{ DIY Farmhouse Style Dog Lounge Makeover REVEAL! }

Hey everyone!! Today I'm just going to jump right into things since I have a million things to get done & to be quite honest I'm super excited to share this space with you guys because it's not something that is shared or thought about much, but since when do we go with the masses hahah..Yup, never!! Anyways the other day as I was filling up the pibbs { our pit bulls } dishes something dawned on me..the space just WAS NOT working for them or us anymore!! The "guest" aka our nieces room was originally painted lavender per our nieces request & since she used to be with us all the time it wasn't a problem & we customized the room to everything she liked etc.. Well unfortunately our niece has not been or slept in this room for 2 years now...So it was time to clean the room out { with many tears shed } & purge all her little clothing, toys etc.. The dogs needed more space since they LOVE being in this room & because having all the extra furniture was too cramped etc.. Thankfully we donated the furniture quickly &I grabbed some clearance Valspar paint in the color "Vanilla" for $9.99 a gallon & of course some new doggy accessories! Keep reading below to see why we essentially implemented a doggy lounge into our home..

Dog Lounge Goodies:

  • Doodle Container
  • Rug
  • Food Storage
  • Fan
  • Toys
  • Steps
  • Cage
  • Dog bed/ day bed
  • Storage for Shampoo etc..
  • Sheets { I use white for easy bleaching }
** This is just what we use! Everything you see in pictures are used minus the throw pillows..They actually have white ones for easy cleanup & yes, these two silly dogs use them ha!

So I said I would go into a little more detail as why we needed a dog lounge..First, both of our dogs are rescues found on the streets of Detroit by my lovely husband ( My mom works rescue too #shesawesome ). With that being said when we got Stinker the older female aka our old momma dog we had her in what is now my husbands office HERE. When we adopted Stewy 2 years later we moved them to the guest room..Since then the space just got too crowded & it wasn't working. These two dogs are conjoined at the hip & literally LOVE their room! It's actually comical they take themselves in there 24/7 & go nuts rolling each other around on the bed,playing with toys & occasionally breaking stuff haha..They're much like kids! We always say they go together so well because the little one likes being a baby  ( he's 3 ) haha & Stinker loves being a momma! They sit on the bed with their fan just giving each other smooches..The GOOD LIFE!
P.S. I want to adopt them all, especially the torn apart body & soul ones..so I can SPOIL, SPOIL S P O I L.

Hahah how cute is this doggy jar? Of course it's filled with bones & doodles..Now let's hope the "pigbulls" don't "knock" it over!! This was purchased at Walmart for under $15!

This whole space was completed for $120!! That includes this rug, paint,dog food storage, lettering etc..
* Sources at the bottom of this post!

I wish you guys could meet these two...They're FULL of personality & have also essentially rescued me too, it's the best!! Follow my Instagram HERE for more on them!

Okay, so I'm not one to buy many  toys because they just tear them up even with our 2 being super nice with toys! I found these toys with no stuffing with just an empty water bottle in the middle & it can be replaced through a slit on the dog!!! For $1 from Dollar Tree too!!

{ Charming Farmhouse Style Summer Dining Room Bench }

Tuesday already? It seems like the weekend was just here..& now August is just zooming by it seems & that "dirty 30" birthday of mine is fast approaching haha yikes! With my 30th birthday coming up soon I have been kind of having a midlife crisis not all out, but to think I'm going to be 30??? That just blows my mind..& it's been giving me all the feels on life, work, family etc..I have been doing a lot of soul searching & with all that comes changes-ups in our home!! This past week I went crazy & moved a bunch of stuff around, added a few new pieces & also shopped our home for a fresh new look! One of the biggest, yet simplest changes was moving this dark sage color bench from @homegoods into our dining room! I had previously has it in our living room HERE
& randomly decided I wanted to use it as it was intended for..I actually forgot it was a bench haha & oddly enough I've always wanted a bench in our dining room, so I went for it!!

So as you can see I just simplified this space & added the bench!! I love it so much in here because it's airy,roomy & gives it so much more charm rather than just plain chairs! I'm excited to play with this for the holidays!!

I went super simple on the tablescape too, greenery, black wire basket & some vintage mason jars all the way from the lovely Kennebunk,ME!

