{ Summer Patio Reno Part 2 }

Happy Monday & Memorial Day! Thanking those who gave their all for our freedom 🙏 !
I wanted to quickly share the second part to our 3 part installment patio reno refresh!! It's taken a few weeks due to goods being delayed & our Michigan weather! This weekend was glorious & the perfect time to diy, style & share some decor! I love being able to share my vision on projects with you all & I hope you love being able to follow along! Come take a closer peek below..

If you scroll a few posts back you'll see why I kept with the stately classic traditional look! Our home is very classic with old red brick, white wood & columns & that's exactly how I wanted the back to flow from the front porch to the back.

I'm still waiting on a bunch of decor, so I only snapped this little glimpse of the table for a peek! I went traditional with colors, but the greenery I have coming will add that classic summery feel. I'll be sharing the DIY  cafe light posts, lights & the rest soon!!

I ran out of time before sporadic rain shower, but I did get these trees potted { I need more soil }. They're 3ft faux pines from Amazon.com

I hope you like this patio series! Things aren't super fast right now & things limited but it's still coming together nicely! The main thing I wanted complete were the DIY 8ft cafe light posts!  Once the rest of the decor  comes & possible new table { my order was cancelled } then I'll  photograph the whole patio! I had a completely different look going for this space originally,  but with stores like IKEA closed it's hard getting items. Thanks for being patient on this ride with me!

HAPPY Monday!

{ Classic Patriotic Porch }

Today was GLORIOUS! Glorious because instead of letting my struggles get in my way I decided to throw on some black ratty clothes, top knot & slides & go outside!! I'm glad I did because I got so much done, lots of sunny vitamin D & fresh air!  It's been another long winter plus extra rainy spring here in Michigan,  so it was indeed glorious...even if I did slice my finger wide open!
Today's post is one of absolute favorites to share with you guys- Patriotic decor ♡!!! When May hits I get the summer itch to make our traditional red brick cottage even more classic with patriotic goodness!! I love sharing with you guys to give you ideas since patriotic decor can be tricky if not decorated correctly!
Come see our front porch decked out for Memorial  day !!!

This was a spur of the moment shoot..kind of! You see , I knew I wanted to get a Memorial Day post out & yesterday the opportunity arose when I was waiting for our patio to dry!
I got Mark's drill out & hung our flag, but before that I sliced my finger open with scissors..so it's not perfect & I got blood on the flag...

Our home has a very classic traditional look, almost stately, so I wanted to keep with that look! Simple vintage metal watering cans, flag, boxwood greenery & comfy flip flops ha!

I debated on posting this photo because my Jeep is in the driveway & I had  to jumble our address for privacy, but I did anyway!!!  Nothing more classic than a jeep & red garage right!?

The wicker basket gave that touch of New England charm but still classic traditional! These baskets are so easy to find at thrift shops & for close to nothing!!

•pillows from Amazon & Walmart!

I hope you loved this classic patriotic porch of ours! Our little home fits this style so easily I couldn't not do a post + share sources / tips for my pals!

{ Summer Patio Reno Part 1 }

This weekend we worked on the back patio nearly the entire day! We had to use Saturday all up because it's literally rained here in Michigan for all of May almost! Saturday was 65 & partly sunny so we took it & ran haha! We got almost everything done diy wise! The 4 cafe planter light posts are all cemented,  patio painted { first coat } & all the posts painted minus 1! We even got the firepit rebricked, surround removed, new pea gravel,  edging & a sign hung! Still SO much to do, but Sunday  { today } through Tuesday will be complete rain here...Hoping to have it finished by Memorial Weekend 🙏 .
One thing I did want to document was the process..Our life isn't curated, so here's the full process & mess...

These pictures aren't pretty or complete like I usually post  on here,  but they're  real & process photos!

I did manage to grab one decent  picture of the garage with the new " Welcome " sign! More on that later..

{ Surefit Wingback Chair REVIEW }

I've been hinting for a few weeks that I was going to be switching out the green + cream check wingback chairs, and  well today I'm sharing!!! I thought instead of just showing them in our home in a regular post I would do a little review for you, my pals!! Afterall it is my job to give you honest opinions! Come take a peek at these cozy white wingback slipcovers  below + FAQS...

* This post is NOT sponsored in anyway!

• Other cozy chairs AshleyHomeStore

Little back story,  we bought these chairs off of Facebook Marketplace for $40. I loved the wingback comfy vibe & cream + green check! After awhile I wanted a fresh bright change, so I researched slipcovers...Wowza they're expensive! I waited for these Surefit brand to go on sale for 3 months. From $89 a cover to $48!!!

REVIEW:

PROS:
  • Heavy cotton twill
  • Washed up well
  • Pure white
  • Soft
  • Nice ruffle bottom detail

CONS:
  • Dimensions are way off
  • Quite large
  • Lots of tucking & maneuvering
  • Price high { if not on sale }
  • Relaxed fit, not fitted

What I Recommend...

• Wash cover in warm/ hot water
• Machine dry medium heat/ little  damp.

With all that being said above, I think for the price on sale was super fair!! They're easy to work with after some tucking, but if your chair run larger they'll be perfect.  I love the minimal detail  on the bottom for that cottage look & the fabric quite thick.

Comfy new look for under $100! I would recommend these, but be sure your chairs are a little bigger than the package dimensions if you don't like tucking! A friend of mine  in this blog community also mentioned using a butter knife to tuck cleanly if your chairs are smaller in size { thanks Jessica }!

• Pom pillows from Amazon

Have you used Surefit slipcovers before? Any tips or tricks leave them below!

HAPPY Thursday!

{ Vintage Patriotic Dining Room }

One time of the year I look forward to as in decorating & activities more or as equal as Christmas is Memorial Day + Fourth of July! I love the fun vintage patriotic decor, ease into summer feel! This year I decided  to go with a vintage minimal colonial vibe! I had some new items from my gram she had tucked away for 40+ years , so I wanted to use them! Come see more below...

I shared on stories I was painting these galvanized olive bucket hanging pots & I'm so glad I did!! The chippy white is bright fresh & gives this barn door even more charm!!!! I stuck a few mini flags in & one of my favorite aprons & instantly festive!!

This Colonial inspired dining room came together basically effortlessly! I hung the picture,  painted the frame, rehung the mantel & added some festive Memorial Day stuff. Flags, vintage statues,  dark boxwood greens & FLAGS!!

This centerpiece was the simplest way to display some flags, vintage masons, candlesticks & the 1950 grocery basket itself! It was my grams' & from a Canadian grocery store !

Simple, cozy, festive &summery!

What did y'all think about this vintage Memorial Day decor in our dining room ?  When do you decorate for Memorial Day? Are you a patriotic decor lover too?

HAPPY Thursday!
