{ Our Affordable Farmhouse Inspired Kitchen Revamp }

Ever feel like you need a change to  fulfill your current style in your home? Ya, I did too, so we updated our kitchen with some semi budget friendly ideas! I wanted a more glam farmhouse feeling in the kitchen so we added new knobs,faucet, hinges & some little decor touches { Stay tuned on another post for these }! This revamp wasn't in dire need ,but was worth it!

  Little background on the kitchen space-->When we moved in over two years ago we painted the cabinets crisp Behr white & left the silver handles that the previous owners had & the brushed nickel faucet. Fast forward to the present, it was time to get rid of the brushed nickel { I love brushed nickel } ,but was going for a different look. When the faucet broke last Thursday it was the perfect sign it was time to update :) !  We headed to Home Depot & Menards  looking for a new faucet, hinges { our old ones were painted white } &new knobs! We found a great pull-down faucet by Pfister ! It was everything I  was looking for, dark oil bronzed with a copper undertone & a curved pull-down! Although the faucet was $160 It was well worth it. We ended up skipping the knobs at Home Depot & buying ours { Same finish as the faucet} from Target in a 6 pack. We saved over 7 dollars per packet buying them in the packs instead of buying them in singles !  We then went on our 'search' for the same hinges but in a different finish...what a nightmare!! We stopped & thought after the third place, we would just use mineral spirits & soak them & then spray paint! Come to find out we didn't even need to spray paint,just strip & rinse!  They came out a dark bronze color that pulled from our granite counters specs &  new knobs & faucet! This whole revamp cost about $300 & was so worth it for resale in the near future ;) & the fresh new look!

{ Apple Pie with a slight twist }

It's the weekend !! It's been rather cool here the last few days & I'm perfectly okay with that!! Cool weather means Fall has  { in my book } officially started! It was quite chilly again today so I decided to make a delicious apple pie! This apple pie is extra sweet / gooey & made with a 'secret' ingredient! Keep reading & find out  what the simple secret is ;) !

Recipe

  • 1-2 bags Apple of your choice { I use Macintosh }
  • half stick Butter
  • 4-5 tablespoons Cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons HONEY<~~
  • 3 pinches brown sugar
  • Crust of choice
* Garnish with some thick vanilla ice cream & a tall glass of milk!  *

After you've peeled & diced or halved the apples mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Make sure all of the apples are coated nicely with the mixture. If the apples seem to need more just add an adjusted amount of each ingredient to the bowl. Now set your mixture aside for a few minutes & get your dish ready with the pie crust. I used store bought , because homemade is a bit to flaky & thin for this hearty apple pie recipe. You can use any crust { store bought or homemade }. Line the dish & fill the pie just over the rim of the dish!  Add a few butter squares  around the dish & then cover your pie & pinch edges closed! Last ,but not least put a few slits in the top of your pie & sprinkle some cinnamon on top. Bake on 350 until golden brown!

Side Note: I always use a cooking tray to set my dish on while baking just in case some pie filling drips out !!

{ Fall is creeping our way ..:) }

I stepped outside our front door today with the cool breeze blowing & the smell of leaves & wood burning, yup Fall is on its way!! As soon as I smell Fall aromas & catch that cool breeze, you know that breeze where it's cooler outside then in?..Ya, that breeze! I know then it's time for Fall to roll around { Yay } !! I couldn't resist the beautiful flowers & bushes turning colors outside our front door ,so I cut a few stems  off & used them in our kitchen. They were so vibrant ,I  obviously couldn't  stop snapping pics !!!
Enjoy!

I risked my life today trying to cut some branches off - bumblebee galore! Although, I love bumblebees ,& they're  said not to sting,I was still weary ..

We all know I love my wispy grass, & I adore when it changes to brown 'wheat' like strands!!

Prettiest little homemade bouquet !

:)
Happy early weekend everyone, and be sure to enjoy the last bit of summer !!!

{ Our Living Room Chandelier Revamp }

Rainy night in.. means blogging! Tonight I'm sharing a hand-me-down chandelier that was an awful 1980's brass finish. I gave this diamond in the rough some much needed TLC & 'she' turned out great! I decided I would put her in the living room to add to the cottage/cozy feel I have going on! I'm still on the fence about keeping it all cream or dying the shades a brown/ tan color. I would love to hear your input or opinions :) ! Enjoy & stay tuned for { possibly } another post about the new shade colors !!

Stripped the shades off & gave it a light 'dusting' before spraying!
Note: I find it easier to spray chandeliers while hanging,much easier to catch every angle!

First coat of spray paint..

If you've been following me, you know this is my go to color - {satin cream} & always Rust-Oleum :)

The hanging beauty after some quick TLC! Like I said above, I'm still debating on coloring the shades a tan or brown...hmm
Side Note: This chandelier isn't hard wired. It's only for looks- for now..;)

{ Our cute little red barn/shed makeover }

Seems like it's been forever since I painted this cute little rustic shed ,or as I like to call it the little red barn. This barn was deemed to be scrapped & my husband loaded, yes loaded the whole thing into one of his work trailers. When he came home with it I thought oh, boy what in the world is this rusted piece of junk?! The shed/barn looked like The Grinch Stole Christmas sleigh hanging off the back of the trailer . It was funny ,but also kind of scary!! I got right to work on it after we picked some paint & trim colors out. It kind of grew on me & added to our storage behind our garage. I also thought it would be cute for the holidays ;)!

Basic tools you'll need..^
Side Note: The paint color is Behr Exterior paint in Candy Apple Red! The trim is white & we used exterior kilz!

This little shed ate the paint literally..2 gallons later!

The final coat drying... I wasn't thrilled with the end color at first. The next day the color had been hit by the sunlight & actually the pinky/red color subsided into a 'true barn red' !!

The pots were originally in front of our house & decided to move them back here. The galvanized tin,John Deere sign, and wreath are all thrift or garbage finds. The rustic flowers in the tin are from Dollar Tree.

I hope you enjoyed this little makeover, & remember anything can be cute with a little TLC & a vision!
