{ 6 Cozy ways to Display Greenery in your Home..Anytime of the Year! }

Happy Thursday,friends!!! I wanted to quickly pop on here and share something that I was thinking about while I was packing the other day..greenery!! It's one of my most used items when styling  a space whether it's in the dead of winter or the middle of the blazing summer. I use greenery in our home all year long & I thought it was about time I shared with you guys the different ways you can display & pot your plants around your home in a few simple & different ways! I like to use flowers & greenery in the coziest of ways to add that cottage/ farmhouse charm,but this post has something for every style because it's all about different ways to use greenery in your home!! 1. Free standing  Topiaries

The tall topiaries are one of my favorite plants to use around the house! They're tall enough to add height to certain areas & super easy to move & set in other pots like crocks, galvanized buckets etc.. These are from @ikea !

 

2. Baskets!

This is my favorite way to display flowers. I love the simplicity & the texture mixed with the natural elements of the flowers or if you decide greenery. These long creamy blossoms are from @hobbylobby .

  

 

3. Galvanized Buckets

Using thrifty galvanized buckets is another way  I love to display greenery around the house. They're simple, durable & can withstand just about anything & bonus they go with just about anything.

4. Greenhouses!

This one is kind of new to me..I was never really into them until I decided I needed something to use that makes a "statement" so I picked this one up from @ikea  . They're super popular right now & you can find them all over...I'm on the hunt for a vintage metal one, but for now this faux white one does just fine.

Side Note: Plants are  faux.

5. Crocks!

This has been my go- to display for my greenery for years!! We started collecting these vintage crocks over 5 years ago & I just love them! They couldn't be more simple & with the various sizes they can ultimately go anywhere even outside!

 

6. Wreaths!

Wreaths, I know not groundbreaking or anything but I had to add them because they're that one staple item that can be used in any space to add that " fresh faux green" aspect. They're simple to move, last forever & are fairly inexpensive/  versatile!  This one is from @homegoods

{ Casual Cozy Cottage Style Easter Tablescape Idea }

Happy Wednesday !!! We've been super busy before we depart for an 8 day tropical style vacay & road trip!! I love me some cozy winter, but I'm sooo ready to snorkel & enjoy the sun with my best friend! I've said this before but I really don't go overboard with holiday decor other than Christmas..With that being said I did decorate the dining room before all the changes start happening after vacay..I just added some simple cozy goodies to the table, new throw pillows to the chairs & restyled the cabinet a bit. Very simple yet soothing..I don't know why I always tend to gravitate towards greys for Easter, but I do. I mean we have a real Easter bunny who might be making his appearance back on my IG soon haha #mrwibbles #ourbunny #officemascot hahah Okay, I'm done hehhe...See how excited I am for all the upcoming goodness going on?! It's lovely to be busy & have things to look forward too!!! Anyways come see this Easter tablescape below!!!

 

My love of greys & greens during this time continues ha. I hope that doesn't sound depressing because it's totally not..I promise ha! I love these farmhouse cloth napkins, vintage plates, greens & crocks..cozy & warm while still easing into spring! 

  

I also wanted to incorporate this corner cabinet into this post because it will be getting  a new home soon I think..I have a huge idea for this dining room & this cabinet isn't in it..I feel bad because it was my first vintage piece & makeover way back in 2008 I think..Stay tuned!!:)

I shopped our home for this whole post other than the wood block sign on the table..I know I have some other Easter decor around here somewhere, but for now I'm keeping it simple since after vacay it's time to get to work on the spruce up!!

{ DIY Cottage Style Simple Hot Beverage Station }

Happy  sunny Tuesday! It's been so cold & dreary here these past few days & today after posting on my IG HERE that it was gloomy..the sun decided to come out! As I'm typing this I'm sipping some hot Chai latte which is much needed since it's super cold here in Michigan again...You see where I'm going with this post ha.. As we were driving around{NEW VLOG } this weekend pricing the stuff for our mini spring home revamp { see last post }. With the temps super cold this weekend it dawned on me as we were leaving with our mug full of tea & coffee that I never blogged our little hot beverage station other than once & that was FOREVER ago..I've said it a million times, but I'm not into coffee much more of chai tea , vanilla cappuccinos etc..Mark however is a coffee maniac ha. Come see more of this cute cozy hot beverage station below!!

 

Our little hot bev station is super simple..I bought this black distressed wood tray from Hobby Lobby about 3 years ago & it's perfect for keeping everything together & easy to move etc..The Keurig stays on it along with the white canister with K-cups. The other small cream & black canisters are filled with hot chocolate, chocolate chips & cinnamon.

Of course I had to decorate this space a little haha..I just added an old white mug, greenery & this vintage honey stick!

 

Our little mug collection is simple, but just enough for us.  I usually only buy black & white mugs with the exception of a few...Our mugs are all HUGE too haha..no wimpy ones in our house!

 

These small cream & black chalkboard canisters are from @HomeGoods.

 

The wall mug holder is an old antique from my grams. When she moved down from her lake house a few years ago she got rid of a bunch of "treasures" & this is one I kept. It's so simple & after our mini spring kitchen spruce up it's for sure going back up...

