{ Farmhouse Style 4th of July Decor with these 6 simple items! }

Hey friends! Thanks for popping back in on the blog!! So, I wanted to share a project I completed over the weekend for 4th of July, but that will be coming tomorrow on the blog..more on that little story later haha! Today I'm sharing some simple farmhouse style 4th decor for any home! You guys already know I'm not one to decorate for smaller holidays like the 4th, but surprisingly this year I'm kind of into it & super excited for the holiday weekend ;)!! With that being said..splashing our house with plastic red, white & blue decor still isn't my cup of tea, so I put together this little simple collage of goods while online shopping tonight! They're simple, festive, summery & can be used all throughout the summer & bonus of course they're practical!!!!! Sit back with some lemonade or an ice cold beverage & browse these simple items to decorate with, & also be sure to check back tomorrow for that DIY, & an update on a project in the works as I type!!

 1. Pillows- Easy to accent any space!

2. Throws- Comfy, practical & add that inviting feel.

3. Vintage signs- Fun & festive for summer & add that farmhouse/cottage appeal!

4. Mason Jar glasses- Simple, durable, farmhouse & thrifty!!

5. Tea towels- Practical & versatile!

6. Flowers- Add warmth, color & rustic appeal!

All these items can purchased just about ANYWHERE, so before I get e-mails about being expensive etc.. I promise these items can be found just about anywhere & on the cheap!!! I just wanted to give some basic ideas to add some cozy festive charm without the cheesy plastic 4th decor { no offense to those who love those goods} !! I can't wait to share some more 4th DIY tomorrow..See this week's theme here on TQS hehe :)! Anyways happy & healthy Monday friends!!

{ Summer Decor Ideas with Tips / Tricks & MORE !! }

Happy official 1st day of summer sweet friends!!! I hope you all had a lovely weekend doing something you love or helping someone or something. With everything that's been going on in the world I've been trying to just do things I love & be around people who mean the most to me. With that being said, I know many of you have been experiencing summer for awhile, but us Michiganders have only been having "real" summer weather since about two weeks ago! With today being the first day of summer 2016, I thought I would share some simple summer decor inspiration with items ANY home can utilize! I also wanted to give a sneak into some areas in our home where I used some of these items/tips! Sit back with an ice cold coca-cola or sweet tea & join me for some quick, simple & fun summer decor!!!
Furniture
1. Lighten up your furniture! If you have dark leather add some light throws or decorative pillows! If you have a slip-covered couch or sofa lighten the print/fabric up!

Greenery
2. Adding any sorts of greenery will help spruce & brighten up any space! I like to use a mixture of plants, flowers & other types of greenery all throughout our home! Real or faux works. I tend to use more faux from +IKEA USA  , +Hobby Lobby  or +Michaels Stores only because my green thumb isn't so green ha..yet!!!!

Candles
3. I always seem to change up our candles throughout our home to lighter & more fruity scents once the warm weather hits! I mean anything floral, fruity, or natural scented I love during the warmer months especially on a cool summer night!

Pillows
4. Pillows are that item that you can switch out with any season or holiday for cheap usually & simply! I like to add more neutral toned pillows or patriotic style during the summer months! I also tend to go with lighter {fabrics} & smaller style during the summer! Cozy on the sofa with some soft throw pillows on a summer evening..Yes Please!!!

Patriotic
5. I'll be the first to say I keep 4th of July decor to the minimal, but I also love adding rustic/vintage patriotic stuff all around the house for the whole summer!  It adds that summer cozy charm & reminds you of those long warm summer nights with loved ones!

Basic Decor
6. Signs or lettering etc. are one of those decor items that can help bring in different seasons, holidays or even styles & summer is no exception! I'm pretty much obsessed with the "garden" one above. They're easy to DIY & bonus you can find signs like this just about anywhere. +HomeGoods  is one of my favorite chain places for them!
Adding decor like lanterns that can be used in just about any season or occasion are another way to bring in some summer decor. Using lanterns inside or out will work for any summery space. I decided to put the pair of birdcages in place of lanterns just because these decorative cages reminded me of summer..Don't ask me why, but they did haha!

