{ Simple & Wintery Christmas Kitchen }

Heyyy guys! Tuesday...you're blah!! It's been one of those day guys haha..although I'm not really laughing!! I mean it's "giving back Tuesday" & some people are just in the crankiest moods ever.. Anyways I'm back today with another area in our little suburban cottage that I decorated for Christmas! It's simple & coordinates well with the rest of our main level. I used simple pops of red & green with a mixed in wintery wonderland feel! I was digging the cool tones mixed in with the festive bold tones in this space! Our kitchen isn't huge by any means, but it's new, fresh & I love this little Christmas setup we've got going on! The dining room is still decorated like a cozy vintage bakery , so I wanted something that flowed nicely with that! Here is what I came up with... P.S. When I post our full 2015 Holiday Home Tour, you'll be seeing a few spaces in the kitchen I left out..hutch..shelf etc.. stay tuned!

I picked up this distressed white wood tray & matching box from Tuesday Morning store back in September! I love the simple distressed look & they go nicely with our cabinets! The little festive print is perfect, yet simple!

Here is the matching tray! It's perfect for my husband's little coffee bar station! I'll be adding to this little area soon with some cold weather essentials!! The mat underneath I added because..actually I cant remember why, but I liked the design.  I did photograph it { Durr :/ }, but the tray under the coffee pot is a vintage Coco-Cola Santa  tray. I don't know why, but I'm loving the vintage coke goods, diner & warm feels this year!

I just filled this box with some honey & tea station goods! I love that little honey jar & it holds a special spot in my heart  :)!

I had these trees from +Hobby Lobby  in our home tour last year by the fireplace..but sine I did the total switch from neutral upstairs & red downstairs I had no place for these this year. I had stuck them outside on our little front porch, & then I randomly stuck them here & loved it..See sometimes the most random things go so well together! Effortless & cozy decorating is my game hehe!

That vintage tree plate is my ABSOLUTE FAV!! My mom picked it up for me a few years back while junkin in the north & I'm just in love with it. It's so simple, farmhouse & cottagey!!

This is just part of our hutch. I'll be adding the full hutch to our 2015 Holiday Tour, but for now here it is. Simple goods fill it, with some pops of red & green and some mixed in thrifted treasures! This is another one of those pieces that I love!! It was a free find & I painted it with some leftover latex paint..gasp haha. I have a big surprise coming on the blog pry after the holidays to do with this piece!!!!!! I hope I can hold back until then haha!

I hope you guys liked this styled spaced! So simple, thrifty & again you can get a feel on how I literally "shuffle" goods from one end of the house to the other for different looks. It's all about practical, cozy & simple decor around here! Happy Tuesday & since it's - Giving Tuesday - please consider donating to your local animal rescues/ shelters & help the voiceless { See my side bar under the * promote* link for some suggestions..THANK YOU!!!

{ Classic & Cozy Christmas Bedroom }

Happy  Tuesday guys!! I seriously am in shock that it's Dec 1st..Ugh that kinda makes me sad!! Christmas goes by toooo soon, & for this "Christmas crazy lady " 1 month or for us 1.5  of everything Christmas isn't enough!!! I still see people just now putting their tree up, lights outside etc..I say we all start Nov 1st hahah ;)! Today I'm sharing our classic & cozy Christmas bedroom!! It's the first year that we didn't put a little tree in there, but we did something better..LIGHTS!! I picked up some cute garland & I had a leftover strand & well I'M IN LOVE!!! I mean something about Christmas lights in the bedroom make me so happy!!  I kept with the theme of our upper level of our little suburban  cottage ,and stayed classic & cozy. I used tons of pops of red & simple rustic touches! I have two more spaces to blog & then I'll be putting together our full 2015 Holiday Home Tour!! The lower level is the biggest change up, so stay tuned ;) !! P.S. I added two new pieces of furniture to our upper level ..eek they're so cute & festive too! My grams was over helping me & we swapped some furniture haha..classic because our family is ALWAYS buying, switching or painting some piece of furniture!!

Lets talk about those cute little bright red velvet bows..I got this idea in my head one day while I was washing our duvet cover from +IKEA USA ! It ties at the top & I thought how cute would some bows be to outline the bedding..I didn't think they would stay, but I promise it's been 3 weeks & they're still on there perfectly!! I simply picked up a pack of bows from +Menards  & attached them to the ties on the bedding.

The greenery is from +Michaels Stores  & the little festive red greenery in the wood planters are from +Target  from  last years clearance!

I mentioned before, but the tray is from +Hobby Lobby  on sale for $16 & the silver goods are free finds!! I added some yummy little hot chocolate cookies & greenery! My husband mayyyy have ate all those little cookies heheh!