Side Note: The black & white sign was a thrifting find, and the Ball mason lamp is vintage.

 

What do you think about our simple little hot beverage station? I call it a station because honestly I don't like the "bar" name because it's just not practical. I see soooo many beautiful coffee bars, but lets be honest if you don't have a water hookup it's super impractical to walk back & forth filling this coffee pot etc..especially when they're not directly by the sink..Pretty, yes..practical- NO!

{ Cottage Style Spring Home Update: Pt. 2 - Products & Ideas! }

Happy Friday!! So as I am writing this "spring home update" I'm kind of laughing..You guys, we have 3 inches of fresh S N O W on the ground here in Michigan..Blah!!! I was sick on Wednesday with some GI/ kidney stuff I suspect so I didn't do much & today  {Thursday } I slept a lot & just did the minimal. I'm feeling much better  & we're ready to get this mini makeover in full swing ..even if we do have snow on March 1st!!!! I mean you can never plan around Michigan weather so it's no surprise to us! My ocd & type A personality are already getting to me with the future mess, chaos & decisions that are coming up haha. I got some major inspiration for an area in the dining room & I think I know what is being moved in there..fingers crossed it works out!!! Mark also just informed me that we might do the kitchen floor as well..we will see ha. Anyways today I wanted to share pt.2 / the items & finishes we're most likely going with in terms of this little renovation. Like I said before things could change, but come see below what direction we are headed in!!!

We decided to go with Behr brand paint. We have used it so many times before & loved it. We will being using the Behr paint + primer in one for max cover & most likely in Ultra White for all the rooms upstairs with the exception of Mark's office HERE & the dog lounge HERE since we just redid those rooms.

 

The back door will be replaced with the one below as well as the front door. Both storm doors will be replaced with  these french style ones with the screen in them I believe.

 

 

For the upper level living room we will be painting white & adding some type of wall treatment possibly & I have these tan plaid/buffalo check wallpaper picked out for the accent wall.

 

In the kitchen we will be adding a bit more charm with horizontal beadboard & the dining room will have vertical beadboard.

 

As far as vanities go, I think one of these might be my choice. I'm still looking but I fell in love with both of these & it goes well with the farmhouse/cottage style in my bathroom. We're keeping the travertine that's tan & I liked how these looked. Mark's bathroom will be painted but his vanity is staying...so far.

{ Spring Interior/Exterior UPDATES: The Plans pt.1 }

Hey everyone & happy glorious Saturday!! I'm blogging on Saturday..who am I? Hahaha..weird I know right?..I figured since Mark was working today as well that I would take some time in the office to get some work done & I'm so happy I did! So this isn't going to be a pretty post but it's going to be sort of long & explain what has been going on with us in terms of moving, current home etc.. As you guys know we have been on the hunt for a small farmhouse/home with a bit of land etc.. for about 3 years now..YES, 3 Y e a r s! I know that sounds crazy but the areas we are looking in are either not populated with homes for sale or 600k +.  We have these areas picked out because they're great for commute & other amenities. We also aren't in a super rush to move, but the last year we have been pushed more with my husband's business growing & our land needing to be larger. I've said this before but we love our current home unfortunately the land just isn't ideal. It's big for the area,but not for us. With all that being said since we haven't found the one yet I have been super antsy lately & really bored with this house but  confused too. Confused as to keep doing projects & putting bits of money into it or jumping on another home. I DESPISE being in limbo & that's where we're at right now..IN LIMBO! Although we both crave another project aka new { old } home we decided that since nothing on the market right now is working jumping for that we would just spruce of the current house with a few simple & affordable projects for a fresh start this spring. Down below I'm cluing you guys in on what is going to take place in the next few months etc..Now, just like with any projects, things can change, so don't hold us to these plans exactly but for the most part that's what we're planning.

 

For the kitchen we plan on just painting it a nice white. The cabinets & appliances are fairly new & will be staying. We will be adding a backsplash either shiplap or beadboard for that cottage charm & bonus it's super affordable & easy to work with.

 

The dining area will be receiving a fresh coat of paint along with some beadboard as well. I think it will add to this space even though it does quite  a bit of charm with the pantry, barn door, chalkboard etc.. You guys know I love doing little projects & I get bored quick, so this little spruce up will be fun!

 

The upper living room will also be getting paint & we're thinking some type of wall treatment for this little corner the couch is in. I have big ideas & will share when we decide!!

 

The garage will be getting some paint, nothing dramatic just a fresh white coat on the wood & the porch floor will be getting a coat of white washing possibly too.

My bathroom on the main level will be getting fresh new paint!! I want to go super bright in this space since it's small. The faucet started leaking a few months ago & we decided to just get a whole new vanity. I'm excited to play around in this space.Thinking a light granite & cottage vanity + adding some more antiques! The tub, tile & travertine are newer so they'll be staying.

 

I took to Facebook & Instagram the other day & most of you said paint this space, so paint it is! think bright crisp white,new bedding & new vintage chandelier!!! 

So what do you guys think about these little custom updates while we're in the process of searching for our next home? It's always nice to have a freshened up home for spring right? Nothing to major but it will hopefully keep my antsy DIY obsessed self happy for a minute.