-->I've put some simple, neutral, rustic, cottage & farmhouse style summer decor together below with sources! Keep reading for some more summer spaces & ideas in our little suburban cottage!

**More ideas for summer below! Click the links for more inspiration throughout our home.

Flower boxes are that summer item for the outside that scream summer is here! We added these semi DIY ones here:Simple Summer Flower Boxes

I decided to decorate our front porch with some vintage patriotic goods for summer & 4th of July here:Our 2016 4th of July Porch!

I hope you guys have gathered tons of inspiration from this post! I wanted to incorporate some straight inspiration from a board & summery inspiration from our actual home so you guys can see & use the ideas hopefully in your own home!!! I'm wishing you all a lovely 1st day of summer & of course Monday too!

{ Our 4th of July porch decor using all free junkin finds! }

Welcome back lovely friends!! I hope you all are having a great summer week doing what you love! Sorry about my blogging schedule being a bit off this week..I've been really tired, yet in great spirits & loving this gorgeous Michigan weather!! We've been working on a few projects, gearing up for the 4th{ more on that later} of July & just enjoying the parks & summer activities! I wanted to pop on here today & share our 4th of July porch since I don't think I've everrrr in my blogging career have decorated our little suburban cottage porch for 4th of July!!!! I mentioned in Monday's post -->Summery Cottage/Farmhouse Kitchen Inspiration that my sister & I spent all day Sunday working in the yard, tanning & decorating, and well this is what we were working on!! Almost everything in this blog post are free junkin finds with the exception of the succulent gift from my sister & some greenery/ a $5 jute rug!

I had these pots & crocks stashed in our pile in the garage & of course they were perfect for the outside area! I have used these on our 4th mantel display I think before too. They were all free finds people tossed.. The mini tan crock is vintage!

I'm going to fill you guys in on something that is a bit embarrassing..So when I started decorating this area I was searching in our garage stock pile haha & I found the first bell..then the second & finally 3rd!!! I didn't even know we had these...Truth be told though, I kind of love that I can "shop" our garage & you guys know I love old collections like this!!

Okay, onto the main focal point of this display..This hugeee - Vote Here - sign!! We've had this in the garage for literally 3 years & I always forget to use it !! This year I was determined & loveeee it! It's got so much charm & chippy-iness in the wood hence why I'm obsessed!

The birdhouse one of us kids made when we were younger.. { we were always into crafts ha }

I really hope you guys enjoyed this festive & patriotic porch with some unusual treasures! I know we don't have a flag out, but honestly I wanted to do something a bit different..Stay tuned for some more 4th decor too ;)!

{ Bright Summery Cottage & Farmhouse Kitchen Decor Ideas }

Happy Monday guys!! I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the summer & had a lovely weekend!! Ours was filled with lots of sunshine, yard work, laughs & well no power for a few hours haha! Saturday I spent the day outside getting some stuff done, washing the jeep & just enjoying the 90 degree weather since Mr. Markie had to work! We also lost power Saturday night & of course made the best of it with the beautiful weather, Slurpees', junk food & lots of candles & sister time! Sunday my sister came over again & helped me with the yard, relaxed & enjoyed our Sunday all around! I've been updating our kitchen area with more summery goods & colors lately & thought I'd share some of my inspiration along with the sources. I've noticed that in the fall & winter months I tend to gear towards more greens & browns, but when summer hits I use more black mixed with crisp whites , greens & yellows..Yes, I do use color here & there in our home hahah! Come gather some inspiration to make your kitchen & dining more cozy & bright this summer!

This is one of my most favorite summer kitchen collages! It's super simple with staple items, but also festive & bright! I think I may have to order that black rug & those plates..

I hope you all have a lovely Monday & if you could say a prayer for the victims of yesterday's tragedy that would be great.