I spotted this wreath +Kohl's  and had to have it! It was rustic, but with a bit of fresh bright green appeal with sparkled, yet a rustic style bow..I don't know, but I love it!!

The plaid pillow was the perfect amount of color, perfect shades of Christmas colors & it's from +Michaels Stores  on sale for under $20!

These pictures don't do this little magical & festive space justice!!! It's so classic & cozy..I swear, I'm keeping those Christmas lights up all year hahaha!

I hope you guys enjoyed this cozy & super classic Christmas styled bedroom! It's not the largest or grandest, but it's super cozy, festive & smells of delicious apple cinnamon candles!!

I'll be back tomorrow with another room in our home & Wednesday too. I'm aiming for our full 2015 Holiday Home Tour to be up by Friday!!!  Also don't forget to head on over to this post --> Secret and Scents Candle and grab your jewel candle with my 10% off promo code for you guys!! :)

Thanks SO much for stopping by my little practical blog.

{ Secret and Scents Jewelry Candles & More!! }

I can't believe Turkey day is over already!! I hope you all had an amazing time filled with family & friends and tons of your favorite food!! Since Thanksgiving is over you know what that means..less then  1 month until Christmas!!! Guys please don't cringe  haha! I know shopping for family & friends can be difficult in every aspect, but Christmas is that special time to pamper loved ones with something different & special, right? I mean spending quality time  is the most important, but lets face it sometimes gift shopping can become ridiculous..Well, today I'm sharing the perfect gift for moms, daughters, friends, co-worker, teachers..basically anyone!!! It's like you're getting two items for the price of one when you order your specialized jewelry candle!! Who doesn't love to smell yummy scents & while getting a piece of surprise  jewelry?!?

Things I  Personally liked about Secret & Scents Candles vs. Other Brands..

1. The packaging! I've said this before ,but I'm big on presentation & even more on packaging/labels!! I usually remove labels etc..but honestly these jar candles & the labels are soo pretty & neutral I kept the label on & actually LOVE IT!!!

2. Pick your ring size!! Another big thing for me was that you could pick your ring size!!! I've ordered & received other jewel candles before & every time I would try the ring it was the wrong size..I mean that's a total bummer..right?!

3. More then just rings!! Yup, isn't that nifty? You can pick your piece of jewelry from rings to necklaces & more!!

4. The scents!! The scents they offer are amazing!! They're classic, warming & soothing scents that can be used in any part of your home!! I've noticed some of the soy candles can almost become sour or lack a great scent from the beginning. That's definitely NOT the case with Secret and Scents candles!! I'm not kidding when I opened our front door & could smell the candle { Blueberry  Cheesecake } through the package in 30 degree weather!!! It's the most fragrant  & delicious candle & I may be burning it right now while working hehe!!

I lit the candle in our guest room / doggy playroom & oh my gosh it smelled so good!!! I let the candle burn for about 2 hours before I got impatient & gently moved some of the wax around to feel for the  tinfoil wrapped jewelry! It was placed near the middle about an inch down!

Once you spot the gold tinfoil, simply blow the candle out & take a spoon ,and  gently remove it. If the wax is too disturbed just kind of mold it back into place with the spoon. You can however let the" surprise" rise to the top, but I just couldn't wait that long as I was blogging the review/process!

Let the little package cool down before eagerly finding out what your jewelry is!! The jewelry can range in value from $10- $5000!!

I chose a ring & I'm so glad I did! It's so pretty & fits well!!

Head on over to the link below & order your Secret & Scents candle now!! They're an amazing company, product & they offer more then just candles!!!

{ Rustic & Retro Inspired Christmas Dining Room }

Heyyy guys!! I hope you all had a great weekend!! Ours was busy & not so fun, but hey you win some & lose some ha! Today was obviously a case of the gross Mondays too..geesh um can we get a break?! Our puppy was sick all day today..every 1.5-2 he was getting sick..poor guy! Something else happened to someone close to us as well & we're just HAPPY he's okay!!! Anyways back to today's post, it's all about this rustic & retro inspired dining room I put together!! I know everyone is into the ski & plaid look this year { I did that last year }, but you know me I'm always doing something that the crowd isn't lol!!! I don't know what has came over me,but I've been really loving this vintage /retro style dining room stuff. I got the inspiration from someone who was near & dear to my heart..my papa!! I was thinking about him the other day & remembered he owned a restaurant at one point in his life way before I was even thought of. It was a soda shop restaurant  in the 1960's & I heard they served up some yummy treats & dishes!! I got the idea for this cozy idea & kinda ran with it!! I miss him a lot { I'm told I was his favorite } hehe & what better way to remember him then to use some inspiration to create this little Christmas dining room!!

