cute little signs with the most authentic message ever from @biglots!

The rustic burlap curtain was a DIY almost 2 years ago HERE
I find it fun & inspirational to look back at past posts & see what has changed & how I've grown with this little business of mine!

How cute are those signs? I love the message, neutral/farmhouse look & bonus they were both under $5!

I find it so crazy when I share a picture of our kitchen window decorated it's one of my most liked pictures!! The most random spots I tell ya hahah! I do love this cozy kitchen of ours though!

I really hope you guys have a WONDERFUL weekend ahead & spend it doing something you love, enjoying family & just being well! Thanks again for the continued support &
P.S. sorry this post was a bit all over...Sometimes being honest is the best therapy!

Do you decorate your kitchen window area?

Happy Friday!