I added the stool not only because it's super special to me { see why HERE } but because I'm short & I've been using it a lot lately haha! The crock was a free thrifty find & the flowers from @hobbylobby!

Truth be told this is one of my favorite little corners in our suburban cottage!! It will be getting a change-up soon & I CAN'T wait to show you..Hint: Fall. Haha!
*You can see the full post on our Hydrangea filled dining room & huge painting HERE

What's your favorite part about our summer dining room? Are you liking the bench? Let me know down below!!

{ DIY Cottage Style Chippy Dog Room Table Makeover }

Happy Monday you guys!! This weekend was full of DIY & just hanging around our little cottage..Although it was a simple weekend, it was kind of a busy one..It seems like August is always that month where I start gearing up for the holidays, purging & also prepping for our Michigan winters/fall...Our garage was on my list, but instead I DIY'd this cute little table I showcased in my Instagram stories HERE. I woke up on Saturday morning to my husband flying out the door to his business saying "Honey go to the front porch, I got you something"...total excitement & to my pleasure it was JUST what I had been looking for or should I say needed to finish the doggy room ha! Yes, our dogs have their own room..I'll be explaining more in the final reveal of the whole space later this week eek! This is probably one of the coolest junkin pieces we've found..It's vintage, charming & has a hardwired lamp connected that is original or at least looks to be to the piece! I also love the two little drawers on each side for tiny storage, because this still is somewhat our guest room..Anyways come see this piece below!!

So this piece was in obvious rough condition, but with a bit of cleaning & Valspar spray paint, sand paper & love it turned out just the way I had envisioned! So, I had this spray paint on hand for another project that I ended up using something else for, so with two cans of this I went to town!! Sage green is my favorite color & once you see the full reveal of the dog room,
you'll understand why I chose this color! I got this spray paint for $3 a can & it's now one of my favorite brands & colors! It turned out super chalky as well..win win right?!

I ended up only using the spray paint & not the chalk paint...Keep reading..

 I cleaned & sprayed the whole table with one light coat & let dry for 20 minutes! I got super lucky yesterday with the cool breezy weather & no humidity, because it dried super quick & nicely! I ended up spraying 3 coats & almost took my palm sander to it in some spots, but then decided I wanted a really  authentic worn look..After the 3 coats were applied I used sand paper to go over the spots that had obvious wear...I left some spots with the white paint coming through & other spots I went down to the wood for that warm cozy feel!

*See my Inspiration Board for this space HERE

The spots that are distressed are the spots that had the authentic wear! In any other case I would have made them a bit more cohesive. I do love how it turned out though!
** I used a lampshade I had in my decor room..I might change it back once it's hardwired again!

Okay, here's the kicker to this whole project.. The end drawers were painted black at some point..Once I took fresh sandpaper to them I noticed the original or semi-original paint color coming through & guess what color it was???? THE EXACT SAME GREEN hahaha! I guess it was meant to be!

This table is literally perfect for this space! I can't wait for the full reveal..Stay Tuned!!!

What do you guys think about this DIY table?? Isn't she unique?? Let me know down below what you think of this simple under $10 makeover?!

Happy Monday!

Wishing you all a happy & healthy Friday & weekend!

{ Farmhouse Dog Lounge Inspiration Board }

Well welcome back to the blog everyone!! I trust you all are having a lovely week & if you aren't I surely hope that changes!! Today I wanted to pop on here & share the "design" or inspiration board as I call them for our dog room/ lounge! I will be sharing why we converted this room after 5 years & giving all the details in the reveal post coming soon! Today I'm simply just sharing the board I put together about a week ago on what I wanted for this cozy,BUT super simple & functional dog space! Most of the items are super functional for our dogs  because they're super lazy hehe. They love this room, so it was about time we made it more for their needs hahah..Spoiled right?..They are two of the most deserving rescues though so it wasn't a problem doing this for them & bonus this room turned out super cute & not too "dog-ish". Come see more of the inspiration below!!

**Though I didn't use many of these items in the actual room, I did find items like it locally that I implemented into the space easily! I will list the items in the inspiration board with Direct Links for your ease below!