{ Layered Summery Fireplace Mantel }

Heyyyy you guys!! I hope the week has been good to you all so far. I've been getting a bunch of stuff done around our house these last few days..I've been switching out some of the stagnant decor in each room & kind of shuffling stuff & actually loving the fresh changes for summer! My favorite switch up is coming soon on the blog, but today I thought I would share a super simple summer inspired mantel decor with  thrifty treasures & cottage accents!

I wanted something a bit more substantial, but also just really simple & fresh decor wise ..if that makes any sense! I used an old white distressed mantel I had & layered on top the vintage fireplace box!

All the greenery is from +IKEA USA  with the exception of the +Michaels Stores  terracotta filled pots! The lanterns & wood wick candles are both from Dollar Tree & the white candlesticks were free finds!

I love the look of the vintage books, greenery & mantel! It's simple, bold & hides wires etc..

I love the old vintage doors next to the TV! They had something to that huge wall & they're cottagey!  The crocks & books were all free finds too & I switched out that sign from the bathroom & love it here now!

I hope you guys enjoyed this super short & simple posts! Fireplaces with TV combos can be hard to decorate! This one was super simple to achieve with some book, plants & thrifty finds!

Happy Wednesday!

{ The CUTEST General Store in Michigan! }

Hey friends!! Today I'm going to be sharing one of our favorite little spots to go to when we have some down time & want some country air & cute unique farmhouse/cottage/ beachy style goodies!!! I guess I should say first this post isn't sponsored in any way { I wish because I LOVE general stores #random } haha! I snapped these photos quickly while we were visiting the Farmers' Market across the street last weekend & thought our little favorite general store needed its own blog post! We discovered this little general store a few years back while out jeeping around looking for houses out of the city { No, we still haven't found one & yes we started looking a year after our move into this house eeek}. Anyways, it's in the cutest little town of Dixboro & it the perfect mix of country / city! The store itself is filled with everything I love from greenery to old fashioned cold sodas! They specialize in custom furniture so every room is super cozy & filled with everything cottage/ farmhouse to buy & you might just want to take a nap! Mark even loves coming to this little place to sit out on the decks & walk the beautiful grounds! So sit back & join me for this little shop tour & of course if you're ever in Michigan come check out the Dixboro General Store!

I picked up the cutest runner while we were there for $6 & I'll be blogging it soon!

They have the best selection of candles!! Everything from soy to homemade & even ones that profit other organizations!

The barn out back in the garden is the cutest little thing ever!! It's filled with everything garden & I basically wanted everything haha!

Both of us are +Coca-Cola  lovers so I had to snap a quick picture with the farmers' market in the back!

Every room has different goods & couches..Ahh so dreamy!

I hope you guys liked this little tour post! You know I love to highlight some of our favorite spots here & there, and this is definitely one of them! Have a lovely Tuesday guys!

{ The B E S T Neutral Style Pillows for Any Home! }

Hey guys. Thanks for dropping back in on the blog!! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! We explored a ton this weekend & visited two markets!! The Vintage Keepers Market was the one that got me thinking about pillows. Seeing all the awesome makers pillows etc..I mean, I wanted one of each!! So this is going to be a pretty short straight forward type of post.. As you probably can see it's all about some simple neutral style pillow inspiration! Most of these pillows are much more than I would ever pay for pillows, but the inspiration,style & overall appeal from these ones I grouped together are great! I did give some low to very high priced styles in this collage just to show variations. Pillows are that staple item, well at least in our home that can change any style, cozy up any room or brighten any space! I love neutral cozy/comfy pillows in our home because they can be tossed anywhere & instantly lift a room. I have bought bright/bold throw pillows in the past & honestly they're sitting in our decor room..They can be much harder to work with & aren't as versatile which intern is kind of a waste of money in my opinion. Come see this simple list with sources below!

**You can find more of these style pillows at the places listed below with direct links provided!

+T.J.Maxx

Let me know if you guys like these types of post & what else you would like to see here on TQS!

Happy & Healthy Monday friends!