Note: This is a super picture heavy post!!

See those cookbooks right there? Ya, those two books have some of the most basic stick to your bones recipes!! They're  heavy home cooking comfort food recipes for sure! The bottom Betty Crocker is a vintage cookbook & the top Campbell's  was a free find!

I mentioned above that this kitchen was inspired by my late papa {2004}. Sadly I don't have any of his goods from his restaurant ,but I do have some old kitchen items that are from my great grandpa { Poppy } who passed in 2011. That white apron is his as well as the rolling pin :) ! They fit so nicely into this space I had to display them!!

I had 15% off at +Target  so I picked up these mini rustic copper Christmas trees!

I'm loving the pops of copper this year!! The copper tin candles are from Michaels on sale for $4 a tin! The vintage inspired Santa milk jug is from a local shop!

I love the cozy Christmas diner look!!!

I mean what diner is complete without some vintage Coca-Cola bottles in a wire basket?!

Okay, so here's another one of those sentimental pieces..It's my great grandpa's { Poppy's} rolling pin !! I love it & it works in the space effortlessly!! Little side note my great gramps loved cooking fried foods, eating sweets & he was 99 when he passed with nearly no health issues!! I mean how could I not display this piece?

These last few pictures from here on down are views with the chandelier on !! I usually don't like photographing  with the lights on, but I was kinda digging the warmness it made this faux  retro diner!!!

P.S. the green teacups are vintage free finds!! They actually go with plaid plates I have downstairs in that  dining room area ;) !!

I hope you guys enjoyed this setup!! It's different & practical , and you know on TQS that's a must!! I'm off to work on tomorrows post all about the cutest Christmas gift!! Stay tuned guys!

{ Simple Christmas Cottage Bathroom }

Ohhhh hey weekend!! I hope the week was good to you guys! I'm going to start this "bathroom" post off by saying it's going to be a weird/ long post & by that I mean I'll be sharing some life stuff in this post while hoping to still inspire..You guys know I like to keep it 100% authentic here on TQS & with that being said today was not our day...! Okay, here comes the rant about RUDE Secretary of State employees..After waiting in line to ensure a new work truck  the rude attendant makes some incorrect observation & starts making a scene & sends us on our way. This is all after waiting in the ridiculous line forever, so we got back in the jeep and I  reported her!!! I'm so sick of what I call "power-tripping" people working at these places. You're working for the tax payers so please do your job & correctly!!! AHHHH next thing is I'm fighting a bladder stone. Oh, the joys of kidney & bladder stones..welcome back- NOT!! Sorry guys I know I'm ranting, but it's been one of those days & Yes, I get that many are going through much worse, but sometimes the small stuff is just as aggravating & it builds.  I'm thankful for all my readers & being able to blog, because it allows me to vent { other then to my savior husband hehe :) }. I mentioned this before, but most of the time I'm not a very verbal person. I have my moments, but I would rather write how I feel then verbally say or talk about it unless I'm really pushed. Ya, I yell, but I never really say what I'm truly feeling. I'm a guarded person & holding onto things internally isn't good for anyone. Writing is my outlet & I'm thankful you guys allow me to do that while hopefully inspiring you to decorate/build/enjoy your sanctuary practically!

Now lets get onto the actual post haha! Today while trying to not think about some of the physical pain I was feeling I decided to dress up my bathroom  for Christmas!! Let me just say this is my VERY first year that I ever decorated any of our bathrooms for Christmas. I mean the bathroom isn't someplace anyone wants to hang out in, but it's definitely someplace I want to keep clean & cheery under the circumstances hahahaha ;)! Keep reading to see how I decorated the bathroom with odds & ends around the house!

Most of the items in this post are things I grabbed from storage or used in previous years to decorate with! I just wanted some hints of festive holiday colors in the bathroom so I used simple objects that were easy to move or that are actually used like soaps, towels, lotions, candles etc..

The fringe tea towels are new & I got them at Tuesday Morning store for cheap!

I like to decorate the bathroom with stuff I'll actually be using, so I added some really fragrant Meyers hand soap in the fresh tree scent! I also added some green bath salts to the cabinet shelf & then stuck some festive red flowers in the hanging basket storage for some color! The ribbon is from Michaels & was leftover from a project!

The bows are from DollarTree.

If you notice many of the things I decorate with I shuffle around from one spot to another..This is called shopping your own home on a practical budget! I can pick out at least 3 things in this "holiday bathroom" that I've used in numerous other areas of our home. Styling your own reused goods is not only budget friendly, but then you  tend to stay away from trends & focus more on your personal style/likes!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
